A word from The Lincoln Grille at the White Hart Hotel
Situated between the picturesque splendour of Lincoln Cathedral and the castle wall, Grille is inspired by the unpretentious bistros of New York and Paris.
Grille is a neighbourhood restaurant that's laid back enough for a relaxed lunch or a quick bite after work but with more than enough style to give a dinner date a bit of class.

We were very pleased with the meal
we had, it was great value and set in lovely surroundings. The only issue we had was that we had to remind the waitress to bring us the wine we had ordered, apart from that it was a great evening."

Had an excellent evening at the
white hart yet again, so very romantic the setting was amazing and the food was divine, the presentation of each course was amazing, the staff were super efficient and pleasant. We were seated in the same place we dined for my 30th last august which made it even more special. Overall had the wonderful evening both in the restaurant and cocktail bar then up to the room for the most comfortable nights sleep ever."

We had a family dinner here.
Lovely location - has own private car park right opposite. Great quality food. Very friendly staff. nice atmosphere."

I booked a table for my partners
birthday, we arrived a little early but were seated immediately. Our coats were taken and bread arrived as soon as we placed our drinks order. All of the staff were polite and helpful, I would and have recommended the Grille to friends and family. We will be back."

My wife and I dined at The White
Hart on Sat 11th Jan. It was my wife`s birthday and also a rare evening to ourselves, without our baby daughter. We had high hopes, as we had enjoyed our experience here in the past. How wrong we were. Firstly, there was no ambience. Some background music would have been nice. The restaurant was freezing cold and we were sat near doors to the kitchen, where all we heard was doors slamming and people delivering produce, shouting to the staff. Our starters were good, but we both then ordered the fillet steaks (cooked medium, at £28 each). Mine was overcooked, which the chef agreed, but didn`t have any more fillets, so I ordered a Rib eye. This was just gristle and the chips were rock hard. Won`t be back."

We are very impressed by the
service.Food is really good and nicely presented."

Great food and good service
although bar staff were a little moody. Overall a great location and food was good value for money and well presented. We went for a family birthday on one of the busiest weekends in Lincoln over the Christmas market and they were very accommodating and well organised. The only thing I will say was the table, especially considering it was Christmas was very bare a little decor would have made it feel more welcoming. I would definitely go back again."

We had a lovely lunch here whilst
the Christmas market was on. And they were very organised and very prepared, and the food was lovely too. Will definitely be returning"

First visit to the White Hart. My
wife ordered a white wine spritzer but got only white wine. Also, we ordered coffees to finish but received espressos rather than filter coffees. My food was ok but according to my wife, the roast beef did not taste fresh. For a well-known restaurant in a high profile area of Lincoln, we would have expected something better."
dined on 17/11/2013
As always, great value, good
freshly cooked food. Friendly staff. One small hiccup was that we waited a long tome for the main - seemed to be a wedding party that delayed things."
dined on 16/11/2013
Disappointing, booked for a
special occasion and it was not very special, tables were disappointing no table cloths , sticky chipped wooden ones. The starters were tasty well presented, and so were the desserts. The mains were very boring and very small portions, fish and chips was the smallest portion of fish my husband had ever seen. Just general pub grub nothing special."
dined on 21/09/2013
Been several times before: the
dinner jazz vibe has disappeared; food not as good as in the past; a hair in the starter; had to get our own dessert menus; run out of one of the desserts; wrong dessert turned up. We will go again because we trust that this experience was nothing more than just a bad day at the office."

Took sister for Sunday
lunch, overall we couldn't fault it.Very good.Would defiantly recommend to anybody.Very good value for money"
dined on 25/08/2013
My husband and I took a friend for
dinner. Easy to book online through top table and the restaurant was not too busy. We were given some bread/houmous on the house which was nice and the menu was concise not too long and had a good mixture of dishes. The food we had was good but the portion sizes were a bit in the small side considering how much they cost. In particular the summer risotto as a starter was very small and my main of smoked haddock risotto with poached egg also small. All in two starters, three mains, one side and a bottle of wine cost £75 so not too bad. Won't be rushing back but will go again."

The staff made a warm and friendly
first impression and we loved the facilities, the food was week priced and well portioned with a good attention to details, the wine list catered for all tastes"
dined on 29/06/2013
Very enjoyable meal having taken
advantage of the meal deal and ensured we had time to walk to the theatre in good time."
dined on 29/06/2013
The food was of good quality with
a nice small and varied menu. But the eating area, designed to be contemporary looks tired and there is insufficient room between tables, in places if busy, other diners would be eating at your elbow. The tables are scratched and there is insufficient room on tables for two. Not a place to go for a celebration unless there is a group of you, In summary OK but not special."
dined on 26/06/2013
Delicious Sunday roast beef and
trimmings well presented and attentive service. Will definitely visit again."
dined on 23/06/2013
The food is very well cooked and
presented lovely, however our main meals arrived minus side dishes, after a few minutes I managed to catch the eye of the waitress to ask. The waitress came back to say the chef was cooking them, this was now 5 minutes after receiving the main meal, which was fish. We had to ask for our main meals to be taken back to be kept warm, didn't fancy eating our main meal then having the side dish on their own!!!! This is the second time we have been to The Grill, and the second time our side orders haven't arrived. We thought because the food was so tasty and it was possibly a mistake the first time we would try again, however after the same experience the second time we will not be returning."

