Diner Reviews
  • "Our third visit to the upstairs at Thomas Cubitt - and the Sunday Lunch was absolutely excellent. It was Mothers Day, so there was free champagne for mums - and the dining room was full of smart mums with grown families treating them to great food. Well done!"

  • "A fantastic Sunday roast. Wonderful service by an attentive and kind Canadian waiter."
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "We had to wait for over an hour for our starters. Although the staff kindly waived to charge us for the starters and service it left a disappointing "aftertaste". The rather noisy atmosphere did not help either. The food served, though, was excellent and enjoyable."
    dined on 18/03/2014
  • "Thanks again to the team at the Thos Cubitt for looking after us so well. We werent particularly demanding but they gave us the window table we asked for on Top Table and looked after us spendidly. Food was excellent as always. Would recommend it. Many thanks D"

  • "Good food, price is ok (not cheap but not so expensive to feel cheated) and nice area. Sometimes they have trainee servers, less experienced, who might need to get more experience on dealing with customers, but I guess they'll get there - the usual staff are very friendly."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "We enjoyed a simply delicious meal for four in the upstairs dining room on Saturday night. All the courses were of the highest quality, the service was friendly and attentive and the dinining room has a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. We shall definitely be back...soon!"
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "Had really good service from the team and the food was very well presented. All in all a great place to have a business meeting in the upstairs restaurant as the tables are not too close together."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "Yes, We liked this resturant a lot. The food was lovely, the ambience is familiar and elegance and the service very good... at the end of the meal we decided to book another dinner for a very special family event! Let`s try it!"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "My wife and I had dinner here on Valentine's weekend. She ordered the venison and I the lamb neck, both with he intention of sharing some of each. However we each enjoyed our entrees so much that we only had a bite of the others. Both were delicious. The side dishes were really well done too. Broccoli with mustard seeds was a great taste combination. The deserts weren't our favorites...chocolate better than rhubarb one, but overall we both really enjoyed the dining experience."

  • "Friendly service. Michelin star quality food and presentation. Venison, duck and fillet steak cooked to perfection. Will definately be going back."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Good for a family lunch, lunch with friends or a casual business lunch. Lovely seasonal food, good service. Dining room upstairs had a good atmosphere - not too buttoned up but fancy enough if you want to impress someone. Will try some of the other restaurants in the group - really good!"
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "Lovely ambiance and welcoming, attentive service. Good menu with plenty of variety but not too much choice. I didn't like the piped music but maybe that's because I'm a middle aged old fogie. All the food was delicious, esp the crab starter. My main course was "warm" as opposed to hot but just about OK and very tasty. I would definitely return."
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Ordered salad as was in a hurry, would love to try some meat dishes next time."
    dined on 05/01/2014
  • "I have often dined at this restaurant but on this occasion it was disappointing. Portions rather small, service not particularly warm - lots of waving of arms for attention. Will give a miss for a few months."
    dined on 14/01/2014
  • "Great meal here - excellent, but unobtrusive service. Only had a main course, but both venison and market fish of day (cod beautifully cooked, with pureed buttered carrots a roast potatoes) were excellent. Quite pricey in the upstairs restaurant, but just about justifies it."
    dined on 08/01/2014
  • "Excellent wine list. Interesting menu and food was very well prepared. Service was good, but not memorable; staff could be more engaging, attentive, and friendly."
    dined on 24/12/2013
  • "This is a lovely restaurant with good food and choice of wines. We were happy with everything we ate, the reason not to give 5 is that nothing particularly stood out. The service was good, although towards the end of the night the staff seemed to disappear and we had to get up and look for them when we wanted to pay the bill. The ambience is good, it's a pub style but quite special so good for many different occasions."
    dined on 30/10/2013
  • "Excellent time Christmas Eve. Wish I had found top table years ago. I went online to top table and could see what restaurants were available instantly. Booking for Thomas Cubitt was so easy even I was amazed. They send you two confirmation emails - brilliant. Thomas Cubritt itself was the 'almost' perfect setting for a romantic Christmas Eve dinner for my wife and myself. Very good food and service. We will be definitely going again. Oh ... What would have made it 'perfect' would have been a fire in the 'working' fire place. That would have been sublime ambiance. We passed it on so hopefully other guests will now benefit."
    dined on 24/12/2013
  • "Great setting with very friendly staff. Service slow but would revisit as they were honest about it."
    dined on 16/12/2013
  • "Work team Xmas dinner with wives, is always a very good experience at Thomas Cubitt, and this was no different."
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "Two friends, one from Paris and the other from Sussex, and myself had a wonderful reunion dinner at Thomas Cubitt. The food was fantastic and the service professional without being stuffy. The scallops to start were done to perfection, my friends enjoyed British Castle Mey steaks and I had salmon. The puddings were fantastic with a peanut brittle and ice cream sharing a plate with chocolate fondant! The best things about the restaurant upstairs is that the rooms are quiet; you can actually have a conversation with your guests which is so unusual in London with wooden floors and plasterboard. Nothing flimsy about the Thomas Cubitt. It is fine dining in a properly appointed dining room."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "I have never eaten anywhere where they refuse to move tables to accommodate a large party. They made us split up our party to 2 tables. Incredible really as we had young children with us. Ruined our day and they showed no sign of being apologetic. Very rude staff."
    dined on 01/12/2013
  • "I booked Thomas Cubitt to show off the best of British food for some visitors. And it was very disappointing. The Sunday roast was dry and over cooked, Yorkshire pudding burnt. And a very dull dessert menu. The wine list was not only over priced but very young, I struggled to find any decent bottle to order. It's not what I recalled, the quality of food has went down. I much rather go somewhere else for the price I paid, it's not competitive for the London dining scene with this quality of food and wine."
    dined on 17/11/2013
  • "awful in every respect- didn't know such food was served these days and not attentive staff - had to keep looking and calling for attention. Should be closed - restaurants of this nature are not called for any longer. Very very disappointing and not cheap. I can honestly say there was nothing I enjoyed in my lunch and my wife agrees wholeheartedly"
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "I took my client to the TC as an alternative to going into central London. We were not disappointed at all by the diversion. Great buzz downstairs for drinks and then a civilised table upstairs. Super food, good portions, absolutely delicious. Service was understated and rather excellent. For the quality of food and service we had the £100 per head was very well spent. We were the last to leave!"
    dined on 12/11/2013
  • "met 2 business colleagues for lunch. We had table d'hôte menu at £19.50 for 2 courses. The food was delicious but the portions were tiny. I am a regular user of the Cubitt espec for sunday lunch. When we have eaten lunch here a la carte the portions have always been of normal size. I guess if you do the table d'hôte you have to expect smaller portions for the cost? I didn't mind but my male colleagues were still hungry!!!! The food is always of excellent quality but I get annoyed at the cost of the sides. Maybe they should think about changing their pricing structure and including at least one portion of vegetables."

