  • "we have eaten there many times as a couple and also with friends and family - always enjoyable and the views are fantastic whatever the weather"

  • "I know service should be unhurried and that there is a disclaimer on the menu that food is freshly cooked so there may be a delay but this is the second time here at Sunday lunch time when it was just too slow. They were busy as the view and food are great. The portions are a good size and food well cooked and presented but 2 and a quarter hours for a 3 course meal without coffee is a little excessive however beautiful and distracting the view is . We were also sitting near the air con which was like sitting in an artic gale. Do go but leave yourself plenty of time!"

  • "Came as a party to celebrate Mother's Day. Service was excellent, we were seated immediately despite having arrived late and the waiting staff were fast and friendly. Unfortunately, I feel the menu is a little overpriced as although the food is good, I wouldn't describe it as excellent. Having said that, I will still continue to dine at Lewinnick as it is a great venue with fabulous staff, spectacular views and good food."

  • "The view is beautiful. Service is friendly but extremely slow. We waited over 30 minutes for poached eggs on a muffin, and two of the eggs were hard by the time they arrived. Having asked for our coffee to be brought with the food, it arrived early, and we finished it by the time the food eventually arrived. Having pointed this out, they were very apologetic, and gave us an extra complimentary cup."

  • "My partner and I were looking for a nice place to spend our 2 year anniversary. As we both work in the industry we are always a bit dubious of trying new places. What a night we had, It was lovely, The food, The atmosphere everything was perfect. Thank you for making it so memorable. We will surely see you soon"

  • "Went here for my 20th birthday, and it was very nice ! All staff were friendly and smiling, nothing was a chore. Food here is the best i have had. Good size portions, i would recommend the stick toffee pudding! It was amazing ! A Spanish woman served us and she was brilliant. Scenery outside was beautiful. would recommend to everyone."

  • "We didn't stay in there very long, after attending the bar to ask where our table was we were ignored by the bar staff not once but twice. It wasn't busy at the bar, there were only two people there one that had the attention of one of the staff but not for service and the other was a person who the barman approached instead of us to take a food order. Ignoring someone once is bad enough but obviously this restaurant employs staff that prefer to see their own reflection and flirt with the regulars."

  • "We had a meal at the Lewenick Newquay . We were made to feel very welcome and the food was amazing . I had the belly pork as did my friend and it was cooked to perfection. We would defiantly return ."

  • "Staff were fab, anticipated everything. Food was excellent!"

  • "We have enjoyed the Lewinnick at many different times of the day. We usually fully enjoy the experience, but on this occasion it didn't go so well. Our first table was in the middle of the thoroughfare close to the bar area, and the staff were happy to move us. The second table (further down the thoroughfare) was one of two tables without lighting above which made it quite dark. No massive concern. My wife and son were really happy with their food, but my steak was awful. I had to leave half of it, part chewed, on my plate. For £18 it should have been better. I ate a steak at a Wetherspoons pub recently which was twice as good, more trimmings, half the price, plus a free beer! Didn't make a fuss but I know the staff would have been great."

  • "Really enjoyed the food. The service was excellent although the triple cooked chips were not as good as expected."

  • "I booked lunch at the Lewinnick Lodge for Valentines day for my husband and I and our 6 year old son. I requested a window seat which was accommodated and booking online was ultra easy and quick!! The staff were chatty and attentive; nothing was too much trouble and the choice of food was great and excellent value. My husband had three courses, I had two courses and our son had two courses with drinks and we paid £50 which was brilliant. I go to the Lewinnick quite regularly, usually for a coffee but I would defiantly recommend eating there. The atmosphere is relaxed, child friendly and welcoming. All I need to do now is try out one of the rooms!!!"

  • "Appalling attitude from the manager. I called 6 times to say we were late for breakfast. we arrived we were told that breakfast was finished at 11.30 ( 12.00 and only two tables occupied). I had tried to call and he said my phone must be faulty and even if we had got through we would have been told breakfast finished at 11.30 -I said had we known we could have found somewhere else that served breakfast. I asked if the chef the could do anything off the breakfast menu - but he said no! I also pointed out -no where on the website does it state that the breakfast menu ends at 1130 - it implies that you can order all day. the manager agreed that the wording was ambiguous! We ordered from the lunch menu - which was at best mediocre!"

  • "We recently enjoyed Sunday breakfast at the Lewinnick Lodge and we would highly recommend it as the atmosphere is exceedingly relaxed, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was nicely paced but not forgotten, we spent a few hours with friends and will definitely return."

  • "We use the Lewinnick all the time. The atmosphere is always always comfortable but smart enough for special occasions. The food is not cheap but interesting and good."

  • "Went to this restaurant with my wife and daughter for 2014 New Year's Day lunch. The waiting staff were really friendly. With a bit more training about not leaning across customers the service would have been excellent as well as making us feel really wanted. Understandably, the restaurant got pretty full and it then got hard to hear on our table at times, but the views, even on a stormy day like it was, were spectacular. The food was superb. Between us, we had squid, soup, mussels, pork belly, feather of beef, creme brulee, panacotta and scones. The only negative comment was the the pork might have had some crackling to go with it. The rest was great and the scones, which I rarely choose, were wonderful. Highly recommended."

