Tsunami - Clapham
Delicious and beautifulHad a really lovely lunch in the bright, beautiful surroundings, with absolutely delicious food: recommend the kataifi prawns, salt and chilli pepper squid, excellent sashimi selection and the truffle rib-eye. Really good but nicely subtle service. It's not cheap but the quality of food is worth the extra, along with the nice ambience. Great for a special celebration or just a nice treat!11/05/2013 00:00:00Decent Japanese foodTasty food, decent menu and good service. Recommend the teriyaki salmon.10/05/2013 00:00:00Great service, knowledgeable staffWe had a great dinner, the waitress was fantastic and we would definitely return. Good cocktails too!07/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent as everLove Tsunami, love their food and their cocktails - this was no exception! Fabulous meal and excellent service.04/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely meal that ended too early3 of us had agreed to meet up at Tsunami. Two of us got there early so had one of the best cocktails ever, before ordering some truly lovely food. The salt and pepper squid, the black cod and truffle beef were some of the highlights, but all the food was wonderful. Sadly, when deciding to have another cocktail instead of dessert, we were unceremoniously told we had to leave our table (citing a 2-hour rule not mentioned at booking) and go to the heaving cocktail bar at the side of the restaurant. We moved over there, but realising we would have to stand and also that it was so noisy we could no longer hold a conversation we decided to leave. It was a sad end to the evening, and put a damper on what could have been a perfect experience.26/04/2013 00:00:00Tasty, but small portionsVery nice starters, but portions would be little bit bigger.14/04/2013 00:00:00Very satisfiedThis was a great experience, my best restaurant meal for several years. The black cod was amazing, a very tasty sauce included. Including great wine reccomendation and fantastic service, it made my day !
I will be back !!!!!!!!!13/04/2013 00:00:00Could be better for veggieWe really enjoyed our dinner at Tsunami - it's not the cheapest but with the atmosphere, service and general quality of the food, I feel we paid a fair price for the whole experience.
My only quibble was my other half's veggie main course just wasn't very interesting. It was a tofu pot thing and he said the broth was really tasteless. I have lived in Japan and I know they're not known for their veggie food but I expected more from a place of this quality. It was also the only veggie option for the main course, apart from the couple of pieces of sushi. That said, the veggie starters we tried were very good and my teryaki salmon was delish.
We'd definitely go back with friends but I think the bf will stick with starters for his mains.12/04/2013 00:00:00Great Japanese Fusion CuisineA meal full of flavour and presented with more than a little showmanship. Had fusion starters followed by an excellent platter of sushi - the Dragon Roll was a real stand-out. Desserts beautifully presented and just right. Great service and a good atmosphere. Will definitely return.30/03/2013 00:00:00Great nightAwesome evening, great date venue. The truffle beef was outstanding27/03/2013 00:00:00Great SushiThe food was brilliant and was quick to come out, we had starters, mains and a dessert - the best sushi I have had in London22/03/2013 00:00:00Great experience - as alwaysI have been going back to Tsunami ever since the first time I tried it. Fantastic service, great food and drinks.09/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent food and serviceAmazing food - especially the grilled black cod with sweet miso! Highly recommended!08/03/2013 00:00:00Still my favourite in London...Outstandingly tasty, imaginative and beautifully presented food, this restaurant never disappoints. The food is easily as good as Nobu (at roughly half the price), and the atmosphere way-superior. Clapham is the original (and better for group dining) but Charlotte Street is another gem (more for romantics).
