The DelaunaySUNDAY ROAST ALMOST AS GOOD AS MINETook my husband for his birthday on Sunday for lunch. Pleasantly surprised having not heard of it before and we like fine dining restaurants, but it was clearly an oversight on our part. It had a lovely atmosphere, very busy and buzzy, yet still felt unrushed and service was most attentive. My husband is always reluctant to eat out for roasts on Sundays, as I invariably do a good job apparently! But even Mr. Fussypants, had to agree, this one was good! Nice rare beef, tender and accompanied well. Very nice ambiance and we'll definately return when I'm due a break from cooking!!12/05/2013 00:00:00breakfast at the delauneyI decided to try this place out as it is well renowned for its breakfast offering. The quality of the food was indeed excellent, service very attentive and professional (though I'm one of those that thinks that having your plate cleared when you are still finishing your last mouthful is a little too keen), plenty of choice on the menu, and they also do a great pot of coffee. I would definitely come here again.12/05/2013 00:00:00excellenta very good evening in The Delaunay with super food and excellent service. I can highly recommend the Coupe 'Tyrol' as a dessert!10/05/2013 00:00:00The Delaunay RevisitedOnce again a scrumptious evening (post theatre) with an electric ambience, gorgeous food (as always I highly recommend the beef stroganoff; yummy!) and an improved wine list. The staff as always are friendly, smart and not too obtrusive (they now have the balance just right) and the overall experience was great.
I would ...and often do recommend this restaurant to friends and it is pretty much our joint favourite place to eat in London.
Well done Delaunay!10/05/2013 00:00:00Perfect serviceThere were, apparently, some problems in the kitchen the evening we dined. This caused a rather long delay in getting our pre-theatre dinner - fellow pre-theatre diners can relate to how annoying this can be. However, The Delaunay dealt with the situation with such aplomb, such wonderful professionalism, that everything was alright in the end. And, most importantly, at least two guests will return again soon!10/05/2013 00:00:00Perfect for Business MeetingA colleague and I took a client here for a business meeting over breakfast. The breakfat menu is extensive and whilst not cheap, the dishes are of a very good quality. This is a great place for business meetings and I enjoy it more than its sister restaurant the Worlsey. I would highly recommend for business meetings (the tables are set far enough apart for some privacy and it has a great buzzy atmosphere) as well as special occasions.09/05/2013 00:00:00lovely food in elegant decorlike the Wolseley, a feeling of a modern/retro french brasserie . great food, nice feel , excellent service06/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent value for moneyReally good food.
The service is really good but we had to ask for bread, it missed a little bit of pay of attention.05/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent ValueThis light and spacious restaurant is excellent value. I have been there for breakfast, brunch and afternoon tea and the atmosphere is delightfully different on each occasion. But it is always lively and the service is very good.05/05/2013 00:00:00A real gem. Would def. return.A real gem. Would def. return. Not rushed. Excellent smart professional service. Superb food. You won't be disappointed.04/05/2013 00:00:00Great atmosphereI always have a good time at the Delaunay, the service and food are great, and it's a fun atmosphere where you can chat and laugh without worrying about being overheard or scowled at because everyone else is doing the same. Not the place to go if you are after a quiet meal but a great choice for friends or business meals as the menu is varied and most people would if d something they'd like.28/04/2013 00:00:00Just love itEvery time we go it is fantastic. Great atmosphere, great service, great food.24/04/2013 00:00:00Perfect Early LunchVisited with a friend for an early lunch. Arrived at 1145 and was made very welcome and offered a newspaper while I waited. Charming, friendly staff. Restaurant soon filled up. The food was very good and the ambience excellent. It felt busy and vibrant without being noisy. I would like to try it for dinner.23/04/2013 00:00:00Spolied for choice! The only problem with brunch at the Delaunay is deciding what to order! Breakfast, brunch and lunch are all covered, in any combination. And the food is great! Service is professional and there's a brilliantly buzzy atmosphere. We will return!21/04/2013 00:00:00Simply a superb eveningWe really enjoyed cocktails at the bar before dinner and then excellent service in a lovely atmosphere. The food was well up to our expectations and we will return for sure.20/04/2013 00:00:00Delicious DelauanyWe had a wonderful lunch at The Delaunay this Saturday, treating my grandparents. The atmosphere and food was fantastic especially if you are a fan of the Bravarian Sausages/Schnitzels. If you love The Wolseley I think you will also love The Delaunay!20/04/2013 00:00:00Great experienceDelauney is a serious restuarant at reasonable
