  • Catering: The Malt Shovel is well known for it's fish dishes, and, as we smoke our own fish and meat on site, this is often a popular choice for parties. We can offer buffet food or three- and four-course sit-down meals; the choice is yours. Please call us so that we can tailor our menu to your needs.
  • Private Party Facilities: We have three unique dining areas, and can offer private dining for parties of up to 30 in anyone of these on any night of the week. If you would rather take over the entire pub for your event, this can also be arranged, and we can seat up to 60 in the dining areas, and utilise the bar for your drinks reception. The pub has two pianos, and we can offer high quality musical entertainment for your event, such as a pianist, a jazz band, or top-class opera singers. We will tailor your party to your needs, so please call us to discuss menu and music options.
  • Entertainment: Few establishments can boast a couple of in-house professional Opera soloists but, in Anna & D'Arcy, that is precisely what The Malt Shovel has. Happy to sing the odd aria or two, or to play the piano during your evening meal, the Bleikers talented owners provide a unique atmosphere.
    In addition to the piano and singing, on Sunday lunchtime they often play host to wonderful, local jazz artists and this is an extremely popular event with both locals and diners from further afield.
  • Special Events & Promotions: Through our contacts in the music industry we are uniquely placed to offer superb musical entertainment for your event. Opera evenings are particularly popular, but please call us well in advance so that we have time to organise the best calibre entertainment.

The Malt Shovel, Brearton, is an award-winning 16th Century Country Inn, less than 10 minutes from the centre of Harrogate and signposted off the A61. With ancient oak beams, big leather chairs, flag stone floors and wonderful open fires, this characterful family-run country pub has been… recognised as a "top scorer" in the Harden's Restaurant Guide 2010.
