Diner Reviews
  • "great service at the bar, free swaps for cocktails that weren't too our taste. food fun, tasty and easy to eat"
    dined on 17/05/2013
  • "Lively, bustling atmosphere. Perhaps a touch too loud but it was a Friday night so no real complaints. Great value and tasty food."
    dined on 16/08/2013
  • "After 2 great visits I persuaded 9 ex-colleagues we should have our catchup dinner here. I requested the big square table upstairs when I booked, so we could all talk to eachother. On arrival, was told upstairs was shut and put on a narrow long table so half of us couldn't hear the other half. If I had been informed in advance I would have booked elsewhere. Last time, truly great service, drinks & food. This time, badly made drinks with imbalanced ingredients, dry overcooked food, waiters who verged on embarrassing/rude instead of playful/friendly. After an accidental spill, they harped on about it all eve. Had to get our own napkins (waiter finally handed us a pile to give out) and after starters, replace our own cutlery. Poor for £500!"

  • "Live music was great, service was fantastic.. Unfortunately steak was overlooked and rather dry! But didn't ruin the evening!"
    dined on 26/10/2013
  • "The resteraunt in general had a relaxed feel, yet you were still aware that it was classy by the setout and general atmosphere. There was a large range of dishes to choose from, suitable for most eating types - and most of them delicious. There was exceptional service, all the waiters were very friendly and punctual with our orders. I would definitely return again - and also reccommend it to a friend."
    dined on 22/10/2013
  • "Gets 2* for service as the waiter did tell us what was inedible on the menu - and 3* for ambience for the live music but the food they had was terrible - the croquettes were truly disgusting, to the point where you'd at least try what your serving to people - and not having half of your menu available on a Saturday at 10pm is really bad."
    dined on 19/10/2013
  • "Service was poor on this experience but things have been better in the last couple of visits."
    dined on 18/10/2013
  • "We were a group of 14 that dined here on Sunday afternoon. In the main we had a great afternoon, good service, flexible stag, good atmosphere. The food in general was good, however a few complaints in our group, for about five of the diners... Some of the meals were cold, some not so good quality (Sunday roast not very substantial), etc. In summary we'd rate a 6/10."

  • "The Living Room was great - food was lovely and good size portions (came away very full) Our waiter was funny and service was exceptional. Loved the bathrooms - had carpet and little bookshelves in the toilets! Would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice dinner after work or even a birthday/special occasion."

  • "Really disappointing evening. When I come into London we always eat at the living room so we were really disappointed this time as the service was not as good as usual. We had three different waiters who kept asking us the same questions multiple times, our food came in stages so our group had to start eating as the food was getting cold whilst others were still waiting. We had to ask 4 times for our side orders and when they eventually came the mains were cold. We also asked nearly 10 times for the condiments and a jug of water...the only thing the waiting staff brought on time was the bill when we asked! We did leave a tip as the staff were working hard but it was badly organised and clearly under staffed for the volume of customers"
    dined on 21/09/2013
  • "First time visit. Well assisted in finding appropriate table (upstairs instead of down, as quieter for conversation - live music downstairs is good but very loud - harder to talk in a small group).Food really excellent - perfectly cooked, well presented, and tasty (duck, pulled pork, the sharing platters). All diners happy. Cocktail list recommended and well made, and cheaper than expected for a good restaurant in W1. Very good value for money generally and nice range on the menu. Attentive staff with perfect timing for spotting emptying glasses. Look forward to returning!"
    dined on 30/08/2013
  • "Had a lovely meal with friends on Thursday at the Living Room. The food is consistently good however I do think its quite expensive for what it is. We had the mussels which were amazing and the Monkfish which was gorgeous but at £21 is very expensive for what is really a Gastro Pub. I love the decor of the Living Room and they do great drinks, the service can sometimes be a little slow but otherwise all good."
    dined on 29/08/2013
  • "Last time I went I wasn't overly impressed with the food (flowerpot crudités and poached egg asparagus), however I am so pleased we went back. A different menu choice makes all the difference! I had the veggie Glamorgan sausages, with braised lentils and mash - absolutely delicious, followed by a supreme chocolate fondant with coconut ice cream. Service was attentive whilst discreet, and we had a great (informal) business lunch in the outdoor section of the restaurant. Will definitely go back again soon."

