The Hinds Head - BrayFood was delicious. ServiceFood was delicious. Service was warm and attentive and the pace was just right.13/05/2013 00:00:00A special birthday treatWe had lunch at the Hinds Head in Bray for my fiance's birthday - we both enjoy good food so it was a treat for both of us. Although some of the staff appeared to be a little clumsy - there were two accidents on nearby tables - they were friendly and even brought out a birthday card signed by the chef - a nice touch.
The food, while not cheap, is worth every penny and the set menu is really good value for money. We can thoroughly recommend the scotch eggs as a snack as well! (We had scotch egg for starter then two courses - main and dessert from the set menu).
Not your every day pub but a great place to visit for a special occasion.13/05/2013 00:00:00The best chips in England!Took my fiance here for his 50th birthday, and we were both blown away by the service, food and value for money - not to mention the chips! Heston has created a fantastic pub with loads of ambiance and tremendous food, without being too 'scientific' or overtly foodie. Definitely try the cocktails, the Bloody Mary will give your evening a real kick start! I also recommend the magnums of red wine - great value for money and an excellent heritage. The steak and chips are possibly the best we have had in England - I can't urge you enough to go and try for yourself!11/05/2013 00:00:00Special mealWe celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary & you made it very special. We are now going to book again for my husbands 40th birthday in November.10/05/2013 00:00:00The Hinds Head just never fails toGreat food, fabulous location and served by a team of staff really enjoy being a part of the experience.
The ox tail and kidney pie, sided by a bowl of triple cooked fries is simply heaven on a plate.10/05/2013 00:00:00FantasticWonderful food, fantastic service, made to feel very comfortable, going again next month.07/05/2013 00:00:00Birthday lunch at Hinds HeadI booked the Hinds Head for a Sunday birthday lunch for my husband - we wanted to find something special but also suitable to take our two children. We had a wonderful meal and were looked after very well. It was truly memorable and has prompted me to write this review to say thank you.05/05/2013 00:00:00Always good ...The Hind's Head does good quality food, cooked superbly without any great fussiness but with different 'touches'. Atmosphere is very unstuffy - cosy, but bright and airy.04/05/2013 00:00:00Amazing food!I had dinner at the Hinds Head on Saturday night. The food was fantastic, if a little unusual - I enjoyed the fact it was a twist on a normal food item - I had the brulee of chicken parfait, which I have to say was the best "chicken liver pate" I have ever tried. The dessert was a revalation - chocolate wine slush, which came with instructions on how to eat it, and a story about the history of the dessert. All in all fantastic food - cannot recommend it enough.04/05/2013 00:00:00Fantastic lunch menuDelicious and beautifully presented food, great service. We found it good value as well, 3 courses for 2 people plus a few drinks was about £100 - wonderful for Michelin-starred dining! We will definitely return.04/05/2013 00:00:00FantasticFrom the moment we arrived until we left we were made to feel special. The staff were brilliant, friendly and knowledgable. The food was excellant and we had a wonderful experience. Never rushed, it was a dining delight. We will be back again soon.04/05/2013 00:00:00They do have specials! My second time here and food lovely as always. One thing this time I discovered is they do have a specials menu but we never got given it! That said what we had was lovely! If you like gin try a gin mare or monkey 47!03/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely dinner with a great friendWe had the most lovely evening with cocktails, wine and post dinner drinkies with coffee. The food is remarkable, service just the right balance between attentive and unobtrusive. Stunning building, very relaxed and delicious - just right :-)03/05/2013 00:00:00A little GemFantastic food, amazing value, wonderful location!!01/05/2013 00:00:00Happy coupleI took my wife for lunch for our anniversary. Great food, great service and we had a really nice time.01/05/2013 00:00:00original tasty dishes. good serviceVaried menu with good selection of quality dishes. Faultless service.26/04/2013 00:00:00Pleasantly relaxed diningA good balance of classic dishes with interesting twists, each dish was delicious but left you curious as to the different flavours you'd just experienced. Menu explained with enthusiasm by our attentive waiter. Relaxed ambience matched that of the lovely village.26/04/2013 00:00:00Nicely informal bar and diningNicely informal bar and dining area. We enjoyed a very relaxing afternooon. Food and flavours were memorable. Staff had professionalism and warmth. A real treat. Thank you.25/04/2013 00:00:00Made us feel special.Stupid web site is questioning the language in my review... REALLY!!!!
Fine... Idiots... Great place, fantastic service... Will be coming back.
Heston or someone else, get rid of these clowns and I will give you more feedback.
