The Prince AlfredThe food and service wereThe food and service were both very good.
The restaurant is a nice size - not too big but not too small. Tables are fairly close to each other but that doesn't bother me. They are happy to accommodate large or small sittings.
I have been several times now and the food has always been good.24/05/2013 00:00:00I really like the restaurant,I really like the restaurant, my only critique would be that it is quite noisy inside if the windows are closed, but the staff is good and quality of the meal was lovely. We did wait a bit to get our meal though.23/04/2013 00:00:00YUM!Fantastic food and service. Will definitely be back!22/02/2013 00:00:00Perfect Sunday LunchI love the Prince Alfred anyway, but my Sunday lunch was the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long time.
The beef was beautifully cooked, and there was plenty of perfectly cooked veg too.
If I was going to be really picky, I would say that the dessert choice wasn't as good as the mains, but that shouldn't put you off going to the prince Alfred for Sunday lunch.17/02/2013 00:00:00A Sunday treatWe really enjoyed our lunch and the service was excellent. Portions were copious.17/02/2013 00:00:00Foodies delightFantastic food and atmosphere, took too long to get service for the pudding though.
Just hurry up so you can get to bed.
(Sorry thought the wifey was dictating but she just wants me to get off this and sleep!)
She liked the good at The Prince Albert too.

We were both very impressed with the restaurant, although a little dissapointed that no effort was made to highlight it was Valentine's night, as there were no decorations or a special valentine's menu. Although we did see a set menu for Mothers Day, perhaps we are not as romantic anymore! The service, food and general atmosphere was excellent and a real treat to be eating exceptional food! We would both like to return again and have already recommended it to friends!14/02/2013 00:00:00ticked all the boxes!Had been a few years ago to the Formosa Dining Room and had an excellent meal then so was interested to see if the food had changed over the years - it did not disappoint!! The steak and chips which 3 of the 6 of us had ordered was fantastic apparently! Food tasty, service very good, lovely ambiance - great evening.. Particularly liked the idea of coffee and a half serving of dessert which helped to overcome the guilt pangs; the sticky toffee pudding, treacle tart and tart tatin were all excellent! Will definitely go again.02/02/2013 00:00:00Great value, good serviceGreat dinner here one bitter cold winter evening. Sweet service, a really good burger and good value on their £25 deal. Recommended.16/01/2013 00:00:00warm and welcomingReturned to Formosa Street as I used to live close by. Not disappointed, cosy and friendly atmosphere, delicious food and one could 'mix and match' a la carte/'specials'. No-one rushed us, really good value, and would definitely return.18/12/2012 16:00:00Where was Christmas? We arrived having booked a Christmas menu and took the family to celebrate. Bizarrely there was no Turkey, so we ended up having the standard set menu which is excellent.08/12/2012 00:00:00Prince Alfred VisitHaving eaten at this restaurant several times the food improves with each visit. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Always, I find excellent tasty English cutting edge food

The meal was delicious, staff attentive, and the ambiance was pleasantly buzzy for a Friday night. I really look forward to going back.13/07/2012 00:00:00Return to Prince AlfredAs a local Gastro pub The Prince Alfred maintains a consistently high standard of food. My pea soup was superb and my fish main course cooked to perfection. The stick toffee pudding was beyond compare! I will be back.19/06/2012 00:00:00We enjoyed our Sunday lunchWe enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Prince Alfred & Formosa Dining Rooms. My husband and I had the rack of lamb for 2 which was delicious. Grandson had the roast beef served in a Yorkshire Pudding. Only complaint was the pea soup that wasn't smooth and was like eating mushy peas. Nice meal and good service.29/04/2012 00:00:00we had superb lunch for 4we had superb lunch for 4 yesterday at this venue. The room is tastefully decorated with dark furniture, sepia photos and flooded wit light through an atrium. Food is well executed, we chose from set menu @ £11 for 2 courses or £15 for 3 this is very good value for money. Service attentive, food impeccable, I was a little let down by the restroom.... I guess basement will need to be refurbish soon !!!30/03/2012 16:00:00Formosa Street Dining RoomFormosa Street Dining Room always comes up trumps!
