Diner Reviews
  • "We were warmly welcomed by the landlady and our request for a quiet table was accommodated. The food was really good, buzzy atmosphere and great service. Great location (not far from M40). Thank you!"

  • "Having eaten here before I was not surprised the food was good althoight the portion of roast beef was small but sadly the service was slow as the restaurant was busy for Sunday lunch. We waited over 20 minutes for a drink and staff saying ' sorry for the wait' each time was not enough. And sadly we had a large family party near us which was noisy so the ambience was not altogether pleasant. I am sure I will go again but for a weekday lunch when it's quieter."

  • "We went to The Granville to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary, and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and there was a buzz about the place which we liked . The staff were very friendly and we would not hesitate to visit for another excellent meal ."

  • "Booked a table for 7 at 1:30 p.m. The restaurant was very crowded, and there was no parking close by. Meal didn't start to come until 2:30 p.m. Friends had to drive down to Dover, so were anxious that the food took so long. Food was great when it did arrive. Waitress offered to let us have free sweet course in view of the delay. I think the restaurant needs to ensure that they don't book too many meals at the same time. Obviously the kitchen couldn't cope with so many people in the restaurant all eating at the same time."

  • "It was delicious and we sat out in the garden - first sun for a long time."

  • "A great meal, really enjoyed ourselves. Friendly but not overbearing service, lovely food, very good value. One of the other tables was a bit noisy, but that's certainly not The Granville's fault."

  • "Very convenient midlands meeting place, near M40. Welcoming staff and good food and wine."

  • "I have visited the Granville on several occasions in the last six months. Food always good and excellent value. Service has varied between very, very good indeed and only OK. Two little things in particular come to mind. The restaurant seems to assume nobody will want butter with anything. Hence, when you request it, you are treated to a frozen block of butter in miniscule portions. You could sit for 15 minutes whilst your soup goes cold. If someone asks would you like any sauces, condiments etc., with your hot meal just delivered, you would like to think they will act on your answer immediately. Five minutes sat with a hot meal awaiting vinegar for your chips is unacceptable."

  • "Visiting area for a weekend and booked this online after viewing their website. Was not disappointed, proper pub with eating area that was way above expectations, beautiful setting and food excellent. Would definitely go again when in the area."

  • "We ate between Christmas and New Year which may not be representative, but the service was quite slow (the drinks didn't arrive until after the food, and only because we asked for them) and there wasn't much atmosphere (there was only one other table). On the positive side, we had the burgers which were very tasty and large."

  • "We used the Granville as a central meeting point for family members travelling from Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Hampshire, I had pre booked a table for six of us, even though I was delayed due to traffic the Granville held the table until my arrival some 30 mins late. The staff were excellent, we had a very enjoyable meal in a very relaxing atmosphere."

  • "Really happy with our meal. We needed to meet relatives half way between Winchester & Manchester, fell upon The Granville. So happy, we will use this pub again & again I am sure. I would recommend it to others."

  • "We had a lovely lunch for 5 of us, I had the guinness and steak pie and the beef was really nice and tender, and a good size. Staff were pleasant and friendly in a nice relaxed atmosphere and we will be going back."

  • "Warwick is halfway between my sister in Surrey and myself in Cheshire, also convenient for my daughter in Leics, so we like to meet up there just before Christmas. We had been disappointed with the previous place we used, so I chose the Granville from the internet and certainly struck lucky. We were very pleased with the meal and the room and the service was excellent. We shall be back next December!"

  • "A lovely open fire greeted me on arrival, which was just what I wanted on a grey and cold Sunday lunchtime. I got a warm welcome and was served coffee by the fire very quickly, while I waited for my friend. The menu was quite short but good and I chose a roast chicken breast and my friend chose a veggie risotto. Both were excellent and at £15 for two courses, we felt we had got good value for money. I had the chocolate brownie for pudding and it was delicious as well as just the right portion size - I hate being overfaced by enormous plates of food. We will definitely be back - it's good value, warm and comfortable without being chintzy and the service was also very good."

  • "Have eaten at the restaurant many times over the past 20 years. Always good food and friendly attitude. Ideal to meet up with friends from Nottingham and Lincoln with easy access to M40 etc."

  • "4 of us came down from Nottingham for a weekend away and found The Granville via the internet. Happily surprised at the whole experience!!!!! Will certainly be going back......"

  • "Staff were friendly and helpful and service was efficient (not too slow nor too fast). Good wine list, including English wines, and available in 125ml measures, which is good when you are driving. The food was well cooked and good flavours and the right amount. The meat was tender and the vegetables crunchy as they should be. The dessert was delicious too. Only disappointment was that they didn't have decaffeinated espresso, although they said they had decaff latte. I didn't understand if they had decaff coffee how they couldn't make an espresso with it. All in all, a nice venue for a Sunday lunch."
    dined on 17/11/2013
  • "Its a nice place...but they seemed to keep on forgetting about us,. It wasn't at all busy, but a 2 course lunch still took over two hours. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry. The good was OK, but definitely on the pricey side for what it was."
    dined on 02/11/2013
  • "My partner and I saw the positive reviews of The Granville and since we were staying locally, we booked. Our meal was excellent, served efficiently and by very friendly staff. The menu was good and all the choices we made were very much to our taste. In fact, we decided to re-visit the restaurant the following day."