Jase25/04/2013 00:00:00Chocolate slush goodnessLovely warming atmopshere. Staff very attentive and friendly. Excellent recommendations for accompanying wines for courses. Starter (hash of snails) and desert (choclate slush with the nicest tasting orangey biscuit I have ever had) were the highlights. Main meal was ok, but starters and deserts were WOW.20/04/2013 00:00:00Will return! For starters I had Cod Three Ways which was very tasty. My friends had Chicken Liver Pâté - delicious! Two of us had Pork Collar ( not on the menu) which was fabulous. The third main was Cod with Mussels Broth. We were warned that it is served at about 40C so not steaming hot. Cod was tasty and the lower temperature was interesting. Treacle sponge and tart for dessert - fab. We had a fantastic meal and our waiter was brilliant. Extremely knowledgeable about the different dishes and their preparation - exactly what I would like from all waiters!!20/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent service, excellent mealThe soused mackerel was wonderful, and the oxtail & kidney pudding was, as usual very special. It is an outstanding signature dish. Best visit ever to The Hinds Head.19/04/2013 00:00:00Very good food, excellent,Very good food, excellent, informed, friendly service14/04/2013 00:00:00Special Occasion - fabulous! My wife and I were celebrating both our 10th Wedding Anniversary and her Birthday. Not only was the food outstanding, but the signed cards for both events were a lovely personal touch. The Restaurant Manager also came over to say hello and we could not have been made to feel more welcome and add to what was already a special day for us both.13/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent presentation & service.Excellent presentation & service. attentive and knowledgeable staff12/04/2013 00:00:00Hinds Head reviewWe visited the Hinds Head on Saturday for an evening meal as a party of four. We travelled all the way up from South Wales specially for the meal staying nearby at a local hotel. The food was fantastic and we tried to ensure we all ordered different things so as to sample as many of the dishes as possible. My personal favourite was the scotch egg - lovely. We found the wine to be excessively expensive (why?) which was a shame but didn't spoil the eve as we made our way back to our hotel to discuss the eve further over a glass or two of red wine instead. The views expressed were all positive!06/04/2013 00:00:00Weekend treatWe went to Windsor for the weekend with two other couples and booked the Hinds Head for a treat. We knew we could expect fantastic food but thought it would be a small fortune. However it was well priced for excellent restaurant quality food in a relaxed and informal setting. Every member of staff was exceptional, especially our lovely waitress who was delightful. All of us on table 18 were very impressed!06/04/2013 00:00:00Outstanding food, comfortable pub!Excellent menu options and quality of ingredients, loved how the staff were extremely welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgable and clearly passionate about the food. Great to try inventive twists on classic dishes - quality was outstanding throughout. Great for a special occasion!06/04/2013 00:00:00Great food as always - excellentGreat food as always - excellent service and the cosy atmosphere as expected. The only negative was the heating - too hot and also took far too long to get served at the bar not enough staff but great food and an excellent evening.05/04/2013 00:00:00Hinds Head ExperienceWe dined in the restaurant last Thursday and I have to say what a wonderful evening we all had, we were on holiday and this made our holiday even more special. The restaurant is very well organised, punctual, friendly and staff were very well informed regarding the food. I would highly recommend the restaurant for all occasions and I will be returning again.....04/04/2013 00:00:00Consistently excellent foodConsistently excellent food and comfortable atmosphere. Staff are friendly and knowledgable.
The scotch egg and the pâté are incredibly good.
Excellent service and attention to detail.03/04/2013 00:00:00Another excellent experienceThis was to celebrate a major birthday with some friends - were given a lovely table in a side alcove, waiter had precisely the right balance of friendly efficiency, and food and wine were up to the usual excellent standard03/04/2013 00:00:00Easter weekend in WindsorWe booked the Hinds Head for Sunday lunch, while staying in Windsor for the Easter Weekend. This restaraunt did not disappoint, my wife was concerned that the menus would have Hestons weird creations, but it was all traditional. Each course was superb, with good choice. The 3 cooked chips, really did live up to the reviews, highly recommend the oxtail and kidney pudding, rich with a light pudding.
The staff were helpful and attentive, without being obtrusive.
