A word from Trishna - London
With its smart location just off pf Marylebone High Street, Trishna is miles away from the original Mumbai restaurant known for its exquisite seafood. The London offshoot is a contemporary space that combines marble, exposed brickwork, oak and glass to create an elegant but unpretentious dining room. Head Chef Rohit Ghai, uses only the best British produce and a focus on Indian coastal cuisine. Diners are encouraged to share dishes like Dorset brown crab with garlic butter; malwani jhinga curry, infused with spices and coconut masala; and the delicious seafood biriyani. An extensive list of fine wines compiled by Sommelier Sunaina Sethi, complete this flawless dining experience.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious food! Restaurant had such a noise level so you could hardly hear what your guests said nor what the waiters said. The main waiter wanted you to get ready asap so he had a table free for new guests."
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "wonderfully located, beautifully decorated, extensive wine list, good service and excellent food. pricey though."

  • "We fancied trying somewhere different for lunch and chose Trishna, being relatively recently Michelin star rated. I must say that we all found the Seafood Salad starter and the Pinot Noir to be sublime. Great use of spice and texture. Personally I would have liked the option of some veg with my main. Staff were very friendly in this comfortably relaxed and informal restaurant. We will return and would recommend it as an alternative to Benares."

  • "Had the lunch set menu which was great value. Very tasty lamb curry and my friend had the shrimp curry, which came with an assortment of tasty sides. The food was excellent but the lunch was marred somewhat by the experience of being in a completely empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Still, can't fault the restaurant for that and combined with the very friendly service, would definitely recommend."

  • "Went for my fiancee's birthday meal. Being indian ourselves and having heard great reviews, our expectations were quite high. Food was good - especially the pheasant tikka. however I wasn't blown away by the food. i think it's hard to do high endf indian food well as it's not meant to be fancy dining. the wines with the meals were a good pick though Overall OK but wouldn't go back"

  • "Very good lunch at Trishna - Good, generous food and good value"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "The food was tasty but the restaurant lacked ambience, even on mothers day. We did have one dish brought out to us which was seafood based when it was supposed to be vegetarian - they did rectify the issue but you would think a restaurant of this calibre would get it right first time around - especially when they knew everyone was vegetarian."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Excellent welcome and genuinely caring service throughout. Great ambiance. Fabulous food - inventive, tasty and delicious - spices and textures. Thank you all at Trishna"
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "I was very happy to finally find a Michelin star restaurant that is not French/British food. The dishes were excellent, refined and delicate. The staff was not particularly friendly though. But I had a good night and probably be back."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Took my mum there for her birthday thinking it was a michellin star restaurant and the place looked good on their website. However, when getting there the decor actually just looked like a cafe, deeply disappointed by that. The starters were good but the main was extremely bland and you can't get a specific type of naan bread you wanted, you had to have a mixed basket. The dessert selection was also very poor. Extremely pricey for what you actually get. Whilst the service was good, extremely disappointed!"
    dined on 16/03/2014
  • "We were a party of four and we all chose to eat the lunchtime light-bites. We were more than satiated and were all extremely impressed with the food and the service. Everything chosen was extremely delicious but the star of the meal for me was the bream and Kerala prawn curry. We all agreed we would not hesitate to return."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "7 course dinner, mostly impeccable food. Loved my first ever soft shell crab! each course was well considered and excuted as always with Trishna. Was not impressed by the carrot halva dessert though. As much as we liked the changes, terribly missed the guinea fowl tikk and the coastal lamb on the tasting menu - being both our favourites."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "Trishna provided an excellent venue for a working lunch. The menu was perfect for sharing and has something for just about every taste. Service was especially attentive."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "Busy for a Tuesday night. Waiting staff working hard to look after all clientale. Imaginative and varied menu with fresh-tasting ingredients well presented (portions not too huge). Recommended."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Trishna is a modern indian restaurant near Marylebone High Street. Tried the tasting menu which had good flavours but not michelin star quality. Portions small and quite expensive on that basis. Service attentive but slow. Good for business lunches rather than dates."
    dined on 16/02/2014
  • "Beautiful restaurant, great food, but ate too much - it was soooo delicious. Will refine choices next time - looking forward to it already."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "Service was a bit slow albeit the restaurant was packed. The food was inventive and delicious. I would highly recommend the The Duck Sheesh Kebabs and Guinea Fowl TIkka."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "I had the soft shell crab followed by the Keralan prawn curry and it's the best Indian meal I've had in over a year when I visited Benares - definitely worth a visit!"
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Same reliable lunch menu after recent refurbishment, thoroughly enjoyable with attentive but discrete service"
    dined on 09/02/2014
  • "Nice place, good set menue options. I cant say that it is my favorite Indian place, but i dont mind to come back."
    dined on 05/02/2013
  • "Decent up and coming restaurant. Nice alternative on the Indian end with good flavours and and amazing lamb cutlet, but still definitely still learning and growing. Ambience can be a bit noisy and service can be slow"
    dined on 26/09/2013
  • "and still our first choice non-European dining-room. Service, food and overall just excellent and made even more so by the (unasked-for) deletion from the bill of a course I has not ordered but was happy to eat anyway. Most fair and they should be commended in these greedy, profiteering rip-off times. We have been here now perhaps five times and will certainly return as it is now a firmly established favourite for Sunday lunch."
    dined on 29/12/2013
  • "Trishna was fantastic as always. Great food, great atmosphere and wine. Highly recommended"

