The dishes were flavoursome and presented with excellent customer service by the staff. I am not always quite as ready for a meal at this time of day, but the choices on the menu were excellent for an earlier evening meal. I particularly enjoyed the broccoli soup. We ate from the 3-course lunch menu which had four choices for each course, all for £26. The children's menu was excellent with four fine choices for £7.50, fish and chips, chicken and chips, pasta, sausages and mash; it was great to see such a kind attitude towards children here. I marked the food compared to similar value lunches at other restaurants, naturally it's meaty. For main courses we had the breaded pork cutlet and the ricotta and spinach ravioli, both good dishes, but it being the Savoy and the expectations given by the lovely environment and ambience, perhaps a bit ordinary.
For dessert we had the lemon and rosemary Crème brûlée with raspberry sorbet - absolutely superb, specially the sorbet.

Although busy they also accommodated me changing the arrival time twice. The pork chop I had was one of the most tender and juicy chops I had in years! Takes great skill to cook a thick piece of chops and still retain the juices inside. The sauce that came with it complemented the meat very well and tastes great with the mash potatoes too! The in-house sommelier also recommended a good wine to go with the dinner. We are from Dublin so every time we visit London we now visit the savoy grill. On this occasion we brought our twin 6 year old boys. Initially when we sat down we thought we may have made a mistake. The elderly couple next to us before even seeing the behaviour of our children summoned the maitre d over and made it obvious to us he was not happy and wished to be moved. This turned out to be wonderful as we could now relax with this couple gone. As usual the service is second to none, anything that could be done for us was. The wine was superb, and food even better. I'm from the Netherlands and food is always an important part of my trips abroad. Whether it's curry, scones or fancier, I try to take it all in. Last time in London I went to Maze for dinner, this time the Savoy for lunch. Gorgeous food and gorgeous staff. Like I experienced in Maze, the staff knows about food, hospitality and the etiquette, but without a stiff upper lip. So friendly and relaxed.
Also, even though the Savoy Grill is independent from the Savoy hotel, the venue does help for the overall experience. Even a visit to the restrooms was a joy in itself. We had great fun over that.

Secondly we ate in the Savoy Grill which was wonderful. The staff, the food and the ambience shall we say was almost unreal. The Savoy is stunning and the Grill Room is a marvellous foil for the art-deco main reception. The tables are well spaced to retain privacy, but maintain the burble of a buzzy venue. The food is delicious and has a good range of both ingredients and pricing. The wine could be silly with Petrus at £3k a bottle, but similarly has a very affordable selection too. We had the Chateaubriand which at £65 was very reasonably priced and was without doubt one of the best pieces of meat I have eaten. And it is topped off by knowledgeable and attentive staff who are present but not in your face. It's a posh place but never stuffy. I haven't been since it was re-furbished and it was great to see that it still looks like the Savoy - just more modern and fresher. For us this is a treat - we had a starter, main and dessert and a glass of wine £140 for two which I felt was pretty fare considering the venue and quality of the food.
