The Pearson's Arms by Richard PhillipsLovely mealI attended with my wife due to recommendation and was not disappointed. The food was exceptional and well presented, washed down with lovely ales and wine. Staff were attentive and very courteous. A lovely venue that I shall definitely re visit when next in area.18/05/2013 00:00:00Romantic table for two.We was very pleased with the whole experience of dining at the persons arms by Richard Phillips for the very first time, and would definitely revisit in the future.... I had requested, and received, a window table.
The service was excellent and waitress has a lovely smiling face.
The food, we all chose fish and chips, was beautifully cooked and presented in mesh baskets. Great.04/05/2013 00:00:00Birthday meal!We took my parents here for my mums birthday. It was wonderful!! Can't recommend it enough. The food was fantastic and the menu choices were amazing! We struggled to make our choices!
Overall a great evening in a wonderful setting!04/05/2013 00:00:00The Pearson's ArmsThe Pearson's Arms by Richard Phillips is a delightful restaurant with sea views - ask when booking if you can have a table by the window - and is great value for the standard of food served. One of Whitstable's finest!27/04/2013 00:00:00A lovely restaurant - fabulousA lovely restaurant - fabulous food very well presented - perfect portion sizes - we felt satisfied but not stuffed. I had dressed crab salad and sea bass with pink grapefruit as was intriged by this idea and it was really different and zingy. My partner had smoked duck salad and the lamb which he said was the best he had had.
A definite one to return to.19/04/2013 00:00:00An enjoyable visitWe booked for lunch. Contacted on the day and fore warned that the al la carte menu would not be on offer due to technical problems.
Lunch menu and bar menu were adequate for our needs. Well presented and tasty food, my guests thoroughly enjoyed the fish dish.
Service and communications were very much appreciated.09/04/2013 00:00:00Another great meal at PearsonsWent with friends for Sunday lunch - great food, lovely service, nice setting.31/03/2013 00:00:00Great foodThe food was outstanding, the service was very good. In evenings it can be a bit dark so don't forget your reading glasses but it is very atmospheric and romantic. Service is friendly and food is excellent, can be superb. Enjoy very much, house wine v good, reasonably priced food. Returned the next day for great value lunch!!23/03/2013 00:00:00sunday lunchgood food, good wine, good company, friendly efficient service. a most enjoyable afternoon.17/03/2013 00:00:00Took my wife for a birthdayTook my wife for a birthday lunch. The set menu is really good value, different to your "average", and well presented. It tasted good too!
Location is really nice (almost directly on the beach), and if you get a window table on a nice day, the views are great.
Staff were attentive (maybe because Mr Phillips was there??!!), only gripe - A glass of wine that we ordered took a while to come??14/03/2013 00:00:00Lunch at Pearson's ArmsSix of us and a 5 month old baby had lunch at The Pearson's Arms on Friday 8th March. The food and service were excellent and the set lunch was great value. Highly recommended and will return.08/03/2013 00:00:00Always a WinnerI am a semi regular visitor to The Pearson Arms and am never disappointed. If I was being picky then I would say they sometimes choose style over substance when it comes to plating the food so that - for example - it is impossible to pour cream on a flat dessert plate without it running everywhere but overall it is very good. One thing this time, I took a friend for his 91st birthday and mentioned on the booking form that it was a birthday celebration. We didn't want a cake but some sort of "Happy Birthday" greeting would have been nice and added a more personal touch.07/03/2013 00:00:00food was excellentmenu was interesting with good choices, food was excellent., staff were friendly even during a packed lunch service, even the chefs were approachable through the kitchen window and were keen for feedback. all in all very good. thanks.15/02/2013 00:00:00food for foodiesI have eaten at the persons arms several times - for Sunday lunch and dinner and midweek dinner. This was our first trip at the weekend. I'm thrilled to say that the food was excellent even during busy Saturday service. The bar downstairs was packed and the restaurant upstairs was fully booked. The starters were excellent. The mains were delicious. (But my boyfriend did finish his in about 3 bites and had a bedtime snack) The waiter suggested excellent wine to go with our food and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back.09/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely placeGood food, good service and lovely venue.
Catered well for my friend who requires gluten free food and provided her with a specific menu with lots she could choose from. Minor criticism - the squid starter was very bland/tasteless, but other than that the food was fab.09/02/2013 00:00:00Good food, good valueVery good value, great location good staff. Always willing to go the extra mile27/01/2013 00:00:00Love the Pearson's Arms. GreatLove the Pearson's Arms. Great pub and restaurant. Had dinner with a friend on Saturday night - the service was good and the food was wonderful. Unfortunately we were too stuffed to manage dessert.25/01/2013 16:00:00Best pork everThis was our third or fourth visit to The Pearson's Arms and, despite being busy, we had the best meals of any visit. Half of the party had the Seasonal Winter menu, including mushrooms and duck egg on toast; game terrine with grape chutney. Followed by beer battered cod and braised pork belly with black pudding. The batter was light and airy the crackling was like toffee.
Service was friendly and unrushed (despite knowing we had to vacate the table by 9 pm we were not pressured to hurry) and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. There was a problem with the card reader, but we were informed of this prior to ordering so that the need for cash was not a surprise.
As always, well worth the journey.24/01/2013 16:00:00bazzarWe thoroughly enjoyed a three course meal at the Windmill in Hollingbourne and decided to treat our Australian visitor to a fine meal at the Pearson's Arms. We were very impressed with the food and the friendliness of the staff. We had a lovely time and would recommend both pubs.15/01/2013 16:00:00Charming and deliciousThe Pearson's Arms is a lovely old pub by the sea with delicious food and friendly staff.
