The Gilbert ScottGame on!I had lunch wi th a friend at the Gilbert Scott. The building itself is magnificent and the hotel have done so much to make it look beautiful. We enjoyed our meal - service was very attentive. We chose the St Pancras Express menu and had mackerel pate and pork rillettes to start with both of which we enjoyed. We then chose Pigeon in a pot - pigeon cooked in an onion and pork lardon sauce in a yorkshire pudding. It was too much for both of us and we had to stop some way through. I also find that as someone who tries to stick to a low-salt diet to keep healthy that the pigeon made me very thirsty for a while afterwards - probably the gravy! We both had dessert - sticky toffee pudding and panna cotta both of which we agreed we were lovely.26/04/2013 00:00:00Consistently goodMy 4th visit and as good asall the others. It's a lovely venue with an unpretentious menu well cooked.24/04/2013 00:00:00My fav for brunchSecond time brunch for me at the Gilbert Scott & it did not disappoint. Slightly concerned I may be forming an addiction to the crab benedict!21/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent service, food andExcellent service, food and drink! Beautiful restaurant.09/04/2013 00:00:00Great venue, excellent serviceGreat venue, excellent service a good menu and good wines. Shame it's a bit noisy, but that goes with the wonderful victorian venue21/03/2013 00:00:00Fine dining at it's bestHad a delicious meal for two on Sunday and I can't fault a thing. We started off in the bar for a few cocktails first then entered the grand dining room where the feast began. We had starters of oysters and crab which were just perfect then the monster main followed of rib of beef for two with bone marrow. I have never tasted meat like it, it was absolutely out of this world, cooked rare with a charcoal outer layer, it just melted in the moth. It was accompanied by the bone marrow and one of the huge ribs which were both gorgeous as well. By this stage we were pretty stuffed so settled for Armagnac and Cognac for dessert. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and courteous and really made us feel at home. Just perfect!03/03/2013 00:00:00Enjoyed my visitThe menu offers great variety and is served by knowlegeable and helpful staff.01/03/2013 00:00:00Second visitThe waiter recognised me as making my second visit here inside a month, and brought me a free small pudding... now that is fantastic service. Prior to this the snails and bone marrow starter was a sensation!!23/02/2013 00:00:00I took my partner for lunchI took my partner for lunch to celebrate his birthday, repeating the lunch he had treated me to there some six months earlier. As before, we were both very satisfied by the whole dining experience, and have been singing the praises of the Gilbert scott to friends and family.04/02/2013 00:00:00Stunning venueWhat a wonderful expereince to dine, just before catching the sleeper to Scotland. Great venue, superb service and wine list. Walnut mash and pigs head were highly recommended.03/02/2013 00:00:00Beautiful room, lovely foodSet in my favourite building in London, the room is a great place to eat. I got a lovely corner booth. The food is delicious and well presented, with terrific service. Wines are a bit steep in price though, with very little under £40.02/02/2013 00:00:00What happenned to the food!Every thing excellent but food somewhat underwhelming considering the price.23/01/2013 16:00:00EXCELLENTFantasric food, secound vist looking forward to third14/12/2012 16:00:00My second visit to GilbertMy second visit to Gilbert Scott's which, I suppose, sums up the experience! Service on the second visit was unacceptably slow for which no apology was provided. However, the food was excellent and the wine list extensive and therefore will not deter me from another visit.12/12/2012 16:00:00Great place, but food too expensiveThe place is simply amazing to look at. The service is faultless - very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Food and drink was exceptional. The only downside was the price - everything was overpriced, even for a special event. I would go back if i really wanted to impress someone.01/12/2012 00:00:00delicious foodWe chose the three-course express meal option at the Gilbert Scott and were impressed not only by the quality of the food, but also by the fact that we were not rushed and were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the refurbished St Pancras Hotel. The choices for the set meal were restricted, but suited us well. The mushroom soup was excellent, as was the pâte, the trout with capers was subtly flavoured and accompanied by plenty of greens, and the lemon posset very good. There is a cover charge and the glasses of wine are not cheap, but the Chateau Musar was excellent, and we did enjoy the bread and bonbons included in the cover charge. Very attentive service too, and we both left very happy.12/11/2012 00:00:00Gorgeous settingHad dinner at GS what a lovely experience! The building is beautiful. The food was very good. The rib of beef for 2 was excellent. Definitely recommend. Will return for drinks & maybe afternoon tea in the bar.03/11/2012 00:00:00The Gilbert Scott, Kings CrossSuperb venue for a business lunch, away from the bustle of Kings Cross and St Pancras stations.
