Attentive staff took their time to explain everything on offer at that time of the evening and were pleasant and informative without being pushy. This probably helped them to upsell both the bread/olive nibbles and cocktails which we hadn't originally set out to have. Starters were simple but tasty - mushrooms on toast was particularly good. Main courses were good without being anything special but the whole experience was well worth the money and a nice start to our night out. Two cocktails, nibbles, two course early diner menu and a bottle of wine for £51. Pleasant surroundings and somewhere we may well re-visit the next time we are in Liverpool.20/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent ServiceWe had a booking in the Living Room on Saturday night and we had a young child with us, on the way the Taxi driver said that he didnt think children were allowed in the evening. However we were made very welcome and although the service was slow due to the fact that the restaurant was very busy we were really well looked after and the staff were very attentive. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very relaxed. I went this weekend with my mum, nan and aunty as a Mother's Day treat and as per usual we had a lovely day! We told the waiter that we were slightly cold, so he made sure that the heating was put on for us. Me and my aunty were also invited behind the bar to make our own cocktails, which was very fun! We were met & escorted to our table promptly. The service is first class & so is everything else. The food, the setting, the ambience & the entertainment was excellent with a 2 piece on the guitar & piano. There is a nightclub underneath which we declined but were still given wristbands for free entry incase we changed our minds. You can hear the bass of the music in the club slightly the later in the evening it is, say after about 10:30pm. After your meal you can go relax in the seated enclosures & enjoy the entertainment. The cocktails were excellent.
We had starters and main and cannot fault the food as it was served promptly and well presented.

However, when contacted by the restaurant for confirmation the day before, they kindly changed our booking to 20.30.
After reading a couple of reviews and being in our fifties, we had become a little apprehensive as to whether this may be a young persons place and perhaps very noisy. On arrival however, our fears were instantly allayed as there was a wide age group amongst the diners and the ambience was perfect.
The set menu was excellent providing a variety of interesting options. The service, the food and the time allowed between each course being served was exceptional.

The write up gave the impression that this was a pie and mash restaurant but it's far from it - it has great ambience. Service was good although a little slow at times but we were there during xmas party season and the restaurant was full. It is a little more expensive than your average restaurant but the food is worth it although portions are small but this didn't bother us because the food is very rich. You should probably order side dishes to accompnay the food. Drinks were a little expensive. Only minuses - a prawn starter in soggy batter, and Bacardi advertised on the cocktail menu as "Estd. in Cuba",,,,,,and no mention that it is NOT, of course, Cuban!
