  • "What a lovely find. Fantastic setting, fabulous service and great food. What more could you ask for. All mums got a glass of prosecco on arrival which I thought was a nice touch."

  • "Took my Mum there for Sunday lunch for Mother's Day. Have been there before many times and as always the meal and service was excellent, the staff are always attentive and friendly."

  • "It was our second visit and unfortunately the service has gone downhill. The staff are lovely but the service is slow and unorganised. Nevertheless the food is still great and the ambience is perfect, couldn't fault it. Don't come here if you are in a rush or expect speedy service. If you fancy a slow chilled afternoon with a nice setting and good food, I would recommend."

  • "In one word, overrated. Poor service - we had a booking where we had requested a table by the window. We were shown to a poky table in one of the dark rooms despite a table being available in one of the brighter rooms (in the end, they were ok to allow us to sit there). The food was nothing special. As we were leaving, the staff pretended that they were talking to each other and didn't even say goodbye to us (despite us having tipped them just over 10%). Don't be fooled by the website, they way we were!"

  • "Would not recommend this place to anyone. The service was appalling and we felt that they couldn't be bothered to serve us and when they had they were not attentive at all. No one came back to see if we were all ok or if we wanted more drinks etc. The order was wrong and we all ate ours and one of our guests had to eat on their own when theirs finally arrived. We were over charged on drinks too! Shame really as the setting is lovely by the lake but would not go back!!"

  • "Chose this venue after searching on top table for suitable eateries between surrey and kent. The food was medium standard , well presented and the staff were lovely. The decor was inviting and the fishing lake right next to the venue makes for a pictoresque setting. It is not good however for the disabled or eldery as there are two flights of steep and unrailed stairs. If you are book with this in mind and pick a table on the toilet facility level. I would go again though as it has a lovely atmosphere and would make a nice regular venue in a suitable position with pleasant views and reasonable choice of food and good service."

  • "The Windmill does really good food and the setting is absolutely lovely. The wine is good too. The only downside is we were sitting inside on a really gorgeous day and I had hoped to be outside. But I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a quintessential English country pub that does great food."

  • "Appalling service ~ long queues~ no direction behind the bar/food counter One light in the toilet cubicle wasn't working The Dyson hand drier wasn't working One tap wasn't working Special areas outside which had recently been developed weren't in use and cordoned off Nice young kids serving, but they really needed some direction, as there was a lack of authority~ absolute shame as we most certainly wouldn't go again The only plus was the glorious sunshine"

