A word from The Savoy Grill
The Savoy Grill dining room has been restored to its former glory, with original 1920's Art Deco lighting, lustrous wood panelling, mohair velvet coverings and gold leaf lined faux turtle shell-clad walls all reflecting the room's glamorous heritage. Head Chef Andy Cook, has created a menu that is inspired by classic British and French dishes of old and includes the theatre and excitement of table side service for a number of dishes. Situated in an elevated room set behind a glass wall, The Savoy Grill Chef's Table offers up to 8 guests a fascinating view of the kitchen pass and all the action of a theatrical service.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Dinner was superb, very professional and most welcoming service. Then the theatre show….wonderful…..really enjoyed out Savoy experience…."

  • "We were there for a pre-theatre dinner and were not rushed in any way had enjoyed the menu choice and food. we had different things from the menu and i can say that the Salmon terrine and duck were excellent and the profiteroles with tonka bean sauce were excellent. We choose a reasonable rose wine which went superbly with our dinner and walked out with a smile across to the theatre."

  • "On our arrival we were warmly greeted and the service continued to be excellent throughout. The food was of a superb standard, both of us had the beef wellington for our main course and it was divine. The meal was a treat for my partner and although expensive, it was a wonderful experience and one I would recommend to friends. "

  • "Amazing meal for my boyfriends 30 birthday staff were lovely even had a happy birthday cupcake made for him. Definitely recommend to friends and family can't wait to go back! "

  • "We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the American Bar and they accommodated six without reservation. We then went through to the Grill. Lovely food, most of our party had a super Beef Wellington, cooked to taste. Service was attentive as you would expect in a top tier restaurant, without being intrusive. A reasonable wine list and we took a fairly good value Rhone. Would recommend and plan to return in due course"

  • "We looked forward to experiencing the Savoy Grill but left very underwhelmed. Service was very disjointed and initially a little rude. Food was good if you rate it against your average bistro but not up to expectation for the Savoy. Clearly Ramsey needs to be there more often and get the front of house in order as well. "

  • "We really enjoyed our meal at The a Savoy Grill, the food was excellent and the service attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant and will return again."

  • "I booked the Savoy Grill as a last minute option but I'm so glad I did. The food was outstanding and it was refreshing to have a vegetarian menu, which meant I had as much choice as the other two diners. The wine was excellent and very reasonably priced and the sommelier was both knowledgeable and helpful. The staff even provided a special birthday dessert without it being requested which was the perfect finishing touch! Very highly recommended! We'll be back soon."

  • "First rate experience from the moment we arrived to our departure. Food excellent, service spot on, not intrusive, but always available when required. Staff courteous and attentive. Part of our wedding anniversary day experience, one to remember. Will certainly be returning in the near future. "

  • "perfect in every way excellent food all fresh well presented staff friendly but not overpowering excellent service "

  • "We had the Pre Theatre Menu, which was very good and well presented. What let the meal down was the slow service. The waiting staff were aware we had to be out of the restaurant by 7.15pm and we did not get our main course until 7pm so we did not have time for the dessert course. We arrived at 6pm so there should have been time for the three courses. The continuous aggressive upselling got too much and nearly spoilt the meal. If we had had more efficient service we would have been able to have the three courses."

  • "I took my friends to dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food was divine, the service impeccable and attentive and the waiter's knowledge of wine was very impressive. Would definitely recommend the porterhouse steak and will go back in the future. To top it all a very discreet birthday candle was brought out which topped a wonderful evening. Thank you. "

  • "The food was well-presented, good quality (without being brilliant), and interesting. The sommelier was helpful, and the wine reasonably priced. The service was friendly, efficient and warm; we were made to feel welcome and special. The ambience was excellent for a Special occasion that we wanted to feel relaxed."

  • "I took my husband here for a Monday lunch on his birthday. Never an easy thing to do as he is extremely discerning, gets troubled by production values (if they're not right) and he loves the food if he feels it's good value. He enjoys researching a new experience, cross referencing from various websites, reading countless reviews and weighing them all up. I do none of this. Suffice to say, he was mighty impressed by my choice and he couldn't find anything to fault it. It feels like stepping back into the Savoy of the early days (not that I ever went) and is a great place to take someone to impress them. It worked for me. Oh, and the food is pretty good too !"

  • "After a fantastic afternoon show the Savoy Grill gave us a perfect end to a perfect day."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "We asked to order outside the fixed menu and the Chef made us a six meal secret course and the sommelier prepared a magic combonation of wines to suit the food. Fantastic food, wine, atmosphere and staff! Perfect evening out! :)"
    dined on 15/04/2014
  • "Great food and lovely ambience. Drink is expensive, as you would expect. Service is friendly but a little frantic and I don't think they are completely tuned in to pre theatre, so we had to cancel coffee to get out in time."

  • "The famous Savoy! Finally, we stepped inside the Savoy and give it a try. 1st impression is great, service is great. The room itself is a bit too dark for my taste, but I supposed it's great for candle light romantic dinner. Took their offer menu and found the food too salty. However, that's just me. I prefer lightly flavour food which I believe express the taste in the high quality produce better. It is the Savoy hotel and I would say no matter what other people say about the place, you will just have to experience it yourself. Good or bad, you've been there, done that. rIght? Enjoy."

  • "The meny was good structured and the service was outstanding. Loved the dishes, especially the desserts. Could of been a little bit more béarnaise with some more taste of estragon. Apart from that everything was excellent, and we was given well with time to eat and finish every dishes."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "The opulence of the surroundings and the superb service meant that our dining experience was exceptional. I will return here again. The prices were not cheap but this still felt Like cake for money. If you want to go somewhere to feel special then this is the place!"