We will definitely return.31/03/2013 00:00:00gluten free venueOverall we had a really good evening. Food was very good, service was excellent and price what you would expect to pay. Added to this we had someone who is gluten intolerant in our party and the choice provided for them was exceptional. We had informed them of this beforehand and they had made sure that her needs were very well cateres for. Would dine there agagain and recommend.30/03/2013 00:00:00Wish I was a localGreat pub with excellent food... Definitely the kind of place I would visit again and again. The scotch eggs were amazing!30/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent eveningfantastic food and impressive selection of drinks. Helpful waitress that gave excellent recommendations. Wonderful evening and look forward to hopefully returning one day soon!30/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely all roundLovely surroundings, great atmosphere, elegant service and a fantastic tasty and interesting menu.30/03/2013 00:00:00Just lunch with the missus.Spent a very enjoyable two hours in the Hinds Head over lunch. Had three courses. Lived up to both our expectations. Food was fantastically well flavoured and a good quantity.28/03/2013 00:00:00Great place for them what lunch! If you like amazing food without breaking the bank The Hinds Head is a must. It feels like an occasion without hurting your wallet (unless you drink amazing amounts). Some of the initial contact with the staff was a little frosty but the table service more than made up for it!
I would hight recommend you go and make sure you choose a dish that's been made not just the usual 'steak'. For example the scotch egg is genuis!!28/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely lunch with our little one!We had a fantastic lunch at the Hinds Head recently - we booked for a weekday lunchtime in advance as a bit of a treat as we have not been able to indulge our love of good food much since becoming parents last year! We were a little apprehensive about how child-friendly the pub would be but we had no worries at all - we had help negotiating a passage for our buggy, the facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and willing to pick up the various toys that ended up on the floor! The food was superb - an excellent set lunch menu was available and the choice was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the snail hash and shepherds pie and the service and presentation were superb. We will be back!28/03/2013 00:00:00A fantastic restaurant, withA fantastic restaurant, with top-class food at affordable prices (for a special treat).27/03/2013 00:00:00Great LunchI have been to the Hinds Head twice recently, my daughter took me there to celebrate Mothering Sunday, and I recently took a friend to celebrate her 60th Birthday. On both occasions we were greeted and fed and watered to a very high standard. My friend is now a convert and is going to take her husband along for a meal. The only critcism I can make, is that it would have been nice to have had coffee after the meal in a lounge area, or the bar, where there are more comfortable chairs. But, that did not detract from the dining experience which was great and I am sure I will go back again.26/03/2013 00:00:00Anniversary lunchThis must be one of the best lunches we've eaten together. The food was exceptionally good with wonderful flavours and presentation. The goats cheese and beetroot starter was a good choice and we both enjoyed the Cornish cod as a main with salsify - a new vegetable for us - and the irresistible chips. I tried quaking pudding for its quaint name and liked its delicate flavour but would probably order the "wassailing" caramelised butter loaf next time - I was allowed a little taste from my husband's plate.
Service was excellent. The waiters answered all our questions about the food and its preparation, very pleasantly.25/03/2013 00:00:00The place to goWe have often popped into bar side of the Hinds Head when travelling home from London. Much nicer to stop there for a drink and a leg stretch than the motorway services.
Had our first business meal there this week.
Food is great.
Staff are great.
Atmosphere is great.
We will be eating here often now. Both at work and pleasure times.
Highly recommend to anyone who likes great food, service and atmosphere.
Thank you and see you soon.

Laurence25/03/2013 00:00:00The Hinds HeadA smile from every member of staff, the food was beyond delightful! Would and have happily recommended this place to anyone.24/03/2013 00:00:00Fantastic mealHad early dinner for four at the Hinds Head, waiter was very friendly and relaxed ambience good. Scotch eggs, chicken parfait all excellent starters, great drinks and was not rushed to get out. Outstanding cooking23/03/2013 00:00:00Menu is small but very highMenu is small but very high quality. Starters are especially good. Service is certainly as good as you would find in most top restaurants. Very well trained staff provide an environment that is low on formality without any loss of quality.21/03/2013 00:00:00Heston's. PubYou would never guess that this was HIS pub, if you drove past but once you're in there, you can see it's his, the service was lovely, the pub was well looked after. We had the scotch eggs to start with and they were delightful, I then had the oxtail and kidney pudding with broccoli and roasted almonds for the main course, my wife had the lemon sole with the triple cooked chips (my favourite) and then came the desserts, this is where the man came into his own. I had a rhubarb trifle and my wife had chocolate wine slush with millionaire shortbread, taste buds galore. £100 in total for 2 x 3 course meals including drinks and tips, well recommended20/03/2013 00:00:00Will definitely returnFood was generally very good. I just found the mackerel starter tasted as though it had too much vinegar on it. The aviator cocktail was quite sour- I liked the concept and history to this but not sure I would order it again. Overall a great cosy buzzing venue where service is exceptional and the food was very good.16/03/2013 00:00:00Hind's Head LunchOutstanding food and very good service. Can't ask for much more!16/03/2013 00:00:00