  • "Booked a table for six and was looking forward to another delicious meal at The Wiremill. Food was delicious but sadly overshadowed by appalling service. We received the wrong meal and was then accused of ordering incorrectly. Even after it was shown order was taken properly there was no apology. Took 35 mins after we had finished eating before a dessert order was taken. Then one of the desserts was missing. Coffees arrived like warm at best. To top it off we waited another 30-40 mins to pay the bill. We had 3 different servers during the meal with no continuity, long waits, and surly attitudes of wait staff. Will think twice about going back."
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "Over the top food that the chefs cannot get right. Could be a great place if they just concentrated on tye bacis. My wifes pulled pork burger was stone cold had to be sent back. My lamb steak was tough as old boots."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "A return to the little gem that is The Wiremill as always lived up to expecattion. Having not been for a while I was pleased to learn standards remained as good as ever. Always a great atmosphere, even the drive there, and down the 'secret' country lane to the lakeside pub is a pleasure. Despite turning up late and just prior to kitchen close, we were welcomed and accommodated and the food and service were both first class. Love this place and will be back in the not too distant...."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Great pub, great location (I mean..., that view is outstanding!, great food, lovely staff! One of us was on a low carb diet and the chef tailored his meals accordingly. It was a bit hot where we sat as I was right next to the radiator but I kept forgetting to ask for it to be turned down so I only have myself to blame. I wasn't happy with my choice of roast beef and the chef kindly exchanged it for roast lamb which was outstandingly delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a lovely time."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "I've probably been here a dozen times in the last year, mainly for Sunday lunch. Since my last visit they have changed the chef to the detriment of the pub. The food has gone from very good to poor, nothing much more to add on that front. Other than that I like this pub, its quirky, good selection of wine and beer and really good staff. However as I only ever come to eat I won't be returning for a while in the hope the new chef either improves or moves on. Guess I need to look for a new favourite for my Sunday roast."
    dined on 09/02/2014
  • "Went here for Sunday lunch with my fiancee. It was reasonably priced for Surrey but if you have a love of good food, then it may not be for you; for a pub Sunday lunch it wasn't terrible but a touch bland and lacking in decent vegetables, the pudding seemed not homemade and there was too much of the gravy poured all over the plate. That aside, the ambience was good and we loved the quirky character of it. Not ideal for people with mobility problems (or the very tall)!"
    dined on 09/02/2014
  • "Service was poor. Staff brought incorrect drinks order followed by incorrect main courses. Very cold draught from the door. Have previously dined here and had to wait for 2 hours to be served. Would not recommend, particularly as it is pricier than other local pubs for not as good service."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Despite the lovely setting, the service at the Wiremill was possibly the worst I have ever seen. We were ignored on several occasions, with the entire staff ending up in the kitchen at one stage for an extended period of time. The food was average at best and I would never return. A real shame for a pub that used to be very good."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "A quite unusual building in an 'out of the way' place. The beer was excellent and was matched by the dining experience (both food and service). To top it all the location and view from the outside patio area across the lake was wonderful. I would imagine the place could get busy on sunny weekends in the spring/summer so early booking recommended. I will certainly come back."
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Although we had to wait for a table it was worth the delay. Lovely food and great service. It was just so hot as our seats were next to a radiator on full blast. Will be a great venue for summer."
    dined on 19/01/2014
  • "Had a wonderful meal at the Wiremill, food and value has never disappointed us there and service is always good! Looking forward to visiting again. Ambience lovely especially in the winter months by the fire."
    dined on 15/01/2014
  • "Service was quite slow & the restaurant wasn't busy so no excuse there. My wife & I both had the steak which was quite pricey for a pub, £18.50 & the quality was very poor & full of fat. On a positive, the kids meals were very good."
    dined on 01/01/2014
  • "Venue and location excellent . A Kire Royale was made with Prosecco and not champagne. The wild mushroom and goats cheese starter was made in a glass pot with a garnish to the top - not what was expected. The parfait was also in a pot with a thick layer of butter fat to the top - many slices of thick toast but an awful dressing on the salad garnish. The black pudding in the mashed potato with the Cumberland Sausages was overpowering - too much - and spoilt the meal. but the chocolate brownie was to die for! . Good pub grub but not as good as many we have been too. For its location it should be better and I would expect the people of Surrey to demand better standards but it was full"
    dined on 29/12/2013
  • "surprised at how good the food was considering it is "a pub" - was not happy that dogs could walk around inside though; I am animal phobic!!"
    dined on 30/11/2013
  • "Attended for Sunday Lunch with another couple who had a young child. Roast lunches ordered by all. Disappointed by the vegetables - mainly courgettes and single items of carrots, parsnips. However the lamb was fantastic - but portion sizes unwhelming for the price. Desserts were ok, again expensive for a warm at best sponge (supposed to be hot) and what was obviously Ambrosia custard in the opinions of three of us! Ambience and setting lovely, and will return - will give the main menu a go next time."
