The Swan at The GlobeVery nice foodMy husband and I really loved the pre theatre menu proposed. Very good food, friendly staff, nice location, beautiful decoration. I was a bit disappointed that the we did not get the window table I requested at time of booking. But the overall experience was very good, we would surely come back.18/05/2013 00:00:00Great restaurant for a date!I took my date for dinner here, and we both loved it! Really nice view of the Thames and St Pauls. Very romantic13/05/2013 00:00:00Anniversary mealWe got married at the Globe & returned on our anniversary to celebrate. Slightly biased, but beautiful location (had requested a window seat but was not allocated one so asked to move when we arrived & this was accommodated). Fantastic food, good service in an unpretentious yet prestigious setting. No special touches for our anniversary but we were happy in our own little, World and did not feel rushed or ignored. I would wholeheartedly recommend Swan @ The Globe for delicious food in an historic setting with great ambience and fantastic views.12/05/2013 00:00:00excellent mealWow! We've eaten at some very nice places and the Swan is right up there. Excellent Sunday Roast -- try the cocktails as well. Went before a show at the Globe, the perfect beginning to a wonderful evening!12/05/2013 00:00:00Beautiful LunchI have been a member of the Globe theatre for over 10 yrs. Every year I take clients to a couple of plays during the summer season. Usually we have lunch before the show at the Swan. I booked the table and I knew we were going to have a tight time because my client could not arrive before 1pm. On the day of the play, the restaurant called to make sure I was coming and asked if we were going to the show. I showed up at 12:45 just incase my client arrived early. At that point, the waiter said we could not have the 3 course meal because we did not have the time. First of all, we really do three courses and we had 45mns to eat a main. If they told me when they called about the timing, we could arrive earlier, pre ordered our meal or something.10/05/2013 00:00:00The Swan at the GlobeFantastic restaurant in a fantastic location! Bit suprised it wasn't busier on a Thursday evening but a lovely meal none the less. Worth getting a window table to enjoy the views across the Thames.09/05/2013 00:00:00Great views, food and service,Great views, food and service, but not pretentious.01/05/2013 00:00:00Vue magnifique et dîner délicieuxVue magnifique et dîner délicieux avant le théâtre. Organisation impeccable, accueil sympathique et service chaleureux et efficace. We'll be back as soon as possible!30/04/2013 00:00:00The Big 40It was a special night out with three of this group of six friends turning 40. What better way to kick into the next decade than with a complimentary glass of bubbly looking at a breath taking view of Saint Pauls whilst the sun went down? The atmosphere was fantastic, intimate, yet somehow buzzing. Everyone was having a great time, but tables were well spaced and it made the overall experience perfect. The food was delicious, and the service - spot on. It wasn't stuffy like many river view restaurants and I will definitely be going back. The lamb was melt in the mouth and the blueberry short crust dessert sublime, well worth a stray from usual tempting chocolate puddings. Although, a spoonful of my friend's was heavenly.27/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent in every wayWe have eaten here three times now and it has always been excellent. We have only had the pre-theatre menu, so can only comment on that. The food is excellent and very good value, the staff are delightful and highly professional, and the place itself is lovely - light and bright with great views over the river. Highly recommended. The bar downstairs is also nice, but for us rather noisy.26/04/2013 00:00:00A pleasant sunny eveningYou can't beat this location on the river for evry good food and outsatnding views across to St Paul's. The views really come into their own as the sun sets and the lights of the City turn on. Arrived for a 6:30 rtable booking and was restricted to ordering from the Pre-theatre dinner menu. What that lacked in choice though, was made up for by the excellence of the food itself and the the value the menu provided. Will definitely be returning23/04/2013 00:00:00Adds to the Globe experienceThis was my second time dining at the Swan before a Globe performance. I enjoy the food and the setting. We had a serving snafu this time, but the manager made it right. I will be back.23/04/2013 00:00:00Great food, great value & viewThe fixed menu was outstanding. It included delicious leak & potato soup, an array of apetizers, varied and plentiful, and a choice between 3 entrees. We picked salmon, and pork and apple. Both were delicious. We had a choice of many desserts. Take the chocolate one if you want a caffein kick, or any other one that hits your fancy. Service efficient and polite. View of the Thames river outstanding. When you take the elevator to the main level you are at the Globe Theater! What a great meal!23/04/2013 00:00:00Swan at the GlobeI went to the Swan for a Saturday lunch with my old school friends. We wanted good food and space to have a good chat and that's exactly what we got. The food was delicious, if a little short on vegitarian options. Service was attentive, but not overly so. We were given plenty of time to linger over our lunch. Perfect!20/04/2013 00:00:00Special birthday treatTook my partner to Swan at the Globe for a special birthday celebration - had asked for good view and sure enough we had a brilliant round table in a bay area overlooking river, great views of London.
