The attentiveness of the staff was perfect, not pressurising and very friendly. The timing was just right. I had the fish and chips which came on a wooden platter, presented perfectly and outstandingly good taste. My wife had the gressingham chicken which again was cooked to perfection and presented extremely well. To sum up we both enjoyed our experience and recommend the restaurant to our friends. I think the layout of the restaurant really adds to the atmosphere. The booths are really good seating. The food was delicious and good value. I've been to restaurants with more impressive presentation of food, but really it's the taste that matters most. Perhaps a wider choice of desserts would have been more enjoyable. We both had the ale battered prawns and a selection of bread to start; absolutely delicious. Then the steak mains were also cooked to perfection,not always the case when you ask for well done. What can I say about the sticky toffee pudding.....it was the best we'd even had. The atmosphere was just electric. Wine was affordable and the nibbles to start with were a great idea. We had 3 courses and enjoyed each and everyone. A must have is the Thai Fishcakes - just scrummy! The sea bass was gorgeous with the mushrooms and bak choi, the duck dish was just perfect. Chocolate pudding and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the thing that amazed us was the chap that took our order did not even write it down!! Finished with coffee ending a lovely evening. We were booked for 4.30pm and were asked to be finished by 6.15pm but we did not leave until 6.45pm and there was no hurrying us from the restaurant. If you have a diner's card then the cost of the meal becomes more reasonable. With their wine list I find the slightly less expensive wines not very good and the good wines expensive, more so than many others around. I would like to see a selection of better drinking wines at more quaffable prices.

We deal with the public nearly every day ourselves and we what it takes to make customers feel looked after, we also know it can be quite challenging if it's busy, but this certain waitress had it down to a tee. The rest of the party were served with theirs when he came across with my starter that he had managed to get made by the Chef. This is exceptional service as he could have left me with nothing.
Our starters were delicious,The other three people in my party had a great main course, unfortunaltey I chose to have one of my favourites and it was dissapointing too much vinegar. Two 10oz steaks followed which were cooked nicely & to our liking. If I had to be picky..they were perhaps a little smaller than you would have expected & certainly not 10oz..but tasted very good non the less. The only thing that consistently lets the restaurant down is the size of some of its side dishes. Unfortunately most mains don't come with sides which are extra... £3.50 for cabbage which I could only describe as a spoonful. Don't let this put you off however, overall it was a lovely meal and I would not hesitate to return.
