About The Garden Restaurant
Situated within Eastbourne’s landmark Grand Hotel, The Garden Restaurant is a graceful space serving outstanding food on the seafront. High ceilings and oodles of space belie The Garden Restaurant’s sense of intimacy and cosiness, the classically decorated surroundings proving endlessly popular for relaxed romance, family treats and business dinners too. Not only here in the restaurant, but throughout the hotel you’ll experience service of the very highest order, the staff well versed in the ‘customer as king’ theory. But while the seafront setting and extra special service are especially superb, it’s the food served here that visitors really ought to be writing home about. The Garden Restaurant’s chefs focus on the best of British in their menus, sourcing much produce – including fresh fish - in the local rural area and giving old favourites a modern twist throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Garden Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Lovely pre-Christmas lunch
A delicious lunch, as always. Smoked Salmon fishcake, Confit Lamb with potatoes & seasonal vegetables followed by poached pear with salted caramel & oat crisp. Service, ambiance and food exceptional. Restaurant was tastefully decorated for Christmas.
Grand Hotel, Eastbourne
We booked the Garden Restaurant at The Grand Hotel on Friday and found it excellent. The attentive staff, who seemed to visit our table in time to the music, came back and forth, with the water, the wine, the warm bread rolls, the complimentary appetiser from the chef followed by our 3 courses. All the food was delicious though my husband wondered if a fish knife was not the best thing to cut up his broccoli (which was al dente). We took our coffee in the lounge and this was served with chocolatey sweetmeats We watched as the staff rolled up the carpet in syncopation. Maybe we could have stayed for a dance if we did not have a long drive home? Because we had to drive home we had ordered one glass of wine each, but i noticed after we had paid that we had been charged for 3 glasses.
Grand cuisine & good value
Grand cuisine and good value We once again enjoyed an excellent meal here. My wife had smoked duck breast with blood orange jelly, suprême of guinea fowl and coconut panna cotta with pomegranate; I had celeriac and apple soup, grilled bacon chop, and burnt honey parfait with mango (the menu changes weekly). Each dish was expertly prepared and presented and they complemented one another very well. The service was friendly, attentive and respectful and the ambience is spacious and elegant but not stiffly formal. Given the high quality of the cuisine, the bill was remarkably good value - £23 per person for three courses and £17.80 for two large glasses of wine, totalling £63.80 (plus a well-deserved tip). A wholly agreeable experience.
I have eaten in The Garden & Mirabelle restaurants before and The Grand Hotel never fails to deliver quality food at a good price, even if I did not have an Elite card, which entitles you to buy one meal get one free, I would eat there. The food is always fresh & there's a good selection on the menu to satisfy anyone's taste. Looking forward to dining there for my Mum's 70th Birthday, when there will be 9 of us.
Very good lunch - high standard
This is not the first time I have dined at The Garden Restaurant. This time it was for my birthday and three of us were eating. Menu was to the usual high standard and the service and food were typically of the quality we've come to expect of The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne.
Beautiful and elegant
The Grand Hotel is a harkback to another era. The place is beautiful and the service and food were lovely. Retiring to the fireplace for coffee followed by dancing in the lounge, even better!
Grand by name, Grand by nature
The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is one of the finest dining venues in the South East, end of story. I've tried so many restaurants but keep coming back here. The Garden Restaurant is so elegant, and the service is exceptional. Plus, there is a separate vegetarian menu with about five choices of starter and main course. The only restaurants I can think of that better this are vegetarian restaurants. And of course my carniverous companion was delighted with his chicken starter and guinea fowl main. If I could, I would eat here once a week, it's just superb.
and old-fashioned, but charming in its way. Unfortunately the head wiater at first denied having our booking, and then kept us waiting for ages in the bar. The wine list is amazing, though they seemed to have little idea which of their bin ends had ended...
Brilliant service and the
Brilliant service and the food was exquisite. The restaurant is quite formal but still relaxing enough that we could enjoy ourselves and have a romantic evening.

The Garden Restaurant at The
The Garden Restaurant at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is such a lovely venue for lunch or dinner. Last night we enjoyed a three course meal for £38 each, including appetisers and sorbets. The service is always perfect, and the food was delicious. There could have been a little more choice, especially for the main courses ( there were four options) but whatever you choose you are guaranteed a beautiful meal. With wine the bill came to £95 for two, which is good value for food of this quality.
The staff in the Garden Restaurant
The staff in the Garden Restaurant in the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne are very welcoming. The food was delicious as always. The Air Show was in town but the Grand Hotel was an oasis of calm. Thanks once again for a great lunch; try the beef it is delicious! Thank you.
Another return visit to the
Another return visit to the Garden Restaurant at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne. All courses very tasty, however, was somewhat disappointed on this occasion with the vegetables. Roasted new potatoes were hard, chewy baked parsnip and the mangetout were tasteless, the only nice thing was the cauliflower cheese. Service impeccable as usual.
The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne
The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is a fabulous hotel. The staff are all very helpful and the quality of the food in the Garden Restaurant is exemplary. Sunday lunch for a party of 10 was a wonderful experience. The sommelier is extremely knowledgeable.
This restaurant has a good
This restaurant has a good ambience and the food and service are good but the tables are very rickety and unsteady, so much so that we had to be moved to another table. Even that wasn't very good. They had better do something about their tables.

