Diner Reviews
  • "We visited The Feathered Nest for a family birthday celebration and it was a great success. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional, a great mix. The food was first class with the Lemon Sole a particular highlight. The view from our table was also excellent and the whole place has a homely feel. Given the prices definitely a place for special occasions but I would strongly recommend it."

  • "We had a fantastic lunch and although we are not big dessert fans we found ourselves arguing who had which dessert, they were absolutely delicious and we both cleared the plates! The food was beautifully presented and we weren't disappointed in the taste. We stayed much longer than we had planned as we were having such a lovely time. We will be back."

  • "Mixed feelings and not really enough space to review properly. Pros: food excellent and very beautifully presented, extensive wine and bin-end lists, knowledgeable and professional staff, beautiful surroundings. Cons: very impersonal feel, definitely not a 'country inn', brutal booking system. We felt it may have got a little big for its boots but perhaps that is the demand in this area. We live in London and were looking specifically for a country pub with exceptional food. This is a London restaurant in the middle of the countryside."

  • "Food was outstanding and lovely location . Service was a bit erratic. If restaurants are seeking to aspire to top end food and prices then more attention to service needs to be given. Eg. Waitress needed to be prompted for coats and was unresponsive when we asked after the children's desserts which we had been waiting a while for."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Only a couple of miles of the main road and well worth the trip. Beautiful location and a very clean and pleasant building. Great service and great food. Will definitely go again."

  • "Superb food and charming service in an outstanding setting."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "My wife visited for Sunday lunch, having already eaten here during the week (and having booked again for the subsequent week). This speaks for itself. We had a superb roast lunch - me with the pork and my wife, the beef. One of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had (saving my wife's cooking of course!). Highly recommended for both food and device."
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "The setting of The Feathered Nest is beautiful - what is amazing is finding such a sophisticated restaurant 'off the beaten track' as it were but still an idyllic location with a wonderful view. There is a superb choice of wines and the food is excellent. Every dish is lovingly thought through and wholly imaginative. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Overall, the whole experience is one to be savoured. I have been before but have never booked through toptable before."

  • "we visit the cotswolds regulary for cheltenham horse racing incl. the festival week in march., we had been recommended the resturantt last year but never got there. after finding the venue with some difficulty we were welcomed in a nice way, we thought the ala carte menue was expensive from the onset but the bar meals seemed good value. the resturant was sparsely full & did not have a jolly atmosphere. as we have eaten in many mitchelin resturants at home & in europe we found this non mitchelin menu highly priced. the staff were very good but one of the proprieters did not introduce themselves, which we found unfriendly. what a shame after looking forward to the feathered nest for sometime, we felt the lack of clients tells a story."

  • "made to feel very welcome by mine host who showed us to a table by the window and wow the views were incredible. What a spot! Offered drinks while we decided from a varied menu. Incredible wine list but we had house wine and it was good. Lovely food, well presented, good flavours and plenty. Recommend octopus starter and we both had roast pork which was succulent and the best roast potatoes I have ever had. Lovely grounds and great little village. Would definitely go again."

  • "My family and I had a wonderful evening at The Feathered Nest celebrating our daughter's birthday. The welcome was warm and friendly, everyone was helpful, we had great advice on the wine and twice waitresses offered to take a photo for us. The food was absolutely delicious! We would highly recommend The Feathered Nest."

  • "Beautiful pub with beautiful views over the Evenlode Valley. But what makes it special is the truly awesome food. Some of the dishes wouldn't be out of place at the top end of London's restaurant scene, with incredible flavours, presentation and colour. Stunning!"

  • "The last meal at the feathered nest was the best ever, this was very close! Our favourite place to dine!"

  • "After hearing rave reports about this restaurant , my husband and I visited with family for a special evening meal ... food had to be sent back. 2nd visit .. was a luncheon with a friend , lunch disappointing.. will not be going back . lacked atmosphere , and food dissapionting"