  • "Stunning restaurant, stunning food, attentive service, very 'posh'.! Wonderful place for a special occasion. Set lunch excellent value for money. Will definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending it to other diners."

  • "The food was lovely. Good choice. Service was good and the waitress was helpful. Savoy is a lovely hotel to have a restaurant. For me, I thought it was expensive."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "I went to the Savoy Grill with my girlfriend, as we were bought a voucher. This was dealt with on arrival and avoided the awkward 'voucher discussion' during the meal / once the bill arrived! The service was excellent throughout, and, despite our dining time of 9pm, we did not feel rushed. Both starters were excellent - I recommend the snails - and the chateaubriand main was very good. Dessert was very tasty but not particularly unique, and the wine was good (some affordable options included). Nice atmosphere / background noise meant that we felt quite private despite being in an open restaurant. Overall a very good experience for a special occasion with great food - perhaps a little pricey and hence I have marked value down slightly."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "The staff were helpful , friendly and efficient so we enjoyed our dinner in the Grill , but thought the food was expensive for what it was. Have had more memorable meals elsewhere for half the price. Tables have a time limit depending on booking time . The menu cards looked scruffy and could be designed to look much more attractive."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "There really has a great selection of food on the menu and the service is second to none, !"
    dined on 08/04/2014
  • "Obviously the Savoy is the star being beautiful and so well furnished. Food could have been hotter and slightly more of it. The wines are over priced. However, the service is second to none with very pleasant and efficient staff. The dining room was rather cold and needed to be at least few degrees warmer for comfort. The cocktails in the American Bar were fine but I had to ask a rather sulky waitress to brush up unsightly biscuit crumbs from my seat, she should not have had to be asked in such an establishment and should be better trained. The cocktail waiter offered us olives with anchovies and when we said we only like plain olives he did not offer to replace them and had to be asked to do so, not the best from such a pricey place."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Slightly disappointing as we are big fans of Ramsay restaurants - we have dined many times at Claridge's (which was excellent in every way), also Petrus and recently Bread St. I had expected The Savoy to be on a par with Claridge's, but it didn't quite make it with food or service. Staff to quick to want to hurry through the courses, not really allowing a gap so you could enjoy the experience, even though we were not on a pre threatre menu! hence main course came up alittle tired as it had been held back under warming lights I expect as we had asked for a gap between starter and main."

  • "Took my mum here for a birthday lunch, made us feel very welcome and looked after, food excellent, would definitely go back."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "Overall it was a very good experience. We found the pre-theatre meal pretty limited and two of the party ended up ordering from the A La Carte which, of course, increased the overall cost considerably. However, we had a very attentive and charming italian waiter who also had a great sense of humour which we enjoyed. I would go back."
    dined on 09/04/2014
  • "It is advertised as pre-theatre restaurant. On arrival (when doors opened), we advised the booking desk what time we had to leave and a note was taken. After 3/4hr we asked for our food and again reminded them of the time we had to leave. In the end had to cut and run with no time for dessert or coffee. When asked on departure our thoughts, were told 'have no control over what kitchen does'! Not what we wanted to hear. After telling the waitress we were having the pre-theatre menu, she became totally disinterested, she took our order and was never seen by us again. The staff who took over from her were very good and the food we did have was excellent. We would not advise using this restaurant as a pre-theatre venue. Very disappointing."

  • "The Savoy Grill had an excellent menu, perfect for an afternoon lunch. Their wine selection was ideal and the service was friendly and impeccable. We were there for a special occasion and this was fully acknowledged by the staff, who made special efforts to provide a more bespoke experience for the celebrant. My only complaint would be that there was not very clear communication regarding the TopTable offer, so that I was over-charged by a fair amount, due to some of the drinks that were allegedly included in the offer treated as separate charged items. That was the only disappointing aspect of my experience."

  • "Can't say any more. Such a shame as it was always my favourite restaurant..."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "The a la carte menu did not list a vegetarian option. The pre-theatre menu listed pea soup starter and a vegetable ravioli main giving us no other veggie choice. The food was well served, it was hot and flavoursome, however the ravioli was served swimming in butter making it too rich for our personal taste. The décor was tasteful and gave the impression you were eating in a gourmet restaurant. We regularly visit London theatre and are surprised that the many good value restaurants available do not adequately supply a choice of vegetarian food."

  • "The Savoy Grill was good. However, for the price, it should have been a spectacular, unforgettable meal. It wasn't."
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "I room my partner here for a birthday treat. The food and service were outstanding, however, the tables were a little small for 2 and with not much space between - this resulted in my partner spilling a glass of red wine over me when they got up and sent to the toilet! Not great progach for a romantic meal for 2 :("

  • "We were given a Xmas gift from my daughter to experience the Sunday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The food was excellent and despite being very busy ,the service was excellent."

  • "We decided to take my mother in law for her 70th Birthday for dinning at the Savoy, as she watches a lot Ramsay's shows we thought it was a good idea, thinking that their food will be top quality ‘as shown on TV’. When making the reservation, I specifically mentioned in the added note to have a small cake with her name on it with a candle, so once the dessert come, we could surprise her. This was not done. Additionally the waiter made us feel uncomfortable by trying to upsell in the manner he did. Overall considering this is meant to be a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and at the Savoy, we were expecting better service and food. Comparing it with other similar restaurants in the area you would get better food and better service for cheaper."

  • "Birthday celebration for 4 Belles. L' Escoffier menu was excellent - £38 + VAT. The service was exemplary, good advice on food and wine. Arnold Bennet omelette, scallops, beef pudding and flambé strawberry all delicious. The daily roast of suckling pig also looked great. Good wine list which included many reasonably priced wines. A lovely birthday plate with a happy birthday piped in chocolate and chocolate topped muffin was a nice touch. A great lunch. Will return."