Went to The Grille Thursday early
evening. Had the Early Bird menu....super seven! What a great meal we had. My only criticism is there's only a limited veggie option on the starter choice which was salad and soup which I think are rather boring. We had the parfait which was tasty and the fish pie had salmon and prawns in and was topped with a crunchy cheesy mash. Delicious. Our table also had the sausages which were served with veg and the gnocchi which had lots of sauce. Desserts were varied and we opted for sticky toffee pud which was light and had lots of lovely sauce and the chocolate mousse which looked and tasted delicious. All in all service was excellent and it was really good value for money. Will definitely go back."

Having eaten in this restaurant on
previous visits to Lincoln and enjoyed the food and atmosphere I was disappointed on this occasion, The food itself was acceptable (with one notable exception) - the Lobster Bisque was a delight, but the selected main courses failed to deliver - the steak was acceptable, but the 'special' was a total disappointment. Because of our previous experiences, I am prepared to treat the occasion as a one-off, but overall it did rank in the 'could do better' category."
dined on 04/05/2013
Despite a very helpful and caring
front of house woman and a hard working young male waiter, we had a disastrous meal! We were told they could cater for special dietary requirements but then failed to deliver anything right the first time. Then when we finally did get food that could be eaten without fear of dire consequences it was of miniscule proportions. So no stars for the chef or communication. Some of the food was ok when it did appear, but no we won't be hurrying back or recommending to friends"

The Lincoln Grille is a
delightfully informal and relaxed annexe to the elegant White Hart Hotel. The staff are attentive and the food is of good quality, albeit charged at a premium. I would highly recommend."
dined on 16/03/2013
This restaurant is located less
than 01 minutes walk to the cathedral & castle in the heart of historic and beautiful Lincoln. Recently had both lunch & an early dinner with the family at the Grille. Operates an all day menu, with special deal between 1700-1900hrs to catch early/post work diners. Clean & relatively fresh decour & the staff are welcoming & well turned out. Food is well presented, with a good varied selection of dishes and several vegetarian options. Portion size is adequate and offers reasonable value for money. The wine list is somewhat limited but again will not put too large a whole in your pocket. Staff seem rather inexperienced, perhaps not briefed particularly well but friendly & willing nonetheless. Will return again."

The waitress though enthusiastic
did not know menu or drinks availability the best part of the meal was the chocolate trio it was fantastic. My steak was cooked just as I asked so was very enjoyable. I had no complaints on the actual food at all. The real shame was dining in the middle of the restaurant on a Saturday night with really bright lights no background music and generally no atmosphere. A real shame as the food is very nice though limited choice"
dined on 16/02/2013
Nice, reasonably priced, food but
unfortunately it came after a 50 minute wait for the mains and 20 minutes for dessert (we were feeling optimistic)...not too bad for a group in a very busy restaurant except we were over half of approx. 15 customers total! One of the wait staff was good, always checking to see what needed doing around the restaurant, however, the other was a little more...relaxed."

It was my fathers birthday, and we
had managed to arrange a surprise visit from friends in Birmingham who travelled to Lincoln especially. We chose to go to The Grille for Sunday lunch as we had been before for evening meals and had thoroughly enjoyed it. The deal was brilliant as well, great value for money. The only disappointments were that we had given our orders to the waitress before she decided to tell us that there was no lamb or beef left. This was a big let down in itself but the waitress wasn't apologetic and hadn't told us that when we were given the menus. It was also a shame to see that there were very few vegetarian options."
dined on 13/01/2013
Having heard good things, I booked
a table for two hoping for a fun night out. The decor is modern (nice enough) but perched on a cafe style table hardly felt like the evening was an 'experience'. Service started poorly when our table was unavailable on arrival. We were seated 25 mins later and after this service was enthusiastic but the waiters lacked attention. The menu offers good choice but by the time we had ordered we plumped straight for two steaks (mine turned out overcooked). We were very tempted by the dessert menu but by this time we had had enough and even had to go hunting to find a waiter to pay for our meal. I imagine the Grille could provide a very enjoyable evening but it was expensive for a disappointing experience."
dined on 17/11/2012
The menu is reasonably priced with
2 roasts for Sunday. However it is only good value if the food is well prepared - my mother's potatoes were hard. The beef was tender but not pink as requested - if asked by the waitress if the beef is to be pink or well done, one expects the beef to be as requested, otherwise why ask? The starters (soup and chicken liver) and the dessert (panacotta) were really good. Service was good, delivered with a smile. A pleasant experience, which could have been really good and better value if more attention had been paid to some aspects of the food itself. We would, however, go again for a Sunday Lunch."
dined on 18/11/2012
Have visited twice in the last
month for Sunday Lunch. Tables are spaced out well, 2 course Sunday lunch for £9, special offer, though you don't need to order Sunday lunch on Sunday as a full menu is offered.. Food was good, though only one slice of beef (two would have been better!), vegetables aldente, roast potatos cooked to perfection. No Yorkshire pudding with the pork (though if you ask, they are happy to supply!). portioned well enough to be filling, but not fill you up!. Desserts a delight. Service was good, though the staff were very busy. Would eat there again."
