I've visited three times before and again the food was excellent and the service fabulous. Both the bar and and dining room are stunning. Only minor quibble is the bar prices - >£16 for a gin and tonic is more than excessive.

Three courses with a glass of champagne for £35 per person is a bit more than a standard sunday lunch, but this is anything but standard. Beautiful surroundings and explicit food and wine elevate this restaurant into a different league from the norm. I chose a delicate garlic soup, followed by the tenderest beef I've ever tasted. The staff were attentive and friendly and were more then happy to stop what they were doing and take photos of us. The food was beautifully presented and the flavours were lovely. My boyfriend ordered the neck of pork for his main course and unfortunately it was a little on the chewy side, but overall the food was lovely. I really could not fault what I had ordered.
Although the restaurant was busy, the atmosphere was quite peaceful.
We decided to finish our drinks outside on the terrace and we were glad we did as it was extremely quiet and cosy (sitting by a fire place). I guess service could have been quicker if we had been in a hurry but was perfectly tailored to our needs. The dining room is fabulous and the food both in terms of inventiveness and presentation superb. For a special occasion this restaurant is worth every penny. Great deal, this time the menu wasn't as good for us. I had the soup and it was lovely. The mains were risotto, pork or veggie. We don't eat risotto and not mad on pork. We opted for the pork. It was beautifully presented, but the pork I felt was too thick and was a bit dry and tough. The sauce was delicious. The bread they serve is beautiful. Too easy to eat too much.
Staff very good and knowledgeable.
Walking through the florists to the restaurant is lovely and the smell is devine.
There are 2 bars both really nice. There are side rooms if you want a private party.

It was just the right mix of informed, friendly but not intrusive. I am still not sure how to achieve this, which highlights there is a magic to great service. Only one slip was our foreign speaking friend being told parsnip was a herb. The food was good. The highlights were the bread (I know, but good bread can't be beaten) and the delicate pastry puddings; try their special chocolates with your coffee too. Delicious! I am more mute about my main. A lovely piece of fish was very well salted and fried, and the seasoning and herbs just disappeared into the background.