Waiter was excellent, friendly and efficient without being intrusive - food was tasty and filling with delicious wines. A little pricy (although as Globe members we got discount) but for London a most amazing venue for that special occasion. Highly recommended.19/04/2013 00:00:00Very goodFab food, fab service but most of all is the view - being right by the Thames and in such a vibrant area is amazing.12/04/2013 00:00:00Great food, service and ambienceWent with family on Sunday. Lovely lunch off the set menu. Delicious scallops, a good portion of salmon, lovely pink roast beef. Service was on the ball, there when you needed anything but good breaks between courses which meant it was chilled and relaxing. Good views over the Thames07/04/2013 00:00:00Super spot with fab serviceSuperb location overlooking river. Menu limited as was Sunday lunch with only 3 roasts, fish and a veggie option. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was good and reasonably priced.07/04/2013 00:00:00Exquisite food and view of London! We sat on a table overlooking the Thames opposite st Paul's and the lights of the bridge shimmering on the water- totally magical!
I had delicious pork belly which was delicious but small. Not a place to go if you are ravenous! This means you can easily put away 3 courses and not feel stuffed :).
A place to impress people with lovley views and relaxed atmosphere of London.29/03/2013 00:00:00What a lovely experienceThe Swan at the Globe provided a great atmosphere, really freindly service and delicious food - all in all a great night out.28/03/2013 00:00:00Business lunchGreat food and service - lovely views of the Thames28/03/2013 00:00:00Thameside gemA buzzy venue with great views over to St Pauls and the City of London. Sunday lunch always a treat but any mealtime works. Well worth a detour away from better know venues in Borough Market.24/03/2013 00:00:00Sunday Lunch with friendsWe enjoyed a long, lazy Sunday lunch with friends, the service and food was excellent. We'll definitely go back soon.17/03/2013 00:00:00Very niceYes, very nice place, all worked well and had a great time. Enjoyed the food and wine, sampled each of the different rooms. Good.15/03/2013 00:00:00ExcellentGreat food, lovely atmosphere and an excellent location.13/03/2013 00:00:00Loved it!We came here for Mother's Day and my mum left feeling very touched and special. The table we has provided fantastic views of St Paul's and the surrounding area, my mum was given a free glass of champagne and the food was delicious! At the upper end of the price ladder but I think that was down to a lot of very good wine! Thoroughly enjoy it!10/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely food, lovely service,Lovely food, lovely service, lovely evening. Looking forward to returning07/03/2013 00:00:00Good Food with a River ViewWe had lunch at the Swan with a very nice table in the restaurant upstairs with views of the Thames. The set menu is good value and the food excellent. Service was pleasant and helpful and the ambience was relaxed.07/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely views and foodSuper meal to celebrate daughter's birthday. Great views over towards St Paul's. Choice of three menus to suit all tatses and requirments. Fixed price 'chef's menu', brunch and a la carte menu were given though it may be inmportant to tell waiting staff which one you are choosing from. Food was excellent. Only diasppointment was that you could not choose from the English tapas menu that they had in the bar downstairs. Some of those would have made great starters. Other really good thing is that they were not rushing you between courses or to leave at the end02/03/2013 00:00:00Brunch with river viewsWe had a lovely time on our recent visit to the Swan. We had a table in the upstairs restaurant and were lucky enough to be seated by the window as requested - great views so worth it if you can get a table here. The service was great, the menu diverse and we didn't feel too crowded in with other dinners. The brunch was great, eggs florentine, and the bloody Mary's looked amazing!23/02/2013 00:00:00Great place for a special dinnerNever disappointed when I go for a meal at The Swan at The Globe21/02/2013 00:00:00Swan at The GlobeExcellent! Very good value delicious set course menu with stunning views of St. Paul's and The Thames. Will definitely go back.21/02/2013 00:00:00ExcellentSecond time breakfasted here, surprisingly empty considering the wonderful location and generous breakfast. The staff almost seem surprised when guests arrive but are extremely friendly and responsive. A real find.18/02/2013 00:00:00Wonderful spot for Sunday dinnerBooked for late Sunday lunch 5pm and thought it would be packed but surprisingly it was empty by the time we had finished, this hasn't been our experience in the past. Sunday dinner was good though although if you order the beef it comes really rare! However it was no problem when two of us asked for it to be cooked a little more.
