The Riding House CafeStill Londons no1The food is good - but as I come here so often now I wouldnt mind some additionals! Apart from that the atmosphere is great and the service is second to none!17/05/2013 00:00:00Six of us had a lovely mealSix of us had a lovely meal - great, friendly service and the food was delicious as always. Such a great place to get the buzz of London, but good down to earth food.17/05/2013 00:00:00Very impressedMy first visit to the Riding House Cafe and probably not the last! Service was great and friendly. Food all lovely and non alcoholic cocktails were fab. The small plates were lovely and 3 filled me up nicely!14/05/2013 00:00:00As soon as I walked in I wasAs soon as I walked in I was greeted with a big smile, all the ladies that served us were happy and made sure we were looked after. The food was lovely, would recommend to try out this cafe.11/05/2013 00:00:00Delicious and highly recommendedI've been wanting to check out Riding House Cafe for a while now and am very glad I managed to do so this weekend. The food was delicious and the place was very lively. I'd be back again soon for sure!11/05/2013 00:00:00The smoothies are amazingThe smoothies are amazing and I love that you can get a half order of eggs benedict! That means you can have something yummy and (combined with a smoothie) filling, but not quite as sinful :)11/05/2013 00:00:00One of the best breakfasts in TownEscape the high streets in London and do yourself and your stomach a favor! This restaurant just off the main streets serves some of the best breakfast I have had in London. Eggs Benedict, side of beans and one of their refreshing smoothies/juices and you're set for the day! Definitely reserve, as this place is always full. Great, friendly, quick service, fantastic interior and good value for money! Will be coming back on every trip to London!10/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely surpriseDon't be put off by the word Cafe in the name - this is a really lovely restaurant, with a fab atmosphere, great decor and - crucially - fantastic food. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a different, relaxed and not over priced place to eat in central London.10/05/2013 00:00:00Great food Great AtmosphereHad a fabulous meal experience here....even on a Wednesday night the place was buzzing!
The food was delicious- really unusual menu.
Dessert out of this world!
Staff attentive but not overwhelmingly so....
Can't wait to go back!08/05/2013 00:00:00ScrumptousHas a fab brunch at The Riding Cafe, great choice, portions good, efficient service and free wifi. Loved the vibe of the place and will definitely book to eat there again when in London. Comfy retro style couches gives this pace a really cosy feel. Staff were really attentive, nothing negative to say.07/05/2013 00:00:00breakfastAll round a great choice and everything was top notch , fruit platter , eggs benedict and full breakfast was had between my wife and I, the service was very good and attentive with no waiting , the atmosphere in the bar room was very pleasant with space to enjoy your breakfast and not stuffy at all.I will visit again without fail04/05/2013 00:00:00Stop reading and GOWe labeled the Riding House Cafe a Sunday lunch stop, and having been for this reason 3 or 4 times had been quite satisfied with our find. It was when we took some guests for dinner that we went over the top and decided to make this one of our repeat favourites.
Our table of 4 for dinner had the lobster lasagne (x2!) a few small plates including pork belly and the goat curd with honey, and then the beef and bone marrow burger. Oh my God. We don't usually gush about food unless it is inventive and carries that price tag, with michelin stars, or similar. But RHC was bang on with its food that impressed for the price.04/05/2013 00:00:00Never fails to disappointHave been here two or three times now, and I think I will make my visits more routine. I went for an early pre-work breakfast with a colleague and it was lovely to be there early enough to have a quiet chat. We were seated in the annex-like part to the left of the entrance which is personally my favourite as its slightly more secluded and gets more light. Food was great - small gripe was that my friend's pancakes were a little sweet for her, but other than that, perfect.30/04/2013 00:00:00Great placeI love the riding house cafe. It is great for brunch, lunch and dinner. Service is very good and the menu is great. Perfect for business or pleasure.23/04/2013 00:00:00Had a lovely breakfast. ExcellentHad a lovely breakfast. Excellent service and very good coffee!22/04/2013 00:00:00evening dinnerWe went there for dinner on Sat night to celebrate a birthday. The coctails were very good and the waiter gave good advice. Food was also very good - especially the starters.20/04/2013 00:00:00What a gem!!Visited Riding House Cafe due to such raving reviews and boy were they justified. Great place with lots of areas to wine & dine. We chose the relaxed orange seating area and loved the quietness. The food was SO good it wouldn't have mattered what we ordered. In the end we loved (a) the ability of the chef to adapt the chopped salad to include variety of salad items to my preference (so good I ordered twice!) (b) the chorizo hash & (c) the burger. The prosecco was a lovely find as well. Marie was awesome (as well as managment) we couldn't find fault. Evenwhen we were given a dish completely unrelated to the menu ingredients they had 'nothing is a problem' attitude in replacing. A breath of fresh air and a must to return to.20/04/2013 00:00:00Very friendly and relaxedVery friendly and relaxed environment, we weren't rushed and our food was wonderful.15/04/2013 00:00:00Great Brunch VenueThis is a fantastic place to grab a late breakfast in a brasserie which combines a lovely relaxed ambience with good service. There is a wide selection of options for brunch which should keep all palates satisfied. It is ideal for those seeking to catch up with friends over an excellent meal.08/04/2013 00:00:00Loved the Riding House cafeLoved the Riding House cafe - great atmosphere. Will be back!31/03/2013 00:00:00Perfect for a lazy brunchWe went here for brunch on a Saturday morning.
