The Mark Cross InnBeautiful viewsExcellent food and wine. Marvellous views across the valley. Delightful place for a meal.11/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent evening outThe food was outstanding...the only reason the service was marked down is that it was so busy (a testament to how good a pub it is) that we had quite a wait to be served. It would not put us off going again as the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the pub is gorgeous. A fabulous table right by the fire topped it off. Thank you to all at Mark Cross Inn.27/04/2013 00:00:00Beautiful fillet steakWe were in a party of 5 Saturday night. The food arrived with a reasonable wait as the Inn was packed. The young staff are very attentive and well rehearsed with the orders of service. Would recommend the Dewets Chardonnay £22.95 as it was crisp with a citrus tang. Our sons had burgers which are very nice but the bacon rasher garnish could be served a little more crisp than limp and soggy. My husband and I had fillet steak which was very tasty and cooked perfectly as asked.
My coffee was a little bitter even with a Baileys in it and sugar but this was only a small niggle.
Altogether another good value meal in pleasant surroundings with great service!27/04/2013 00:00:00Great food! Simple!A great pub, fantastic food and great service!
Will definitely be booking again soon.
:-)20/04/2013 00:00:00good honest foodGood choice of food, eventhough menu on website was different to the menu in the restaurant. Quick, efficient and friendly service. Food was presented nicely and it looked and tasted delicious. puddings are to die for too.13/04/2013 00:00:00Beer festival Sunday lunchI thoroughly recommend Sunday lunch at the Mark Cross Inn, we went last Sunday during one of their widely renowned Beer Festivals and had a fantastic time!
We were a party of 8 with 4 young children which posed no problem at all. We had pre booked a table inside as we know how busy Sunday lunches can get especially during the beer festival. The food and service were fantastic and this combined with the ambience created by the live music outside made for a lovely few hours spent with our friends!07/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent food and staffExcellent food, beautifully cooked, well presented, high quality. Staff were very friendly and attentive, highly recommended.31/03/2013 00:00:00Great pub, great food, great valueReally cannot recommend this pub enough, its Sunday roast are legendary, but all of the food is cooked to order and simply great, for 8 people with drinks and puddings (to die for) we spent £120 = £15 pound per head on average, really great value. Been many times and will be going agin for sure.
The staff are lovely.30/03/2013 00:00:00Must be tryedThis was the first time at this Inn. From the moment of arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful. As this was a birthday celebration we bought our own cake and decoration. the staff stored the cake for us and did not mind the decoration. We were shown our table and asked if we wished drinks. Our party was seven including two minors we were all treated well and though no children's menu any meal on the menu could be reduced in portion to suit a child. Nothing was too much trouble. The meal was hot and tasty. The only down side we could find was the cost of the drinks bill. But all said and done it is one of the best restaurants in our area. Will go again.23/03/2013 00:00:00I’ve been to the Mark CrossI’ve been to the Mark Cross a few times now and I can highly recommended it, it never let me down, consistency is spot on. I think this is by far the best pub restaurant in the area. I believe its run by the people who own the Chaser in Tonbridge (another fav of ours) these people clearly know how to run pubs 10 out of 1011/03/2013 00:00:00Very happy customerGreat food, faultless service, prompt and polite staff, great garden and play area if weather permits,no bad points at all.
We will return !09/03/2013 00:00:00yummy food and good service....We went to the Mark Cross Inn on the Saturday before Mothers day. It was really busy with some large groups and yet the service was excellent. They seemed to have got the right idea of having enough staff for a busy day! The food was delish - I had the salmon and it was not overcooked as it can be in pubs. it was served on a bed of leeks which were buttery and lovely. Then to top it off I had the banoffee pie - amazingly they made it look elegant and it was really not heavy at all. trhe atmosphere was buzzing but not overly noisy and there was plenty of space between the tables. There is good parking and the views are amazing - I'll be going back there in the summer to sit outside.09/03/2013 00:00:00Superb Whiting and Hammond pubExcellent food and wine, served by charming waiters. An ideal place for a party of people.
I will certainly go again.
Adrian Winbow.08/03/2013 00:00:00The Walkers Luncheon ClubVery good food - 7 had different meals all delivered at the same time hot and delicious24/01/2013 16:00:00Second visit and once againSecond visit and once again very nice meal , good portions , good service, lovely surroundings, cant wait for summer to see outside ...... definately my fav restaurant .......12/01/2013 16:00:00Consistently goodWe have been many times before and have never been disappointed. We went again on Sunday for lunch (including our 2 children) and it was a good meal. A minor criticism - the food took a little longer to arrive than usual (but then we were there at 1pm which is peak time and genrally it's pretty quick if you go a little earlier). All in all, one of our favourite places for lunch in the area, particulalrly in the spring / summer when the kids can play outside.05/01/2013 16:00:00Friday Fish and ChipsThe Mark Cross serves excelleent fish and chips every day but my husband seems to eat them on a Friday. You can chose between a large and small portion I think large for a chap and small for a girl unless you have a hugely massive appetite..03/01/2013 16:00:00SuperbTook my family and had an excellent New Year's Day lunch. Service was prompt and food was excellent!31/12/2012 16:00:00don't eat on the day ..........As usual, we had an excellent meal. The restaurant was 'humming' with customers but the service never faltered, despite the number of small children who had gone walkabout.
The portions are very generous - don't have lunch if you're going for dinner! Three courses is definitely a challenge and my wife has learned to ask for a starter portion of mussels as a main course - the main course equivalent would feed three people.
We are almost 'regulars' now.31/12/2012 16:00:00Fantastic, as alwaysThis is a favourite eating spot. The staff are always happy to see you, attentive and friendly. The food is always delicious and the clientele, without exception, always seem to be having a great time. Their positive, happy attitude seems to influence everyone else coming through the door. A buzzing, happy place where you can eat good food, who could want anything more?26/12/2012 16:00:00
