We have visited a couple of other nearby restaurants also for afternoon tea and this was definitely the best food and restaurant so far. Loved that we were given our own tray of food and there was more than enough grub for 8 ladies. The restaurant is lovely and staff were friendly without smothering us. We had a really nice afternoon and will definitely be going back. A superbly furnished bar with an excellent range of drinks to suit all tastes is the ideal place to relax whilst you peruse the extensive menu. Children are treated with courtesy and the children's menu is ideally suited to young tastes. Once your order is placed and the table is ready guests are shown through by an attentive member of staff. Food is well presented with plenty to eat for all appetites. Despite giggling rather loudly as we relived our youth...we were treated with the utmost courtesy and the young man who I think may have been the manager even offered to take a photo of the four of us together. The food was excellent and the surroundings perfect. We were all very pleased with our choice of venue. We started our meal with cocktails (why don't more places do cocktails?) and although on the pricey side they started the meal perfectly.
The highlight of the meal for me was the slow cooked steak pie. I pride myself in being a connoisseur of pie and I have to say I haven't had better - the pastry was hot crust I think and it was crisp and rich and the meat fell apart.
A pleasant surprise was the trio of desserts - the strawberry cheesecake was fresh light and very moreish!

I had researched the internet to find a restaurant close to Cottingham and found the Mill House. Liking what I read, I discreetly enquired of my sister-in-law who advised me that friends gave her very good reports of it. We were not disappointed! The choice of food, preparation and presentation was excellent. The staff were very attentive (without being overbearing) and made us feel very welcome. We have visited the Millhouse Restaurant on a number of occasions- afternoon tea, Christmas Day & New Year's Eve to list our most recent visits. On each occasion the service has been outstanding with staff being attentive to our needs. The food has been of excellent standard with a varied menu to choose from.

Expected it to be busy as it was the last time I went but it was surprisingly quiet - perhaps people are cutting back after christmas. You are made welcome on arrival and service is excellent. Had an amazing starter (Prawn & cray fish cocktail - recommended) and then the layred mushroom pancakes. Was so full I couldnt face a dessert !! The Champagne and Oysters arrived as pre-ordered. We moved into the resturant for the main meal and were taken to a great table in a light and airy place. It was Saturday afternoon and the place was packed so I guess that speaks for itself..
The cocktails were excellent. I'd recomend the experience to anyone.

We were well looked after, food was very good and the children were well catered for. A really nice restaurant with a nice feel to it. Food a bit different from good quality chain restaurant served well makes it stand out from the rest.
