Externally the building is an extremely stylish old "inn", deceptively spacious inside with a rear restaurant extension that has a high ceiling and a most attractive Victorian lantern rooflight. The food was outstanding. The ceviche of Scottish salmon was incredibly fresh, the pork loin with mash was rich and flavorful, and the rice pudding was perfect. It was everything I had hoped out of one of Chef Ramsay's restaurants. We were treated so well by our waiter who clearly knew it was a special occasion. He was so attentive but also gave us our own space. The food was also amazing!
Only issue was the woman who was clearing out the dishes, managed to drop a pile of plates in the middle of the dinnig room causing a bit of a commotion. Most of the customers had their coats hanging off the back of their chairs- I noticed that she dropped the plates behind me, I politely asked if it was my coat that made her drop the plates and she said, "actually, yes." I was quite shocked in the manner she told me, making me feel guilty! Booked the restaurant through the booking system, but decided we'd rather sit in the bar upon arrival. This was no trouble to the staff, who accommodated us without fuss. This location was convenient to where we were staying and an easy walk from Camden Town tube station. The bar & restaurant was spacious and we were given a large table with a sofa which was more than comfortable for three of us. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled that there was a three-course meal with options for me, starting with the goat cheese tart. My main course, gnocchi with mushrooms & poached egg, literally melted in my mouth and was seriously one of the best meals I've ever had! The vanilla creme brulee with rhubarb ice cream was a fantastic finish! The food was excellent and well up to Mr Ramsays reputation.
Staff were friendly, attentive but not 'in your face'. The hot bread was superb.
£90 for lunch for two may be a little more than some people would want to pay, but for a special occassion I would say you get what you pay for, and it was worth every penny.

We took set menu with main dish and dessert. Service was very polite and friendly. This was first experience of Gordon Ramsay restaurants for us. My friend and I both enjoyed roasted hanger steak and hot chocolate fondant. The portions were just for us, not too small to leave you hungry and not too large to be stuffed before getting back to hotel. I took a beautiful french girl her on a "date" and she really had a good time - I think a great dating venue...

By far I enjoyed York & Albany the most. The food was nothing like I had tasted before, nothing like I had seen before and so inventive, it was a complete experience. I would easily recommend it to everyone. I had lunch there so would definitely recommend that.
To be honest, I feared that these top tier restaurants would serve food that would be too sophisticated for a simple man's taste buds and hence one does not understand the food. The food is simply excellent....except the creamed horseradish, it's just far too mild, hardly any heat in it at all. We asked for a stronger portion, but waiter struggled to get one and the one that did come back was still far too mild. But, everything else was incredible. Including the Bloody Mary's to start with.