  • "Been to this location before and all was great. Usually head to this chain in other locales as well. Tonight at W1 was a sad degrade in cooking & service. Duck was overcooked & under seasoned, sauce was not red wine & was watery, kale watery, duck fat potatoes bland & dry. Chef needs to use salt & pepper, staff need fire under their butts during service. Very disappointing."
    dined on 28/08/2013
  • "The perfect spot for a spot of casual al fresco dining in the bustling Heddon St food quarter. Food is nothing to write home about, but a step up from your traditional pub grub and in much nicer surroundings."
    dined on 12/08/2013
  • "Like too many modern places (low ceiling, sound reflecting surfaces) the sound levels were loud, unable to talk among 6 people except to the persons right next to you (and when we ate most tables were empty as it was early evening). Poor main dish vegetarian choice. Staff friendly, smiley, helpful. No complaints on non-vege food."
    dined on 17/08/2013
  • "Staff brilliant but some of the food over priced and not that tasty ( I'm referring to the £18.00 duck) The burger and fish chips are more value for money."
    dined on 16/08/2013
  • "Always helpful and friendly staff. I usually come for business lunches purely because the place has an upmarket feel. Sadly, the food is consistently poor!! Shame....... if it had a reduced menu with some great quality food, this place would be so much more popular."
    dined on 13/08/2013
  • "Went for the 2 course set menu. Great value for money. We decided to sit outside. The waiter was a friendly polite man. Ambience was brilliant, violin playing in the background and lots of wine."
    dined on 12/08/2013
  • "The Living Room is in a back-street of several pubs and restaurants behind Regent Street and on the busy friday evening we visited, the weather was fine so there were scores of people drinking outside, making for a very noisy experience. The food was fine but not great but at a reasonable price for central London."
    dined on 09/08/2013
  • "Great atmosphere. Very attentive service. Excellent value for money. Just check vegetables with some main opions (particularly on the perfect set menu). Loads of choice and great prices!"
    dined on 09/08/2013
  • "Contemporary restaurant providing wonderful options for all diners. Cool furnishings and restrooms. Don't miss dessert."
    dined on 03/08/2013
  • "My husband and I dined at Living Room for my 50 years birthday. We found the person helping us in the choise of meals very kind ( we are italians and we didn't understand all names written on the menu), professional and helpful in the choise of the plates. The food was excellent ( both meat and fish ) and the ambience elegant, but at the same time, informal. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends."
    dined on 02/08/2013
  • "Really lively, yet intimate restaurant produced really good food at reasonable prices. For a chain in central London it was surprisingly very, very good. The only complaint is that the staff were too eager to top up our wine glasses (it appears to be a feature of all Living Room restaurants), it was very irritating and a shame because all other aspects of the service were excellent."
    dined on 25/07/2013
  • "Hi, made a reservation here based on Al Fresco dining and spoke to a waiter pre booking and also stipulated on booking. When my guest arrived they advised they had nothing left outside and sorry they dont know who confirmed? I have eaten here many times and food is good but you always go to another place across the way which will really accomodate I have rated food as fair and value as had to fill in but can CONFIRM that this is not based on food and value"
    dined on 24/07/2013
  • "Service was only elevated to fair because the staff were pleasant. Even though the restaurant wasn't overly busy, I don't think I can remember being anywhere that has taken so long, from ordering drinks right through to trying to pay the bill. Seating was uncomfortable (when you're there for so long!) And although they have no control over the weather, air con would have been nice!"
    dined on 16/07/2013
  • "We had a lovely lunch at The Living Room, just sitting outside, but we found the serive quite poor. We were 'quizzed' by, who i presume was the mangeress, as to whether we had a booking, despite being check-in and seated by a waitress, and were made to feel quite uncomfortable. On asking for the bill I gave the mangeress my card and see proceeded to walk round aimlessly with my card for about 5 minutes before actually taking it inside to arrange payment."