The atmosphere was brilliant - buzzy but not chaotic and it had a fresh, cool vibe to it.
The food was delicious - I would highly recommend the pancakes!30/03/2013 00:00:00Friday night dinner for twoMy husband and I went on a Friday night with a reservation. Our table was ready on time. We ordered the scallops and artichoke dip from from the start menu. Both were very small portions but all only 5GBP. For dinner we had the Salmon and the gnocchi. Everything was great. Our only compliant was that there were out of 3 items we tried to order...strange for a Friday night don't you think?29/03/2013 00:00:00Superb!This is one of my most favourite restaurants in London! The food is second to none, the service is very professional yet friendly and the atmosphere is alive! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! Youll miss out if you dont go!25/03/2013 00:00:00gallop to this trendy cafeI brought yet another friend to this favourite haunt and was not disappointed. This time the menu had changed and although I missed my chick peas cakes, was more than compensated with delicious beetroot fritters with ricotta. My friend loved her salmon with asparagus. Her gingerbread with fig ice cream dessert just had the edge on my rhubarb crumble, with both ice cream and custard, but it was a close run thing. I'm running out of friends to introduce to The Riding House cafe, but am happy to take them all back, one by one, and they won't be complaining either!23/03/2013 00:00:00Interesting and Tasty`I have been to The Riding House before for a company dinner where we used the private function room downstairs and it was amazing! Best ambiance and very interesting/quirky venue for a fun business meal. My most recent visit was for a 2-person business lunch. It was a bit noisy and crowded in the main restaurant but this is part of the experience. The waitress was a bit snooty when I mentioned that the two-seat table she offered me was a bit crowded and just walked off with no comment. At least she could have said" that's part of our unique ambiance" or something - with a smile!! The food was nice, interesting menu and enough to fill up but perhaps a little small for the money. I would go back because I like places that are different.22/03/2013 00:00:00MenuReally like The Riding House Cafe but the only thing that stops me going more often is that the menu does not change.20/03/2013 00:00:00Still Londons No1 BreakfastAmazing food, well cooked and great service - you should start every morning like this!20/03/2013 00:00:00A wonderful eatery for a wholeA wonderful eatery for a whole spectrum of reasons.
Shame toptable has really deteriorated.19/03/2013 00:00:00Sunday LunchFriendly staff - check
Table ready- check
Good food - roast chicken for two is an excellent idea and very tasty!
Wine - possible to get decent stuff in a 500ml carafe.
Place had a good atmosphere - busy happy place17/03/2013 00:00:00Perfect cafe in central LondonThe Riding House Cafe is a huge favourite of mine and I love to take visiting friends and family there for a lazy Sunday brunch. The food is great, the brunch cocktails even better and the ambience of the place is fantastic. Totally laid back and friendly. Perfect antidote to a grey London morning.17/03/2013 00:00:00Great atmosphere on a wet SundayWe had a table for two for mid-afternoon on Sunday. Because of transport problems, I needed to push the time which was no problem at all. All the staff that we came into contact with were great - not pushy, aloof or in your face. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious - I had a vegetarian beetroot thing and the man had steak. (A bit miffed that chips were charged extra as the steak comes with nothing except a grilled tomato.) We were made to feel very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed quaffing a second bottle of pinot noir while looking at the gloomy day outside. I will definitely return although I will have to save up first - we managed to spend quite a bit on the booze! All great and one of my new favourites. Thank you!17/03/2013 00:00:00This was my second visit toThis was my second visit to the RHC, and although the steak tartar small bite is now off the menu (very sad, it was delicious), my friend and I had a great night. We each had a small bite and then a main. I also had the hot cinnamon donut dessert which was ridiculously good. My friend had an alcoholic milkshake/cocktail for dessert which was also nice. Service was very good as usual. Had a great table. Would recommend and will be back!14/03/2013 00:00:00Girlfriends dinnerI took a girlfriend to dinner here who was in town on business from San Francisco. She is quite a foodie and was very impressed with the quality and presentation. We ordered 3 small plates (goats cheese, scallops and lamb) along with the bread and some wine. Feeling a bit hungry still we chose the gingerbread dessert to fill up our bellies. This dessert was outstanding and we were both visibly upset when it was finished.
