The Wolseley Ratings and Reviews
Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We booked long in advance and as expected the place was brimming. Service and food were of impeccable quality though - as we have come to expect fort he Wolseley and as we know we will be paying for. I love it though, it has been one of my favourite places for any time of day in London for years now.
Excellent dinner. Good food, great ambience and very pleasant service if at times a bit slow. There aren't really enough waiters for the number of tables. The table was not ready on time but only a few minutes late, which is fine. However we were asked to wait in the bar which was rather crowded and small so there was nowhere to stand and drink. This resulted in the people who were already there standing in front of the bar thereby preventing new arrivals from being able to order a drink. The extensive staff were indifferent to this and made no effort to do something about it

Great food and service. Good wines but I was told by the waiter that the only alcohol free drink available was fruit punch (which is worse than it sounds) and water. Ordered my steak medium and it came well done. They changed it without hesitation and it came with fresh new sides.

Still a very high quality operation. Service is outstanding as is the quality of the food. Always a great option when in London.
Excellent food in a continental ambience
This restaurant reminds me of a Viennese café, and the menu also has nods in that direction. This is a beautiful space right next to the Ritz. We ate an early dinner and enjoyed it greatly. I had the lobster and chips with samphire; each component was perfectly executed. My colleague had a venison special with polenta and autumn vegetables - also excellent. I wanted everything on the dessert list but settled for one of the splendid ice-cream sundaes. Fabulous. The service was really excellent, with a couple of waiters tag-teaming to ensure we were always well looked after at the very busy time. Our wines (by the glass) were also very good. Pricey for an American but what can you expect for Mayfair?
My sister and I visited, after great reviews of their brunch! We were promptly seated but sadly it took time to place our order for food. We both tried endlessly to make eye contact but we were unsuccessful. It was busy but there were many members of staff clearing tables and standing idly on the side. Eventually we placed orders for coffee and eggs benedict. The coffee was creamy and smooth. My eggs benedict was perfect, but sadly my sister's egg was hard boiled rather than poached. They were kind enough to remake it. We then enjoyed a double chocolate brioche which I highly recommend. I would definitely go back as I enjoyed the food very much. If just ask that the staff pay good attention to us once we have been seated as we waited over 15 mins to be noticed.

Once again a great visit to my wife's favourite.
Returned for what is something like a once a year visit to this restaurant, this time for my wife's birthday. Again the whole experience and ambience of the venue was outstanding. My wife is lactose intolerant and I mentioned this and the occasion in the detail of my Opentable booking. The staff were fully aware and catered for her intolerance during ordering from the menu. Both our meals were excellent as always. At the end they presented my wife with a surprise complimentary 'Happy Birthday' dessert which was a lovely touch but we had to mention that it included cream which it turned out was not lactose free. They were a little embarrassed after getting everything else so right throughout the rest of the food we ordered and they immediately arranged a substitute, bringing the culprit items back for me on a separate plate. It was a slight shame that their best intentions slightly backfired on them but other than that slight oversight in their act of generosity, everything else was as good as we have come to expect from this establishment. We will be back (next year).
This was our second visit to the Wolseley and was nowhere near as good as the first. The waiting staff appeared dis-interested and were openly arguing amongst themselves . I asked for vegetarian menu and eventually got it after 30 mins and asking twice more. Not the service I expected at the price paid would not rush back.

Always a wonderful experience at The Wolseley! - The Decor, service and food make every visit feel like a special one. I have eaten afternoon tea and lunches here and feel you get good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unique restaurant, whatever the occasion!
Back in the 60s
The Wolseley is absolutely one of my pref place in London. The atmosphere is so cosy made by the dim lights. You must visit it for: - afternoon tea ( better in the week) - brunch - For a proper Plateau Royal of seafood - For a proper British Sunday Roast
Good but not good enough.
We had a very nice lunch. Good food in a quality environment. All the ingredients for a great experience but it wasn't for the simple fact that we didn't feel welcome. It's really shows that the tables should be maximised for the highest output. Turning the experience into a quick transition.
We received a nice greeting. We were warmly shown to a nice table. The staff were great. On the money. They make the place. The place is very quaint. The food though was only average. Had lobster bisque which was pretty good. Generous pieces of lobster. The fish of the day was a generous portion but slightly over and a bit dry and salty. Accompanied by the tiniest portion of cavalo nero i have ever come across -it is a large leaf vegetable. Same for the butternut squash. Ordered some chips to pad out the dish. Followed with a coffee which was a full pot - but not hot enough. Glad I went but will not rush to repeat the experience.
Disappointing meal at the Wolseley
The Wolseley is a wonderful setting with great atmosphere spoiled by very casual inattentive service and poor food. A large portion of scampi was not sufficient for a meal and calves liver ordered pink arrived charred and overcooked. Hamburgers were basic and small and considering the quality of the chef should have been superior to anything eaten elsewhere but sadly were nothing as good as the local pub. Only the fries and bread basket were of quality. It is a great shame as the venue is beautiful and front of house staff impressive.

