The TommyfieldLively and comfortable gastro-pubFits my vision of traditional Brit pub...old, rustic wooden floors, chairs,tables...limited but excellent ales & lagers on tap...menu of spring bok (thats a S African Gazelle), Kangaroo, & Venison meat pies, fish and chips, other pasta, meat & veg dishes...fun and interesting adventure for omnivores and tolerant vegetarians. Kangaroo less gamey than venison, closer to beef...no Spring Bok tonight...haddock hot & flaky, served with side of very pedestrian chips (fries). Service was great, the buzz as the pub filled with thank god its Friday-ites full of humor and good cheer. Kind of place I would like to go for comfort and warmth on a cold and rainy night or to celebrate a good friend's promotion or departure or other event of good fortune.17/05/2013 00:00:00Great service and amazingGreat service and amazing food as usual at the Tommyfield!31/03/2013 00:00:00The Best Steak and PiesThe Tommyfield reall has the best steak and pies in London, and the starters are amazing too!
Bring back the Chicken liver pate!!24/03/2013 00:00:00Mother's Day rugby! My fiancee and I took my parents to the Tommyfield for Mother's Day and it handily coincided with the England v Italy rugby match, so dad was happy too! The food was delicious and very good portion sizes. The men had a sunday roast and mum and I had the grilled Hake. Dessert was a naughty addition.... the banoffee pie was delicious but beat me in the portion size! No complaints from anyone and the service was attentive but not over-bearing. Highly recommend this place for good food, service and ambience.10/03/2013 00:00:00Good!The Tommyfield is on fire at the moment. The last two meals i've had have been exactly what i envisioned when i ordered them. However, the pies are served with either mash, chips, or greens. I chose chips. Unfortunately a pie with chips and no portion of greens clearly looks like an incomplete meal, and considering my girlfriend had a MASSIVE half a roast chicken with all the trimmings for a very similar price, it seems odd that the chef hasn't looked at the dish and noticed also that a pie and chips alone is one portion of greens short of a complete meal.
That said, this place is definitely worth going to. We have been twice recently and we will be going again soon.03/03/2013 00:00:00Good vibesWent here for a friends birthday, the place was nice and comply. Staff was polite and friendly.27/11/2012 00:00:00
