The Secret Gardenafternoon tea with bubblesWe had a lovely afternoon tea at The Secret Garden. The sandwiches were extremely fresh and delicious. The scones were warmed and tasty served with gorgeous clotted cream and jam and there were several different varieties of cakes that were just too many for us to tuck away so we cheekily asked for a goodie bag and was supplied with a cake box. The staff were very willing to make our afternoon tea as perfect as possible. The weather meant we could not sit outside but we did have a wander around their walled garden which is inspirational. Definitely recommended.28/05/2013 00:00:00Secret garden outstandingFantastic full of flavour food, friendly, excellent location and great products. Highly recommended!26/05/2013 00:00:00A very pleasant open environment,A very pleasant open environment, smart and attentive staff and very good food. What more could one want? Bit disappointed that one of our guests wasn't asked if he wanted his lamb rare or more cooked. The menu said it would be pink but he hadn't realised this and it was served very pink which he didn't enjoy. Being my guest he didn't like to say anything at the time!21/05/2013 00:00:00Out for a special evening mealToptable does not list the correct postcode for the restaurant, so missed the turn, signage could do with improving from the A20 and Car park, gripes over.
Once in the restaurant (first in) we were greeted and served with speed, politeness and efficiency, the interior is pleasant. We ordered bread to keep us going, but no sooner than we ordered the starter it arived, perfect. The main meals have a good choice, (not so good for kids) the food is superb and well presented, but still enough of it to fill you up.
Recommended for a "special" evening meal or small party, I recomend pre-booking.
We intend to try afternoon Tea there soon.26/04/2013 00:00:00Midweek lunchI went to The Secret Garden with a friend for lunch and we had a wonderful dining experience. The venue was wonderful. Lots of space and light, a friendly comfortable atmosphere, the style of crockery was very stylish and the service was great. We wasn't rushed, and we had endless cups of tea. When we asked to take the left over cakes home the staff were happy to help (rather than be frowned upon like you are in some British restaurants). I will definetly be returning31/03/2013 00:00:00Have used this venue on aHave used this venue on a number of occasions and always had a very good meal in every aspect but on this occasion my wife's lamb was very fatty and gristly. Very busy and therefore rather noisy.31/03/2013 00:00:00A Slice of Paradise in KentThe Secret Garden is one of those rare finds - a true gem of a restaurent hidden away behind a beautiful Victorian brick walled cottage garden on an old country estate in Mersham Le Hatch, near Ashford.
The main restaurent is in a fabulously restored old barn. It's cosy, with plenty of warm lighting, comfy seats, an abundance of tables, is light and airy and the food is delicious. All home made. But its the garden outside where the magic happens! In the Summer you can sit on an elegant terrace under a glass awning looking out at the lawns, pathways and flowers - yet all the while enclosed within a secret wall.
I couldn't recommend it highly enough!31/03/2013 00:00:00So happy to have discovered it!I used top table to find somewhere to go with my husband for his birthday, and thought we'd try The Secret Garden as it had good reviews. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It felt like being somewhere wonderful on holiday. We will definitely be returning soon.30/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely Dinner VenueWe went to The Secret Garden to celebrate our daughter's engagement. The service is great, food always excellent and a well stocked wine cellar including some very good local wine. The menu is simple and you always get the urge to return to try another selection.14/02/2013 00:00:00Excellent food & service thisExcellent food & service this restaurant should not be a secret anymore, outstanding food in a beautiful environment well worth a visit, we will be going back again & again.14/02/2013 00:00:00Wonderful lunchMy sister and I took our mother to lunch here and were very pleased with the quality of the food and ethos of the menu, speed of service and general ambiance of the Secret Garden.
It was a beautiful meal (particularly delicious scallops and lamb) in delightful surroundings followed by relaxed coffee on settees a little separate from the diners.
We will certainly be returning.07/02/2013 00:00:00perfect treatWe had an Afternoon tea to celebrate our Mothers 79th birthday. It was the perfect treat. It was a very friendly environment with chatty groups of people making it less formal than some venues. The cakes are baked on the premises and are delicious, served in decent sized portions, not tiny bite-size pieces. It was all served on beautiful chintzy miss-matched china. I would thoroughly recommend it to friends and others.11/01/2013 16:00:00We had a thoroughly enjoyableWe had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch at the secret garden. The food was excellent, the service brilliant, well done and thanks!05/01/2013 16:00:00good food if you're in the arealoved the starters and desserts, I think i just chose my main badly (a bland squash risotto) but my husbands fish main was excellent. its like a slice of london standards in remote kent, so if you're in the area your best choice I'd say. I hear the afternoon tea is excellent too23/10/2012 00:00:00