Excellent as always. Good simple food cooked to perfection. Great service.
Best West End Restaurant
As usual the restaurant was buzzing and people queuing for tables after 11pm. No wonder as the food, service and atmosphere are the best in the west end. Perfect mix. Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic Dinner with Friends
The service was exceptional and that was with a totally full house! The front-of-house people are amazing! The meal was also terrific! Duck livers and lobster bisque for starters were delicious, the schnitzels cooked to perfection, and the fish special of Sea Trout was the hit of the evening. Puddings were so fine too, the Lucians, and the old favourite crime brûlée . We were a group of very old friends who found the dining experience delightful from the first step into the restaurant to the final stagger to the taxi.
Buzzy, beautiful setting and excellent food
Beautiful place (a former bank), buzzy atmosphere and good service (they changed our table without problem although the restaurant was almost full). Food was of excellent quality, especially the scampis with saffran mayo and the pheasant. Pepper fillet was too strong though. Italian waiter Alex was particularly nice and added a personal touch to the service (ordered macarons on the house after being told it was my wife's birthday). Wine list is interesting with sufficient variety at various price levels. Overall it's not cheap, but then the place has character and delivery is very good.

A Perfect Lunch
The Wolseley is always a gem , the building alone sets the scene for a unique experience. The team at the Wolseley give effortless and timeless service with great interactions and a feeling of value as a guest ...regardless of the pace or how busy the restaurant is its always done with style. The menu is full of classics and some new versions of classics always made with the best produce. The biggest decision will be what to eat ...and what goes on the list for the next visit. A meal at the Wolseley should be on everybody's list ....

I always love the Wolseley. It's beautiful to eat in, and the food is excellent. We had a business meeting, so wanted a quiet corner and were sat perfectly on an upper table overlooking the restaurant. Gorgeous.
Met friends here from breakfast - food and service were excellent as always.
A great place with delicous food
Not only the food is great, also the interior. In the groundfloor you have a pub, in the first floor you finf a trendy cosy restaurant.
The Wolsely on 12/10/15. Lunch.
This is the second time at The Wolseley & again it was fantastic. Great ambience, lovely food & wine, delivered with fast service. Its a fantastic location almost opposite The R.A. & is set in a building which really has a wow factor. I will be going again............
As always we enjoyed the ambiance. The rib eye steak was poor and we were comped for one. We will return but will not order steak.

I really wanted to enjoy this afternoon tea, but I just couldn't. It was so crowded and noisy it felt so cramped, and the service was terrible. We had to wait more than 30m for our food (considering we'd booked the afternoon tea - they should really have known to get it started!) and my boyfriend didn't get his champagne until my tea had already gone cold. The staff were too busy so we had to battle to get attention. Very disappointing.
When everything just works
I had made an erroneous booking for a month later so when I arrived for a client lunch, reception staff could not find my booking. Despite the fact that the restaurant, as always, was fully booked, the receptionist immediately understood and without ado, quickly found me a table. Subsequent service was perfect, food was ad describe don’t he tin and the attentive water made sure that my water glass was always filled - I never had to ask. Food arrived warm and at the same time, was served to the right person and with the requested condiments. Coffee service included a little chocolate and a glass of water. It seems obvious but faultless service is so hard to fund these days. It was just such a pleasure to be met with perfection in every way, correct and unobtrusive service. Granted, this does not come cheap but sometimes it is so worthwhile paying for it and just enjoying the fact that it IS actually still possible in London.
Nice meal: poor service deflated the experience
Came to the restaurant with a friend for an evening meal. This place has a great ambience, and you can sense that peopke here enjoy their food. Our dishes were well prepared, and full pd flavour. However, our table service had much ro be desired and ruined an otherwise wonderful meal. No one who pays good money for a meal should have to tolerate a surly waiter, whose attitude and actions were at best questionable; at worst deliberately annoying. Such a shame, as otherwise the food was delicious and highly recommendable.
As always, just hits the spot!
There arent many restaurants in London which somehow just deliver the goods at the right time in the right place and at the right price everytime , but this is one of them. I love the decor, the staff are wonderful and it manages to be combine glamour with unpretentious menu which is simple and excellently executed. There is none of the snootiness so prevalent in London establishments but you leave feeling like royalty. Im coming back again this week!Loved the steak tartare and wine by the glass selection is more than adequate- again not a common London feature. Bravo!

The service was exceptionally good. My guests were very late, but the manager and waiters were very patient, especially one name Juan, who gave us a very warm service and was utterly sweet.
A ' Must visit ' London restaurant
The Wolseley is a fabulous setting , convenience location , and serves everything you would expect.Booking is slightly easier than year or two ago , but leave at least one week ahead.Loved the variety of the menu and it was not overpriced . The service was prompt and attentive

lovely restaurant, very good food
a little pricey for what we received but the service was very good. We lingered a bit and were asked to move to the bar which was a little tacky. But overall it was a great night out and I would recommend. Need more salad options.
Wonderful in every way save acoustically
From warm welcome, service, food, wonderful decor, all was perfect. But, although my host and I were sitting 90 rather than 180 degrees apart, we had to raise our voices to hear each other. Don't know what could be done about that. In any event, The Wolseley's great food was at a higher level than our conversation.
Outstanding front of house and service, as always. Wonderful ambience - and somewhere you just go back to time and time again. Dessert soufflé always excellent, wine list affordable and good value. Food very good.