    dined on 13/07/2013
  • "Booked a table online on a morning for 645 pm and put a note requesting an outside table, pleased to see when we arrived our outside table was ready with a 'reserved' card on it, nice touch. Waiter came to get our drinks order was funny and chatty, got a bottle of the prosecco and a cocktail, nice timing when the drinks arrived. I ordered the 8oz steak and my girlfriend ordered the prawn salad, which was a little small, would have been nice if my steak had been hotter, but the overall experience made up for this. there was a live mini orchestra up the street which perfected the atmosphere, even though you are a pebble toss from regent st you feel like your somewhere completely different, would definitely go back and definitely reccommend."
    dined on 08/07/2013
  • "We received an excellent dining experience in the Living Room on Saturday night. We went pre theatre and it was just perfect. Highly recommend it."
    dined on 06/07/2013
  • "Nice food, not very substantial main (had the chicken). Service was friendly and above all nice and fast since we were delayed and had a show to catch after."
    dined on 06/07/2013
  • "...being one of the sunniest days of the year, it would have been MUCH nicer to have been sat outside but as we'd booked we were put indoors, pretty much on our own. Bookings should take priority outdoors or at least by a window on such a beautiful day. Food was good and service great although due to everyone being outside it was sometimes hard to get hold of someone!"
    dined on 05/07/2013
  • "Went to the Living Room last Sunday for an afternoon catch-up with friends. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was tasty however one negative is, a lot of our choices were not available. I would recommend the Living Room if you are looking for a decent meal after shopping on Oxford/Regent St."
    dined on 30/06/2013
  • "We had another very good lunch at The Living Room. Food was lovely. Will be going back."
    dined on 24/06/2013
  • "booking very easy and increase in numbers at last minute easy table was near rear door, a lot of outside smoke was coming into restaurant - was a hot evening nice ambience but not nice smell sticky toffee pudding ordered was cold - new one was brought over quickly and waitress apologised need more soft drink options service was very good and quick"
    dined on 20/06/2013
  • "I chose this restaurant for a catch up/informal business lunch and for the fact it had outdoor seating in the hope it might be sunny. It wasn't but we had a really great experience regardless. Service was first class and the food was interesting, well presented and reasonably priced. I will definitely go again, hopefully when the sun is shining!"
    dined on 20/06/2013
  • "I found out about The Living Room via Heddon street dining as I was looking for a restaurant near the London Palladium: I was not disappointed! The restaurant was lovely, & the food delicious, I would highly recommend the Gressingham Duck, and then Chocolate Pave with ground peanut & salted caramel ice cream. The cocktails were tasty, but had very little alcohol in them so had no 'kick' and were therefore not value for money in my opinion. The main problem I had was that when the doors are open, lots of cigarette smoke came into the restaurant, which, as a non smoker, I found to be quite unpleasant. However the staff were fantastic and very attentive, and quickly closed the doors when requested. They were also very good throughout the meal."
    dined on 21/06/2013
  • "We were really looking forward to this small team lunch after working on a project together for the last two years. However, to start, the seating at the table was very awkward - a bench ?? Come on this isn't a kindergarten establishment. Then my colleague ordered a burger and asked for it to be well done, it came and the whole of the middle was rare so coudn't be eaten. The sauce on the chicken was far too thin, drippy and salty and the Bakewell Tart was nothing like, it clearly was deconstructed but had not taste of almonds at all and the crumbled bits resembled burnt biscuits. Come on Living Room surely you can do better than this. Very disappointing."
    dined on 14/06/2013
  • "We had a really nice evening, the service was very friendly and the food good. The only thing was the level of noise made it difficult to hear what we were saying and we had to shout a lot!"
    dined on 12/06/2013
  • "I organised a last minute dinner for my birthday here and was very pleasantly surprised both by the quality of the food and the value - two courses and plenty of wine came to £32 per head. The service was quite slow, but we weren't in a rush and the staff were very friendly. Recommended."
    dined on 12/06/2013
  • "A few months ago I discovered The Living Room in Heddon street. In the winter they have a fire in the middle of the restaurant that gives it a great ambience and it just warms you up so quickly. In the summer, my most recent visit, they open the doors and it feels fantastic to sit and eat in this restaurant with the fresh air around you. Every part of the meal was of an excellent quality and very tasty. A typical 3 course meal/lunch and some drinks would cost you about £25, so it won't break the bank. My favourite dessert is the sticky toffee pudding, by far the best I ever had! The personnel arranging the bookings are very professional and so far I have been lucky to get the table(s) I requested."