Been dining here for a decade and it just gets better. Cannot recommend enough...08/03/2013 00:00:00I am a regular to TsunamiI am a regular to Tsunami and bring many of my friends here. The food is wonderful.03/03/2013 00:00:00Tsunami Clapham SouthExcellent food as always and prics are not too high28/02/2013 00:00:00excellent foodgreat vibe but service a little slow as very busy. 20% off if you order before 7pm.27/02/2013 00:00:00DeliciousFantastic meal, the highlight was our seared sashimi starter - out of this world! Great to find a good Japanese restaurant locally without having to go in to central London.27/02/2013 00:00:00Best Japanese restaurant in town! This hidden gem in Clapham is wonderful. The food is cookd to perfection; the ambience wonderful and the cocktail bar the perfect compliment!19/02/2013 00:00:00Excellent dinner at TsunamiExcellent dinner at Tsunami in Clapham. They have the whole package here - good service, great choice of Japanese food and excellent quality of food. Although, Nobu and Zuma may offer a (much) smarter venue and lots of "beautiful people", for top quality Japanese food and good value prices, you can't beat Tsunami, in my view.18/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely night outFriendly and attentive staff, attractive decor, delicious food (must try the soft shell crab dumplings!) and original cocktails. Save for a more special occasion but a must do for Clapham.16/02/2013 00:00:00A treat for your tastebuds...We went to Tsunami for an evening meal. We started with the salt and chilli squid which was absolutely delicious - the highlight of the meal for me. Not to say that what followed was not excellent - it was. Fishy tempura were moreish although the scallop ones seemed a little over-cooked. A selection of nigiri and special rolls were well presented and the sweet shrimp and yellowtail in particular were good. The meal ended with a really good coffee and some tempting truffles. Along with the passionfruit/chilli mohito all the courses added up to a meal that was really well-presented, full of surprising, zingy flavours in a relaxed yet sophisticated ambience. The whole thing, including service, came to £45 each. Very enjoyable indeed.13/02/2013 00:00:00Never fails to impressTsunami Clapham is an old favourite which never fails to impress. The Gin Dara and soft shell crab rolls are amazing. I'm told that the wasabi lamb is good too.12/02/2013 00:00:00Couldn't fault it!We went early(ish) following reviews about it getting rather busy and seemed to time it just right as there were enough covers to give a good atmosphere without being too loud to talk. The food and service was fabulous, really fresh flavours and beautifully presented. We had a number of appetisers and a couple of mains, the flavours were fantastic and portion size was good (we both love our food and eat to burst!) I have already recommended it to a number of friends. YUMMERS.07/02/2013 00:00:00Great food as usualWe had a selection of starters and main courses to share and they were all delicious. The scallops were exceptional and the sashimi was delicious too. All in all a top meal.27/01/2013 16:00:00South London GemTsunami in Clapham is a real gem serving terrific food, in an atmospheric venue. I've been a few times and love the buzz. Great for couples, a girly catch up or group of friends.24/01/2013 16:00:00Tsunami lunch/sushiI've been in the evenin before and it's quite expensive but worth it l. This time we went for lunch, my boyfriend had the 2 courses for £15-really good value, I had the £10.50 sushi, delicious, really fresh, also really good value. Cocktails were amazing but not cheap.18/01/2013 16:00:00Simply deliciousI had high expectations dining at Tsunami and they were all far exceeded. We chose a selection of dumplings, sushi and teriyaki and everything was absolutely delicious. We got a bottle of the least expensive white wine which was still great, so I am sure it only gets better the more you spend. The ambiance in the restaurant was chic and cozy, and the presentation of the food was beautiful. I will definitely go back again soon!17/01/2013 16:00:00Another brilliant meal at TsunamiYet again, this restaurant delivered! The food is always excellent (especially the blackened cod!), the drink selection great and affordable, and the margaritas supberb!04/01/2013 16:00:00Great Food!I love this restaurant - the food is fabulous. It's very similar to Zuma in Knightsbridge but at a fraction of the price.

The blackened cod was fantastic....15/10/2012 00:00:00Superb foodThe food was fantastic! I had the aubergine as a starter (delicious) and eel as a main (also delicious). We had cocktails to start which were original and tasty. Every part of the meal, including drinks, was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved it!31/08/2012 16:00:00You have to try the black cod!Went out for a meal with friends. The waiter hovered a little. However, he was very knowledgable and gave good advice on the variety of dishes we ate. Yummy cocktails and overall a lovely night out for catch up with friends. Be prepared to spend a little but the food is very yummy. Anniversary or birthdays - try it out.22/08/2012 16:00:00Wonderful family mealHave been many times before, and as always a lovely evening.27/07/2012 16:00:00Great lunch dealsI went for Sunday lunch with a friend to Tsunami in Clapham. There were lots of set menu options for reasonable prices - even on weekends. I had the sushi meal deal which, for just over £10, included miso soup and 11 pieces of sushi. The food was good quality and well presented. The waiter couldn't do enough for us but wasn't overbearing. Tsunami has an excellent cocktail selection as well as an extensive wine list. I was a little disappointed it didn't have a bigger variety of Japanese plum wines which I love. However, it was great to find a Japanese restaurant that caters for vegetarian sushi lovers like myself! I would definitely suggest diners give this one a try.01/07/2012 00:00:00One of the best restaurants!Tsunami Clapham is the best Japanese restaurant in London from an all round entertainment perspective... it is also one of the best places to go for the food of all food types!

Excellent food and cocktails as always, and excellent value for money with 20% off food offer pre-7.00 pm. New style sashimi, sushi, tempura and other classic dishes such as black cod with miso, are all very fresh and well presented. Beef cooked at the table on a hot stone was also very good. This is a regular venue for us and i think we are very fortunate to have such a good Japanese restaurant on our doorstep.07/03/2012 16:00:00