  • "I'm local and will probably eat here about 4 times a year. It has some absolutely amazing views and a fantastic terrace in the summer. In the winter a cozy fire. The food is yummy and of better quality than many food establishments in Newquay. Worth a visit if just for the location. You should probably book a table in summer."
    dined on 02/12/2013
  • "Love the Lewinnick as it is set in beautiful surroundings and has a very relaxed atmosphere. However was disappointed on this particular evening as it was a Thursday and not very busy but there were very long delays in getting each course of food out. Also one of the other tables was very rowdy all night so you had to shout to be heard. Would still recommend as service is usually much quicker."
    dined on 28/11/2013
  • "Very good service and food choice. Great view very clean and welcoming."
    dined on 25/11/2013
  • "Visited the Lewinnick again, being regular customers but on this occasion I opted for the steak and salad. The steak was very good but the salad consisted of a handful of rocket!! My husband and daughter had the beefburger which they rate the "best around" and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for. We have always had a good meal at the Lewinnick but I was surprised at the "salad" dish of only rocket!!! We have never had a bad meal here and will return!"

  • "Booking made via Toptable appeared not to have been registered by restaurant's booking system - first time ever! Fortunately table was found for us and our guests. Service not up to usual high standard in restaurant - was this due to bar area being very busy? We will be returning - a favourite place can have an 'off day'?"
    dined on 04/11/2013
  • "Had a meal here with my Partner one Saturday evening. Starters were about £6 and our mains of steak were about £16. Both courses were good, not big portions if thats what you want but were just about enough. The place was very busy but the young girl who served us was delightful. In fact she probably added to the experience of the evening. She was so bubbly and wanted to do all she could for us. Would certainly go again as its my partners favourite place in newquay."

  • "Great food, friendly staff, stunning views. Value for money. They made us forget about Rick Stein...We had dinner there every evening of our stay...A superb experience! We'll be back!"

  • "Great location, food and atmosphere - bar staff great - shame the staff in the restaurant let the side down!"
    dined on 05/10/2013
  • "We were a little disappointed as we had booked this meal 2 1/2 weeks previous but when we arrived although she didn't say so we got the impression that we weren't booked in. The lady spent some time looking for our booking and then said we were put on a table which was right by the desk were everyone queued for their tables and was out of the way although when we booked we had asked for a window table if possible. I would have thought 2 1/2 weeks was enough notice to get a better table. We had received a confirmation email of the booking and then another reminder email the day before. Having said that the meal was very good and the waitress was exceptional and we would probably go back again."
    dined on 05/10/2013
  • "My family and I booked Sunday lunch at the Lewinnick for Sunday 6/10. I'm glad we did book as the restaurant was incredibly busy and noisy. The service was very slow with 30-40 minutes between courses, and thats after you'd finished each course. My daughter had the sea bass fillet, lovely taste but full of bones. No one apologised or offer a replacement dish. The waiter said the fillets come pre prepared so the chef there is not responsible for the bones in the fish. Why doesn't the chef check the fillets before cooking/serving for bones and if not good enough.....change supplier.? That said the rest of the meal was very nice and I would eat there again, just not the sea bass.!"
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "Ask about the description of the main courses ~ A belly Pork is presented as a rolled slice !! Ask before ordering ~ except for the descriptions the food, service and general overview is excellent"

  • "Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the staff were friendly and helpful"

  • "The views from this restaurant must rank among the best in Cornwall. It is a bright, cheery restaurant with plenty of window tables. Our meals, which included a BLT sandwich, fried squid and pasta were all excellent. The prawn pasta dish and the vegetarian pasta dish were especially delicious and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for! Service was good. It was a little noisy as we were seated next to some small children, but assume this would not happen in the evening. Good place for a family lunch though. The bar area is also bright and spacious and there is also an outdoor seating area where one can have a drink or a full meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend it highly, we will certainly be going again."

  • "Good atmosphere. Very good service, I asked if I could have moules as a starter even though it was not on the menu and they were happy to supply. Quick service but didn't feel rushed. Wonderful views."
    dined on 19/09/2013
  • "Cons: We were a party of 9 and it took one hour plus for delivery of food. Restaurant a bit cavernous and lacking in either character or ambience. Food was good but not exceptional and the prices were on the high side. Drinks extortionate! Pros: lovely balcony outside with exceptional views over the sea. However, should not use the views as an excuse for charging over the top prices for good food."

  • "Took my mum here for her birthday and the food was lovely and the waitress was lovely and took our order quickly and effiently. I would definitely go there again :)"

  • "Spectacular view of the sea and coastline even when the weather is poor. Dining on the terrace you can hear the waves crashing below. And that's before you get to the food. It's fair to say I'm picky, although the menu isn't massive I found plenty to enjoy here. Service was ultra friendly and prompt. It is a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets over the sea."