  • "Without doubt - one of the best restaurants available in Oxfordshire. Fantastic."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "We went for our wedding anniversary _ the day before their winter break. Great service, no sign of them winding down. Food excellent, we compared to several Michelin starred restaurants we have been to. Nice touches for our special occasion - great food served well but with pomp and circumstance - unpretentious..... We have a milestone birthday this year - we will be booking a part of the restaurant for a big family event! Welldone - great standards keep it up."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "came here new years eve for lunch and enjoyed a lovely meal in a pretty country setting"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "I have been here several times for business lunches and decided to take my mum for her birthday. We were welcomed by several friendly faces and enjoyed an excellent lunch. This really is a great place worth the half hour drive for me and I am glad we booked as by the time we left it was very busy - always a good sign !"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "We had lunch with friends and selected the fixed price Christmas menu which turned out to be a great choice. The food was excellent and the service friendly, professional and attentive. The pumpkin soup in particular was outstanding. In addition, the restaurant has a superb view over the wolds which even in winter was very attractive. Definitely a place for special occasions though unless you have deep pockets as it is rather pricey. In summary a really lovely high quality meal at a excellent location, we will return. ."
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "Amazing meal and attention to detail with both the service and the food. An amazing building and fit out, well worth the distance to get there, and worth the money for quality of food, and correct portion sizes! Will definately visit again!"
    dined on 10/12/2013
  • "We went for lunch and found the food to be extremely good, it was fresh, nicely presented and very tasty - however, the service was terrible - we waited forty five minutes for the food to arrive - this is a pub, serving pub food (we were not in the restaurant area & the whole place was not even half full) - the waiting staff were slow & forgetful & one member in particular was extremely rude and surly (a french lady). The pub itself is oozing with charm with a lovely big open fire to one end but I'm afraid the staff totally let this place down, they are in the middle of a lovely hamlet in the cotswolds - not in the middle of Paris. Smiling happy helpful staff required - everyone is too serious!"
    dined on 07/12/2013
  • "We thought the Feathered Nest was so good that we have booked the entire place for our anniversary. Well worth a visit for lunch, dinner or for that something special moment that needs to be shared between two or a group of twenty."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "My man and both really enjoyed a romantic evening at the Feathered Nest last week. We were looking for somewhere special to have dinner and we were not disappointed. It was a cold dark November evening so it was lovely to get a nice warm welcome on arrival. The menu was very interesting and fully explained to us as were the wines by the very helpful staff. I was a little disappointed that the grouse is only served pink but that is the chef's prerogative so I changed to the veal which was delicious. We had a lovely evening and especially enjoyed talking to your delightful French sommelier. We will return very soon."
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "It was worth the 1 and a half hours travelling each way to take friends for a really lovely Sunday Lunch. We had been before so knew what to expect but they hadn't and thought it was magnificent. Thank you"
    dined on 24/11/2013
  • "Each course for all 4 of us was excellent in terms of presentation and taste. Really lovely"
    dined on 22/11/2013
  • "Second visit,, first was sunday lunch, very relaxing and enjoyable, stunning views, second visit dinner with family friend, a bit quiet not quite so much atmosphere but still very good. Will be returning soon"
    dined on 19/11/2013
  • "Without doubt one of the best places to eat in the Cotswolds - the chef is really taking the feathered best somewhere, and with great service and relaxed atmosphere I'm sure they'll get there. Fantastic and very much worth the visit."
    dined on 09/11/2013
  • "We had a truly outstanding dinner for 4, albeit a tad on the pricey side for a 'pub' in the Cotswolds. This is gastro pub fine dining at its best."
    dined on 26/10/2013
  • "The problem for the Nest is it started with very high quality food, service and ambience. We have not been for a while having been distracted by other venues, budgets and life. We were really surprised that the fantastic management team have managed to raise the standard of food and service! I also have to add that they have distanced themselves from other big name venues in the area, this is quite a result considering where they started! Brilliant and thank you for a wonderful experience."
    dined on 20/10/2013
  • "Excellent experience, great food and service, we will be back."
    dined on 19/10/2013
  • "We've lived in the Cotswolds now for three years and have tried a new restaurant practically every month and The Feathered Nest is the only one that we have returned to three times. Don't get me wrong, there are bunches of great places to eat around here more than once but we just love this restaurant, it's nothing short of exceptional."
    dined on 12/10/2013
  • "The Feathered Nest provides the complete package, wonderful location, amazing food and attentive service. Well worth its three AA rosettes."
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "The Feathered Nest was a great venue in a lovely rural location. Although we arrived late (due to Oxford traffic), near the end of the Sunday lunch 'window', the restaurant were very accommodating and we did not feel at all rushed. The roast beef was particularly delicious, cooked to mouth-watering perfection."
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "Without doubt finest Country Pub/Inn meal eaten in many a year. Inn is extremely welcoming with all restaurant areas being comfortable/beautifully decorated. Food of the highest standard being sourced locally where possible. Menu options superb. Staff attentive polite and very helpful. Owners constantly present without being obtrusive caring passionately for comfort/well being of customers. Magnificent setting;delightful dining experience. Inn was ranked 9th in recent Sunday Times review of Posh Pubs. Having been to many of those ranked higher I believe the Inn's ranking is unfair. To my mind it should be ranked #2, if not #1 (I have not been to the premier ranked established). All in all - 10 out of 10. Faultless. Alan D Collins"

  • "Everything about our visit for Saturday lunch was excellent. The immediate impression on arrival was of a charming and well cared for building set in superb country with a splendid view. This was followed by a warm and friendly welcome. There was something on the menu to please all of my party, then the food itself was truly excellent and beautifully presented. Clean loos, courteous service, even really nice coffee (often a weakness after a good meal). We were all very favourably impressed. Not the cheapest place I have been too but, as one of my companions said! you have to pay for quality. And this was quality."
    dined on 28/09/2013
  • "Following a couple of visits for business dinners when I was very impressed with the quality of food and service, I booked lunch at The Feathered Nest to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were not disappointed - we were looked after extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and wine. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her birthday day out, involving a 180 mile round trip"
    dined on 18/09/2013
  • "Set in a pretty Cotswold village the restaurant has been superbly created. Good bar area and well set out dining areas. Food was very good with the usual overpriced wine list. Service was very attentive."
    dined on 15/09/2013
  • "There is not exactly a lack of outstanding country inns in the Cotswolds, but having tried far too many, the Feathered Nest would certainly be in my top 10. The setting is beautiful. Located on the edge of the the tranquil hamlet of Nether Westcote, the inn looks out (a top a ridge) over a landscape of rolling farms. The menu is traditionally British (wedge of pork pie, board of cured meats, battered haddock & chips) and quasi higher end gastro pub (chilled garden lovage, nose to tail pie and rump baked in hay). To keep you guessing there are subtleties and variations throughout. Overall the presentation is very good, service a little mixed, but the food and setting are winners."
    dined on 05/09/2013
  • "Upon arrival we were greeted very politely and with a smile. We were seated by another member of staff who was also very friendly."
