The One BullExcellent diningWe visited the one bull for the first time for an evening meal, the pub was busy and the ambience was lively. We enjoyed a nice drink at the bar and were seated on time. The menu catered for all taste with plenty off options including nibble before the starter, the service was outstanding with our glasses never left empty and the food was of 5 star quality with no wait timing. The head chef and kitchen staff were clearly of the finest in there profession along with all waitresses and bar staff. A must to visit if you are local to Bury St Edmunds and a definately to try if you are visiting the area. Thank you too you all at The One Bull.05/04/2013 00:00:00No bull, this is good ...Our first time at the "new" One Bull and a very good experience - friendly staff greeted and seated us, a straightforward menu packed with tempting options was presented and nothing faltered from there, with the possible exception of not warm pork crackling and ever-so slightly bland apple sauce as nibbles. Main meals were fantastic, expecially the liver, bacon and cottage pie - wow, that works! We were off to the cinema so didn't stay for puddings, hence lack of comment ... the local beer was good though!03/04/2013 00:00:00Love the WhitebaitHad lunch on Sunday, ordered the nibble of whitebait to keep up going at the start. Very, very good. Hot and fresh, nicely served in an espresso cup.
Great idea.31/03/2013 00:00:00Great food!Overall a top class evening. Friendly efficient but not intrusive service.
Outstanding food. Great Ales, lovely wine and chilled atmosphere
Even tho it was a busy Saturday night we were not rushed ,the table was ours
for the evening so could finish our drinks at our leisure. .
Incredibly for a place like that it was not pverpriced so definitely be
Be booking a table there next time we are in Bury.30/03/2013 00:00:00This was the second visitThis was the second visit for lunch in a week, a birthday and then a family lunch. There was a lovely atmosphere, the food and drinks were great as always. We all commented on how nice our lunch had been. The service was friendly but on the second occasion I'm sad to say was extremely slow, both for mains and desserts. It didn't matter so much because we weren't going anywhere but for a normal lunch service it would have been too slow. I had never noticed on previous visits but this time due to how full the restaurant was, the tables are too close together. We had to disturb people both sides of us to get the chairs out to sit down, they had to disturb us when they wanted to leave as well. Just one table too many crammed in maybe?29/03/2013 00:00:00Short visitAfter searching a couple of websites it showed the Onebull at the top of the ratings. It was easy to book online and when we arrived at the restaurant it was "buzzing" with people. A good sign the Onebull is a popular place. We were seated at our table immediately, given the menu and offered drinks. The menu offered a good choice of dishes using many local products and the food was very tasty, the wine we chose was excellent for the price and the complementary water (fizzy and still) was a nice touch. I also appreciated the linen napkins. The only slight problem was the whitebait I ordered from the "while you wait...." Menu. Presumably this should have been for whilst we were waiting for our starter but it arrived with the starter.28/03/2013 00:00:00Very nice place!A lot bigger place than expected but has lovely character. We had Sunday lunch there in the restaurant section but the bar at the front looked very cosy and a nice place to have a glass of wine. Would definitely go there again.17/03/2013 00:00:00Another lovely mealThis was our fourth visit to the OneBull, this time for Sunday lunch. There were four of us plus a tiny baby. The place was busy but certainly not noisy, so the baby didn't wake once. The service was as charming and friendly as usual and the staff go out of the way to make dining there a pleasure. The food was once again excellent - in fact the best food we have eaten out for a very long time. We certainly will go to the OneBull again the next time we're in Bury St Edmunds.17/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely Mothers Day MealNice ambience, lovely roast dinner, great service, a very happy Mother! Would highly recommend for Sunday lunch.10/03/2013 00:00:00Have eaten here now on a fewHave eaten here now on a few occasions, in a group and with a couple of friends.. The food was lovely and the staff are very attentive.08/03/2013 00:00:00The place to take a "foodie" guestThe only very minor comment (not criticism) was that on a Friday evening it was noisy. That did not spoil our visit - the staff are friendly and very helpful and despite being so busy were patient as we took rather a long time choosing our meals - our guest discussed each item on the menu! We have been to The One Bull many times and will continue to treat it as our favourite venue in Bury St Edmunds. They have an excellent wine list at affordable prices and , as always, all our meals were excellent. I was forced to share my queenie scallops as the others thought they looked so good! They tasted even better, and the two steaks and my main fish course couldn't be bettered.08/03/2013 00:00:00Tucked away on a busy streetTucked away on a busy street in the town this place could easily be overlooked (we missed it for years). The staff are friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is pleasantly modern yet maintaining the feel of the old building. I had the feather blade steak done medium rare and it was excellent. One of the most tasty I have ever had and grilled to perfection. The chips are thick-cut and nicely done. We have been here twice and will definitely return.01/03/2013 00:00:00Lunch at The One BullGood pub, excellent staff, great food and beer - worth trying the American Blonde!01/03/2013 00:00:00Nothing was too much troubleSx of us enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch at the One Bull - great choice of food, all cooked perfectly - we loved it. Couldn't fault the service either - nice touch that you get free bottles of still and sparkling water on the table.