The garden restaurant in the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is well worth a visit. Not only is the food good and exceptional value, the service was swift, attentive and polite. The whole ambience of the place was good, like visiting a film set of a bygone era. We were celebrating a 94th birthday and the staff made our granny truly special. The sunshine helped make it a rather special day.Set lunch menu very good value at £ 21.50 for three very good courses.
I have dined many times at
I have dined many times at this venue over the past four years. The only criticism I can offer is that there is not much change in the menu. It seems to be repeated very often so that f airly regular diners are likely to to be faced with the same menu on consecutive visits. There is no separate a la carte menu. It is possible to pay extra for individual items but the basic set meal price has to be paid whether you order from it or not. I have never come across this in any other restaurant.
A very grand venue, living
A very grand venue, living up to its name of the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne. Your meal will not disappoint, and the staff are attentive, but friendly, too. The wine list is very expensive, though. I would have liked to see half bottles for drivers, as not everyone is a resident.
The Garden Restaurant at the
The Garden Restaurant at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne has very good service in an environment that is up market with a pianist playing music quietly in a corner. We had the set menu (a choice of 4 main courses) and enjoyed the meal very much.
Speny a very pleasant evening
Speny a very pleasant evening here on Saturday having visited the Mirabelle on the previous night. If you require and more cosy restaurant the the Mirabelle should be your choice. however food in both was very good with the Mirabelle having the slight edge
Excellent food and service,
Excellent food and service, though the time between courses was a little long. Staff very attentive. Children a little surprised that the "Gravy" actually had a strong horsereadish element, but meat and plates were replaced with fresh when we commented.
Luncheon in The Garden Restaurant
Luncheon in The Garden Restaurant at The Grand was, once again, a treat. The whole ambience , service, grace and pace of the place is charmimg and hard to find in todays world. The food was to its normal high standard.
LIVED UP TO ITS NAME. GOOD
LIVED UP TO ITS NAME. GOOD SERVICE, GOOD FOOD, GOOD VALUE
We dined in the Garden Restaurant
We dined in the Garden Restaurant of the Grand Hotel Eastbourne on Saturday night. The meal was quite expensive but beautifully cooked and presented. my wife is a vegetarian and found the special menu very acceptable. There was a gentle hubub from other diners and a pianist playing in the background. Much like the hotel this is a genteel and understated experience. We were treated to music from a jazz quartet in the lounge while enjoying our coffee. All in all a very enjoyable evening.
It was a pleasant to find
It was a pleasant to find that the piano was being played "live". The previous Saturday we listened to recorded piano music. The food was excellent as usual.
The Garden Restaurant at the
The Garden Restaurant at the Eastbourne Grand never disappoints. We took my Dad there for his 70th birthday and had a wonderful lunch. The food was excellent and good value and the ambience excellent. Dad loved it. The only disappointment was that service was a little slow and we had to wait a very long time for our main course. Despite being slow, service was excellent however. Would definitely go there again.

The Grand Hotel i would recommend to anyone, the service is outstanding
Excellent food, with a true
Excellent food, with a true old school style service. I took my girlfriend and her mother her for some lunch, and it was a fantastic old England experience. Right down to the silver plate covers, and old decor. The fish was excellent, and the bill was very reasonable. I did feel somewhat underdressed, I think the locals tend to dress up for lunch in jackets etc. Well worth a visit!
As always, a lovely meal at
As always, a lovely meal at the Grand in Eastbourne and such good value. A wonderful place for a special occasion, and they really looked after us at my husband's birthday lunch. The beef carved at the table was magnificent and the portions were plentiful. The waiting staff make it such a joy, being just the right side of friendly without being intrusive. All in all the Grand really lives up to its 5 star status.
The Garden Restaurant at the
The Garden Restaurant at the Grand is pleasingly old-fashioned and 'grand'; meal was generally good - not huge portions but for lunch just fine; we had tasty mains of guinea fowl and sweetcorn risotto, and calf's liver with puree, followed by a delicious vanilla and raspberry creme bruless tartlet. Service was excellent; waitress provided a small extra slice of cheesecake on a dish with 'congratulations' on for my daughter, and everyone was very attentive. Only the canned piano muzak was naff.

My wife and I dined at the Garden Restaurant in The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne on Friday 14th Aug 09, after reading so many glowing reviews. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived everything was wonderful, the staff and the service, with all those little extra's that make you feel special. The place itself is magnificently opulant with decor to match. Then of course, there is the food - each course was a delight (the crepe's are to die for). Will we return? Oh yes.
I took my Mum to the Grand
I took my Mum to the Grand Hotel Eastbourne Garden Restaurant as a treat for her 89th birthday. We received superb service and a delicious 3 course meal with 4 choices for each course. It was stunning - from the valet parking through to the complimentary ice cream with candle & happy birthday for Mum. And, with drinks and service charge, it cost just £20 per head. Absolutely amazing!! We shall certainly be going again.

The Garden Restaurant at theGrand
The Garden Restaurant at theGrand Hotel is a very grand room with very grand but equally friendly service. The set price menu is good value with suppliments for a la carte. A very large wine list with some reasonable prices for a 5 star hotel. We had wanted to go to the Mirabelle, this is closed on Sun & Mon, but we were not dissapointed. A very enjoyable evening only let down by the re-laying of tables for the breakfast service.