The best thing about this restaurant for me is the beautiful view of St.Pauls. We requested a window table and we were Given one, perfect.17/02/2013 00:00:00Great for Sunday lunchWe went here last Sunday and had delicious roast chicken (one of our party had equally delicious roast beef) and very good wine with lovely views of the Thames. Highly recommended, but avoid if you are looking for a leisurely Sunday meal as we were ousted after 1.5 hours!10/02/2013 00:00:00Food not amazing but still love itThe swan is great for location and ambience while still well priced. I was disappointed in the food this time round but would still go again and recommend it to others. I think it's a great place to take overseas visitors for an iconic location09/02/2013 00:00:00Husbands BirthdayAfter a busy day of 'man' persuits, we went to the Swan for my husbands birthday and it was absolutely lovely. Great atmosphere, delicious food and loads of it, attentive but relaxed staff and great views. We are 29 and live in Clapham and it didn't feel 'touristy', old or feminine. I had traditional tea and husband had gents tea with a huge fish finger sandwich (full fish!) a mini macaroni cheese, ginger bread and Stilton, sausages in honey and mustard and a brownie! We enjoyed some champagne which made it an occasion and then went to the Oxo for cocktails an met friends at Sophie's-perfect birthday weekend and highly recommend.09/02/2013 00:00:00I regularly eat at the SwanI regularly eat at the Swan for work events and have always been impressed. I had friends visiting london so I wanted to take them for a relaxed lunch with good food. My only negative comment is that we were not told on arrival that we only had the table for a certain ammount of time, the waiter asked if we could leave the table and pay downstairs. Apart from this everything else was to usual high standards.09/02/2013 00:00:00Still deliveringFriday lunch-time - excellent ambience and the usual good servcie and food.08/02/2013 00:00:00A lovely eveningWe had a "catch up" with a relative passing through London from Australia - the first chance for her to meet my fiancee and my sister's boyfriend. It was a lovely evening with attentive rather than over-bearing service and excellent food. The location is great and the view across the Thames makes it one of the loveliest restaurants in London to bring friends & family who don't come to the city often.06/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely Sunday lunchNeeded somewhere to meet friends who had to travel south on Sunday afternoon from Waterloo. Have been to Swan before for a special occasion pre theatre but not for Sunday lunch. Everything was exceptionally good. We had roast beef, belly pork and chicken between us and a very nice bottle of wine plus a dessert and 3 coffees. Came to £25 per head. Coupled with lovely ambience and brilliant view of the Thames, I heartily recommend this little gem of a place.03/02/2013 00:00:00Food for thoughtOn arrival, we found the steps up to bar then another set of stairs leading up to the main dining room a little awkward to navigate with a baby in a buggy (despite being assured restaurant was child friendly). Perhaps there was another entrance which we're not aware as this could put off diners with babies or those with physical disabilities. We've always enjoyed eating out & hoped that having a baby in tow wouldn't mean we could only visit fast-food type restaurants. However, once we dismantled the buggy & got to the dining room, everything was fine. The staff gave us a table with extra space to reassembled buggy & enjoy our first meal out as a family. Food was v tasty, staff attentive, overall a friendly & buzzy restaurant. Will go back.26/01/2013 00:00:00Limnisa Lovelies and a guy.I suggested the Swan at the Globe as a meeting place for a reunion. As these reunions only take place two or three times a year, and not having ever been to the Swan, I was a little apprehensive. But I needn't have worried. The warm welcome, wonderful views across the Thames, good food and great service banished any worries I might have had.
My only niggle: I thought the wine, though good, was expensive25/01/2013 16:00:00Amazing food! The food was amazing, amazing taste (we ordered pork and fish) and a good amount of food. The down side was that the restaurant was quite full and the service was a little slow, I could bother someone if he doesn't have all night.24/01/2013 16:00:00Special VenueHaving not been to the Globe before and searching for a special place for Sunday Lunch with the girls, I was thrilled to stumble upon The Swan on a wintery Sunday afternoon.
Ambience was fab and the food outstanding. I would highly recommend it!19/01/2013 16:00:00Lovely staffWonderful food, really lovely staff and the view..amazing. Unfortunately the building noise was a bit loud but that was only temporary. We have been before and will certainly come again17/12/2012 00:00:00Had a great Sunday roast atHad a great Sunday roast at 3pm in the 1st floor restaurant. Think we had best table in the corner and watched the sun go down over St Pauls, right the way around to Canary Wharf. Food was perfect and staff attentive. A great afternoon/evening.15/12/2012 16:00:00Lovely place for lunchReally nice meal and a lovely atmosphere. Only negatives were the lack of vegetarian options (just one dish) and it is a little overpriced. Still, the food was excellent as was the wine.15/12/2012 16:00:00Always ExcellentCan't fault the food, ambience, service or the view. All fabulous.13/09/2012 00:00:00Olympic brunchOn our way to Stratford we stopped at the Swan for brunch with 4 other friends. Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly and we did let him know that we needed to leave to get to the Olympic Park in good time. So we enjoyed our brunch very much and thought the brunch menu was sufficiently varied - and were able to request and pay our bill with enough time to comfortably get to Stratford.29/07/2012 00:00:00