    dined on 24/11/2013
  • "The Wiremill is an outstanding pub/restaurant. We booked a table for 8 people and the food was exceptional, made with what we found out to be locally sourced produce. We ordered various roast dinners, mostly lamb and beef, and could not believe the quality of the meat and veg!! The service is great, with friendly attentive staff. Having dined out at many places around the world and in the UK this is a hidden treasure. With the lake at the side of the pub I can't wait to come back when the weather is warmer."
    dined on 24/11/2013
  • "Booked through Top Table for 8 - booking was messed up, so we didn't sit down for an hour. Food was slow after that - we were very hungry. Bar service also very slow. After looking at their website, I was expecting the food to be amazing, and it was priced quite well. But, it was quite disappointing. I had "Roast Pork with Crackling", but it was a fatty chop with hardly any meat. Service was friendly, just needs to speed up. I can understand that it's hard to make a profit in a pub these days, but maybe turn the boasting about the food down a bit - it doesn't live up to it. Lovely setting. Would be great for drinks on a summer evening."
    dined on 17/11/2013
  • "Absolutely gorgeous food and fab service. Will definitely be going back to sample more of their food."
    dined on 10/11/2013
  • "Great food and great service, had 3 little ones in tow and there was ample room at the table for highchairs."
    dined on 02/11/2013
  • "The food as always was very well presented and was very tasty. The pub is quirky with a wonderful view over a lake. The only negative is the service, it was a bit slow. Staff very friendly though and there was one female staff whose service was excellent, but this was not the case in the other staff. The chose of foods on the menu is considerable and the deserts are a speciality."
    dined on 24/10/2013
  • "We found the service rather slow. It took ages for our drinks to arrive and when the food came we had to send it back as the salmon was under cooked. The restruant was quite busy and there seemed to be a lot of staff hovering around, but not really using being very useful."
    dined on 18/10/2013
  • "A friendly group of ladies wanted to meet up for lunch and this was the perfect venue, pity it was too cold to sit out by the lake. We were made welcome, the food was hot and very tasty and the staff friendly."
    dined on 14/10/2013
  • "Really enjoyable evening. Great food and service highly recommend it for dinner. Try the lemon and lime cheesecake and blood orange sorbet, amazing."
    dined on 15/10/2013
  • "Went for afternoon lunch, very nice cosy atmosphere , service was good, but the only downfall was not enough hot food choice for a lunch, as £12.50 for Sausage and mash! So two of us went for a salad. However the Salad was Big and very tasty. Also the Burger was a bit tough. But saying that I have been there for an evening meal and really enjoyed it as there was specials to choose from."
    dined on 11/10/2013
  • "A very warming reception from the bar staff, efficient and friendly and nothing was a bother. A bit of a wait for the meal, but this was not a problem at all as we were in no hurry and when it came it was piping hot, very well presented, delicious and plentiful. Loved it and will be back!"
    dined on 29/09/2013
  • "Great little place on the lake and already planning our return - combine with a fishing trip?!"
    dined on 27/09/2013
  • "The atmosphere is great with good old fashioned real ale. Food was varied and good quality. Service was a little slow but staff were very helpful and friendly."
    dined on 21/09/2013
  • "Sunday lunch last week was great - no sooner had we finished eating than we were planning our next visit! Great sunday roasts and also interesting al la carte menu too. Service was freindly and attentive. Cant wait for my next visit."
    dined on 15/09/2013
  • "The service was not great very very slow and dirty plates left on tables. which ment there was a lot of wasps around which could of been prevented. We also were not given any knifes and forks or sauces even after asking."
    dined on 26/08/2013
  • "Disappointed with The Wiremill having not dined here for a couple of years. Slow very average food (the "Spatchcock Chicken" was in fact just four pieces of chicken and not a spatchcock at all). My mate's sausage and mash arrived and we thought it had been mixed up with my daughter's order as the bowl was half empty! Service very strained when the inside of the pub was only around 20% occupied. All in all rather a let down from what I remember as being a cracking pub in a unique setting. Unfortunately with so many pubs doing so much more in the area I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon."
    dined on 23/08/2013
  • "On arrival, we stood for 5 minutes in the rainy entrance for the 'greeter' to finish writing something on her list. Our table was squashed between two others; we could barely fit in and felt as if we were involved in our neighbours conversations all night. We waited 15 minutes after being seated for a menu and to give our drinks order. Starters took half an hour to arrive and mains a further 50 minutes. The size and condition of my Stilton and apple tart was laughable and my advertised carrot, red onion and tomato salad contained no red onion or carrot and only 4 tiny slivers of tomato - it was just green leaves with a mustard dressing sloshed over. The burgers, fish and sides could have been nice, but everything was luke warm."
    dined on 14/08/2013
  • "We took elderly aunties to the Wiremill this weekend. Satisfaction all round. The Sunday roasts were most agreeable. Between us we tried the Beef, Lamb and Salmon options which were each served with a Yorkshire pud the size of your face. We will be returning - only next time we'll attempt to get a table outside by the lake. It looked a beautiful setting for a meal."