  • "Food-focused pub that makes a nice change to restaurants in Warwick - a good menu done well, a nice setting and service is friendly if a bit slow when they are busy."

  • "We took friends for a 75th Birthday celebration surprise, they had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. We look forward to going again."

  • "We spotted the Granville as we were out for a walk. We thought we would try it but it was only half an hour until we wanted to eat. We booked using top table, and it was great."

  • "We took my parents to the Granville @ Barford for Sunday lunch on the Bank Holiday weekend. They are both in their late 80s and my father in particular is very slow to move and quite disabled in walking. The friendly and attentive service we received from all staff was absolutely outstanding. They were smiley, extremely patient and very considerate in dealing with elderly guests. The food was delicious - variously we had roast beef, roast pork with crackling and hake - all cooked to perfection and particularly the vegetables. The dining room is spacious and attractive - exposed brick and beams, and opens out to a delightful outdoor seating area. Top marks!"

  • "We have never been let down when dining here. This was the first time we had brought our 9 month old grandson with us. High chair was ready and waiting at the table. The waitress left sufficient time for parents to go and change baby between courses. Soup was fantastic, and the chicken and roast beef meals were well enjoyed. Every thing served hot and fresh."
    dined on 11/08/2013
  • "It was a very hot day and most drinkers were outside in the garden, the restaurant was completely empty apart from my group of 8 people. We were shown a bar type table in the empty bar area- which implied that the staff didnt want to open the restaurant side of the bar.......this was totally unacceptable to me. When I asked for a new "real" table, this was made available and we had an enjoyable diuning experience with good food and good value for money. The initial table assisgnment however put me off completely...........bad start / good end."

  • "Family lunch for 12 at The Granville last Sunday was fabulous. The weather was gorgeous and they had set out a lovely table in the garden under the canopy. Lunch was very good, staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this for an outside lunch on a nice day. We didn't go inside much but it all looked nice."
    dined on 14/07/2013
  • "It was our first visit to this part of Warwickshire and our meal was a first class experience (10 out of 10) to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, it was the hottest day of the year and we could have done with a couple of additional large fans in the dining room to cool it down. However, as our eldest son had chosen the hotel for the meal we gave him 10 out of 10 as well!. Many thanks, Bill"

  • "Visited The Granville with friends, one of whom is partially deaf. The landlady gave us a quiet corner (as previously requested) and made sure the the speaker above our table was turned off. This was exceptionally helpful. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was delicious all round. Will definitely return."
    dined on 28/06/2013
  • "Greeted warmly shown to our table, drinks ordered. We then viewed the menus al a carte or two/ three set menu. Our choices made and drinks received we chatted uninterrupted whilst waiting for our starters. Main course then pudding for those who had room and coffees. Thoroughly enjoyable meal and would definitely visit again."

  • "Barford does what it says good place to meet friendly staff, good service, food OK not fantastic"

  • "After reading many positive reviews (and noting its awards), I was rather disappointed with my experience at the Granville. We arrived for Sunday lunch to be told - 'set menu options only'. Unfortunately there was only one vegetarian option and the meat options weren't particularly inspiring. The service was quite lacklustre and we felt more of an inconvenience than anything. I have to say, there are many good gastro-pubs in the locality - The Granville has the potential but still some way to go."
    dined on 05/05/2013
  • "The Granville was unable to meet our booking request of a table in the bar so unfortunately we were seated in a spot-lit corner of the main room, 2pm on a moderately busy Saturday lunchtime. A first choice sandwich had already sold out so we both chose the £6.26 crayfish sandwich instead and it came with little by way of garnish (unless we paid extra for a £3.50 bowl of chips). Mine was the smallest portion I've seen for a long time. It is not the Granville's fault that the man at a neighbouring table had a very loud voice and a phlegm habit to put off even the hardiest of customers. We ate and left, probably never to return. I must add that 2 previous visits had been much better, clearly before portion control got a stranglehold grip."
    dined on 27/04/2013
  • "The restaurant had a party in and we were eating in the bar. No-one took any notice of us and we waited almost an hour to be served. We did get a bottle of complementary wine for the wait. We ordered 3 steaks - 1 medium and 2 rare. 2 medium came and we sent one back. Another 20 minute wait. 1 of these steaks was small, tough and full of fat and gristle, That went back. Couldn't face another wait so went hungry. It will be a long time before we come back again - if ever"

Very cosy little pub with good parking facilities and the good was amazing. A great meal and a lovely day was had by all thanks to good staff who provided the excellent service. Thanks"