I have also been here for brunch and was equally as pleased. So far the experience has been consistent and leves me wanting to come back and share with more friends.11/03/2013 00:00:00brunch at the riding house cafeFour of us visited the Riding House Cafe for brunch, and we were glad we booked because it was very busy. We ordered drinks and food at the same time, but the food did arrive before our drinks, which was a bit strange. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks though, and was impressed by the portion sizes! I had the chorizio hashbrown, with a berry smoothy. Very tasty. Would definately go again!09/03/2013 00:00:00Good food and wine list atGood food and wine list at very reasonable prices. A solid bistro with a busy atmosphere.06/03/2013 00:00:00Great placeI'm a big fan on RHC, the service is always fantastic and the food is delicious.02/03/2013 00:00:00consistently good experiences hereSecond time to the Riding House this time for lunch. I was late - which I usually am, so no surprises there. Nonetheless the staff were pleasant, did not obviously hurry us, and when we wanted to continue and have a coffee and desert after we'd vacated our seats, they were very accommodating and allowed us to sit at the end of the large table where the cashier/maitre'd was stationed.
So a great place to come on a weekend and relax, or for breakfast. I do wish they would increase the dining time to 2 hours or generally be a little more flexible...02/03/2013 00:00:00Best quick smart lunch near Ox CircI've been here several times for when needed a smart but fun venue for a weekday lunch or breakfast, it's perfect for that. Great design and buzz, good menu and very good food especially the small plates.27/02/2013 00:00:00good valuealways assured of a high quality meal here. The sea food is always a winner26/02/2013 00:00:00A Lovely Sunday MorningI decided to try the Riding House Cafe on a whim and loved it. The ambience is great. It is buzzy but not too noisy. The food was fresh, simple and tasty. My daughters had second helpings of sausages. The bread is of good quality and the service is not intrusive. We loved the smoothies too. In short, we will go back and I highly recommend it.24/02/2013 00:00:00very goodPros: Great atmosphere and interior design - from the comfy alcoves to the more formal bar stools. Bathrooms were again well designed and spotless. Service was friendly and not overpowering.
Cons: Being hurried out at 11.30am. Seems bookings are taken for 1.5 hours and we had booked for 10.00am. Surprisingly the place was never full but that's not to say that they didn't have a full lunchtime period planned I guess. Also the food was nice but sometimes (not all) bit on the bland side which was a slight disappointment given the descriptions in the menu. The pancakes were awesome however.
On the whole I would recommend the riding house and would definitely return, now I know what to expect especially regarding time allocated to diners.23/02/2013 00:00:00family lunch successWe booked a table for four for lunch;our party then grew to 6 and the staff had no problem adapting to our additional request. Two of the party were late and the restaurant was totally adaptable. Food excellent and it was perfect for a late lunch experience. Definitely come again!23/02/2013 00:00:00Nice friendly atmosphere.Nice friendly atmosphere. Love the decor. Great service. Happy diners.23/02/2013 00:00:00Fantastic food! This place always excels itself - I visit London about 6 - 10 times a year and always book a table here, the atmosphere is amazing, the staff very efficient and friendly and the food is yummy, I always leave thinking that they'd be hard to beat that menu - and return thinking 'I'm spoilt for choice again'. Its not just the waiters that work hard, you can tell the managers, chef and wine waiters care about the customer. They've got it right, long may it continue.23/02/2013 00:00:00A really pleasant dining experienceA really pleasant dining experience. The sharing menu is great because the portions are just the right size, and there's enough on the menu to keep it interesting if you don't feel like ordering a standard main course. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Good value for money, and a great place to spend an evening.22/02/2013 00:00:00Always excellentHave dined here a handful of times now. Never fails to hit the mark, one of my favourite and most reliable restaurants in London. Great food, great service, buzzy vibe, they allow both restaurant bookings and walk-ins (I wish more London restaurants would take heed of this last point in particular!), and even their chateaubriand is one of the better steaks in London, despite it not being a "steak place".22/02/2013 00:00:00Very goodReally enjoyable lunch, very filling broth, good service. Will definitely go back!20/02/2013 00:00:00SuperbMy boyfriend and I both work in hospitality and were amazed by how much we enjoyed everything at The Riding House. Definitely a winner. Will definitely be going back.19/02/2013 00:00:00Good Food, Atmosphere and BarGenerally very pleasant experience - small plates were good if not mind-blowing, but decently priced wine list and good service rounded out a lovely evening. Recommended 4*18/02/2013 00:00:00A great lunch in a buzzy yetA great lunch in a buzzy yet relaxed environment. And a great bloody mary with the addition of celery salt!17/02/2013 00:00:00