  • "Friendly staff, good service, food was delicious , bill was reasonable. Would recommend"

  • "Food was great. The customers from Japan were fully satisfied. Thank you very much."
    dined on 25/10/2013
  • "Love the ambience, location and the menu. There is always a good choice overall. Food was very good that evening, however, service was somewhat slow. Otherwise, a very enjoyable evening."
    dined on 21/10/2013
  • "I have been to the TC several times before. I felt that on this occassion, Sunday lunch, that the menu was limited and not very appealing. You don't really go there on a Sunday for fish and chips. Service wasn't great either and there were lots of kids there"
    dined on 20/10/2013
  • "Been a few times now and the menu does vary from each visit. Good wine list - the house Rioja is very good. The lamb with a crispy bit of lamb tounge is really good - don't be put off by the lambs tounge as it it is breaded and fried!! Good British menu with a twist."
    dined on 19/10/2013
  • "Good friendly place for a casual dinner. Lovely sitting outside for lunch weather allowing. Staff are friendly and efficient."
    dined on 14/02/2013
  • "Food and atmosphere are far better downstairs, but when you need a quiet dining room for relaxed conversation, or want a reserved table instead of waiting, the environment of the first floor room trumps the mediocrity of the food."
    dined on 15/10/2013
  • "I like going to the the Thomas Cubitt. Very nicely appointed dining rooms, inventive locally sourced and proud of it menu, and good delivery on the food. Scallop starter was skimpy on the scallops but nicely cooked, lamb was perfectly cooked and even the lamb tongue was good. Guests were happy with their mains, too. Desserts nicely done. Service was spotty and a bit pushy--is it only me or does everyone get annoyed when the waiter interrupts the conversation to announce that they need something? But the maitre d', who was helping with the service, made up for it -- he was a real charmer."
    dined on 11/10/2013
  • "I wanted to introduce a foreign friend to British food and was recommended Thomas Cubbit. It more than served its purpose - outstanding British food in a wonderful environment."
    dined on 10/10/2013
  • "The duck was amazing and my friend had the fish which also scored top marks. My cheesecake dessert was a little on the bland side though. It sounded amazing but unfortunately was disappointing."
    dined on 27/09/2013
  • "Solid menu, friendly and quick service. Varied wine list. Pork belly was very good indeed."
    dined on 24/09/2013
  • "The food at the Thamas Cubitt restaurant is simply fantastic. I would highly recommend you try this restaurant. Very good for all occasions."

  • "Always great food, service and experience when visiting Thomas Cubitt."

  • "Good food, although service was slow the night we attended."