We didn't feel rushed even though we sat down at 1pm and didn't leave until 4pm!!! - a great venue for meeting up with friends and family - we'll definitely be back17/02/2013 00:00:00Valentines dinnerMade for a great nights dining and service absolutely faultless will return there again and again. Will be booking again soon to enjoy what is a fantastic night out whether just for drinks or food cooked and served at a standard above all other14/02/2013 00:00:00YUMA lovely meal, very kind waitress, food was delicious!14/02/2013 00:00:00Fabulous !!Would recommend to all. Have been to The Onebull many times, we went with friends and all had a fantastic meal and amongst some very nice people. The duck was incredible!09/02/2013 00:00:00Lovely RestaurantAmazing Food and attentive staff we thoroughly enjoyed our meal every course was heavenly i ordered from the specials menu and had monkfish to start and the fillet of beef with braised red cabbage and a rib risotto and my boyfriend had the white onion soup followed by the horseradish burger and we shared a chocolate and pear tart it was a special occasion as we hadn't been to the one bull since we first met there in April and the evening was just wonderful will definitely be visiting more often!09/02/2013 00:00:00A Great Meal! The quality of food and the quality of staff make The One Bull one of the best dining places in Bury St Edmunds. The food is fresh, well cooked and there is an interesting variety on the menu.
The staff cannot be any more helpful and the atmosphere in the whole restaurant is extremely pleasant.09/02/2013 00:00:00Very nice experienceThe One Bull serves lovely food, well prepared and with a nice choice. The meals are well proportioned and very tasty. The restaurant is very pleasant with a good atmosphere and the sort of place for four friends to eat out at the weekend without too much fuss. The beer (brewed on the premesis) is very good and the service was very friendly and attentive. No complaints and will definitely dine there again.08/02/2013 00:00:00Cinema and DinnerMy wife and I chose the One Bull for an evening meal following seeing Lincoln at the local cinema. The ambiance of this modern town centre pub together with the excellent restaurant area was just what we wanted. The food and service was very good and as usual the young staff were cheerful and efficient. We will be back!24/01/2013 16:00:00Great EveningSecond visit to the one bull and again it was fab! Great food and wine and all staff really good, would recommend anytime!18/01/2013 16:00:00Friends get togetherWe had a great evening, great food, great choice of wines - both very reasonably priced. Had no problems booking for 10 (did book several weeks in advance though).27/12/2012 16:00:00Great Sunday LunchWe booked here because I have used their other pub for sunday lunch and knew that the standard would be the same, but it was better! The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and the beef roast was lovely and pink. So often you go to a pub for sunday lunch and the roast beef is overcooked, tough and grey in colour! this was the opposite.
Well worth a visit for food or just a drink.10/11/2012 16:00:00The one Bull has changed overThe one Bull has changed over the years since we were last out for lunch in Bury and the change has been for the better. I enjoyed grilled plaice and my husband had the fish and chips. They brew there own beer which was pronounced good by my husband. Nice friendly service, very pleasant bar and restaurant area.03/04/2012 00:00:00