  • "What a great restaurant, lovely food, great service and good value."
    dined on 08/10/2013
  • "so sooooo surprised it has a michelin star! Are these stars for free these days?? Who awarded the star?? I have a dhaba in delhi which cooks far better food...this was very average!"
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "Trishna is one of the few Indian restaurants that's managed to snag a Michelin star and it's not hard to see why. The pre-theatre menu provides 4 courses (of 2 choices each) so you get to savour a larger variety of tastes. Be warned, the third (main) course is quite filling. The only significant downside is the location which is rather far from the Tube and thus made it a bit of a rush (sprint really) to get to our show in the West End on time. Not much to be done about that, of course, unless they could open a half-hour earlier!"
    dined on 10/08/2013
  • "We made a reservation for 8.45pm. Arrived a 7 minutes early and was told to leave and return in 15 minutes. kicked out into the cold with my father-in-law and his brother (who had arrived from paris) as our table was not ready. we returned 20mins later and was told our table was still not ready and to wait outside. great start to a family dinner. the staff were unaccommodating and destroyed what was meant to be a pleasant family reunion. i will never be returning.... given the choice in the area, i have plenty of options..."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "More upmarket than the Mumbai original and less focus on seafood, but one of the best curries I have ever had. Spectacular flavours."
    dined on 21/11/2013
  • "The lunch time set menus must surely be one of the best value offers in town. Outstanding quality and presentation, but be warned that most dishes are at least moderately spicy."
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "Fantastic food, portions a little on the small side perhaps? The starters / salads make this superb. The more standard style curry dishes are a bit mediocre. Service and atmosphere a bit staid, goes with the location I guess. Have been here with young kids/family for lunch, and also for a group business meal. Worked well for both occasions. Also good for a quiet meal. Recommend the food highly."
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "First experience of a Michelin starred indian restaurant and well worth the visit. Felt really weird having posh wine with each dish but they perfectly matched the food we had ordered. I would say the only down side was that the main course did not quite live up to expectations considering how delicious the first 3 courses were (the guinea fowl tikka was particularly good). Would definitely visit for a special occasion again."
    dined on 09/11/2013
  • "Met a friend for Saturday lunch; the service was friendly and attentive, the food was sublime. We had the tasting menu and each course tasted fabulous especially the Aloo Chat (I want that recipe). The premises are really great too. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant"
    dined on 02/11/2013
  • "I was hoping for something new, and i wasn't disappointed. My wife and i tried the 5 course menu incl. wine. Every course was a delight, and the wines was very nicely attuned the each course. We will be back, next time we are in London."
    dined on 26/10/2013
  • "Basically it is as good as ever which is why i have been there over and over in the past 4 years. This is one of the best modern Asian cuisines i have had the pleasure to experience. My only critisism is that there should be a larger choice of wines from £20/£25."
    dined on 18/09/2013
  • "Finally made it to this restaurant which has been recommended by many of my friends. It's informal but smart. The service is excellent, better than many posher places in the West End. Just reading the menu made me decide to return. Really good choice of interesting dishes. Excellent wine list with some unusually but rewarding selections. All the food brought to the table was really good with a variety of flavours."
    dined on 19/10/2013
  • "We went there on a weekday to taste their four course meal with matching wine. The service was fine. The food wasn't bad but none of the meals impressed us. For a one star michelin restaurant, we expected more."
    dined on 26/09/2013
  • "As always ...an amazing experience. Love the food...."

  • "Great food, great wine and great service! Many thanks."

  • "Seafood was quite good, but vegetarian options are limited. The food was average at best, and service wasn't great. We ordered a bottle of champagne our glasses were empty for ages- the waiter didn't seem to notice- the bottle was nowehere near the table, and we finished our meal with half a bottle left. We asked for a simple substitution in the dessert dish- the waiter was quite confused, it took about 20 minutes for dessert to arrive and when it finally did, we were given something totally different. Couldn't imagine another 20 minute wait so paid the bill and left!"
    dined on 04/10/2013
  • "Frozen prawns used in our curry - honestly did not expect it from a 1-star restaurant. Very disappointing. The ceiling light above our table was playing up and going on and off. It was rather disturbing. But after we told the waitress and subsequently the manager, no one seemed to do anything. When we asked again, all we were told was that there was nothing they could do. While there were clearly tables free in front of us, we asked to move. Problem solved. Was it that difficult to offer such solution??? 1-star...? I kept returning bringing different friends in the first year of their opening as I was sooo super impressed with everything. But it seems that standards have gone downhill..."