Second visit and both have been very good18/04/2013 00:00:00Yummy breakfastHad a delicious breakast there on a Monday morning, the service was super-fast (almost too fast!!) but everything: eggs, croissant, juice and coffee where fresh and delicous.15/04/2013 00:00:00As good as it gets? The Delaunay is ideal for our family meet in London for Sunday lunch, simply the best beef roast in town!. Excellent value, attentive service and a great atmosphere. The highlight of our London weekend.14/04/2013 00:00:00Had a very good night at DelaunayHad a very good night at Delaunay on Sunday. Lovely restaurant in a great setting. food was very good, service was excellent and ambinace was lively and not intrusive. Pricing is a little high for the food selection but food was good and very enjoyable.14/04/2013 00:00:00viennese finerywe were a table of 5 and had a splendid meal on a Friday night. the atmosphere is fantastic and super continental in feel - full of heavy wood and tinkling chandeliers. some people were even dressed in full evening garb. most of us ate 'austrian' - wieners, schnitzel, sauerkraut, linzer torte and guglhupfs abound. really good food - although one of our 'cordon bleu' schnitzels came without the cheese and was a bit dried out! Amazing value at £57 per head with prosecco, biers, a brouilly and dessert wines plus main and pudding and service included. Service was sometimes a little elusive given the sheer buzz of the dining room but overall a great evening.12/04/2013 00:00:00ClassyHaving dined at the Wolsey I was expecting more of the same from the Delaunay, i was right and wrong, i did get more of the same but much more, the ambiance of the Delaunay is excellent, the food is amazing and the service very good, the service would be an excellent but the restaurant was completely full and the staff extremely busy, it was still very good though.
My only criticism would be the climate control, it was so warm in there that i could have easily dropped off during dessert, turn the cooler on please!10/04/2013 00:00:00Nice surpriseWasn't quite sure what to expect, but it was very buzzy, with a wide selection and very attentive service. Really fitted the bill10/04/2013 00:00:00What a find!I am usually somewhat critical of London restaurants as they often fail to deliver the service and product promise and are somewhat (for an out of towner) over priced. What a delightful find therefore was the Delaunay. We booked for an evening meal and so impressed were we that we returned for breakfast the following morning and again for a post theatre supper the following evening.
The ambience is busy without being too loud. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. The food is wholesome, well cooked and served in timely fashion.
Well done to the staff and congratulations to the managers/owners on a job well done - please keep it up as we sgall be back when we next visit London.10/04/2013 00:00:00A special experienceThe restaurant is glamourous and has a great atmosphere without being stuffy or pretentious. Service was perfectly pitched too, premempting what we needed every time. The huge and varied menu was excellent in every dish we tried and the wine list is well balanced too. This is a real treat, suitable for everything from a first date to a business meal, and the bill was fair too.09/04/2013 00:00:00Sunday Lunch at The DelaunayWe've been to The Delaunay several times now. For coffee and cake and for dinner. But this was the first time for Sunday lunch. Sunday is the day that Roast Rib of Beef and Yorkshire pudding is on the menu. Superbly cooked. Delicious. As was the Banana Split that followed. I can't fault The Delaunay. The food is European in the widest sense of the word, a varied and tasty menu with the addition of daily specials, all served in a warm and atmospheric venue. Whether you go for coffee and cake, Wiener and Schnitzels or a three-course dinner, you will not be disappointed.07/04/2013 00:00:00A special placeMy husband and I went on Sunday for an early dinner, the service was impeccable and the food divine. I would certainly recommend it to a friend and I look forward to returning.07/04/2013 00:00:00We took our grand daughterWe took our grand daughter here after visit to the Royal Opera House, late Christmas present! From the moment we walked in until we left, all the staff were so friendly and always smiling. Our favourite restaurant with delicious food.06/04/2013 00:00:00I've been looking for a replacementI've been looking for a replacement to my usual brunch venue, Automat and I think I have found it at The Delaunay.I went for brunch and had one of the best Eggs Benedict on top of a bun with the perfect soft to crusty ratio.
It was even offerred as a small or large serving. In business terms this is a great way to charge extra but for the 'dieting foodie' that I am it was well received. Good buzzing atmosphere for a saturday late morning. Highly recommend this place for somewhere smart, not pretenious, great service and good food.06/04/2013 00:00:00Pre-Theatre MealReception, Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Will definitely come back.04/04/2013 00:00:00The Delauanay is one of ourThe Delauanay is one of our favorite restaurants in London- and one we try to visit every time we are in the city. Their breakfasts are scrumptious- especially the pancakes with blueberries and creme fraiche- a decadent and delicious way to start the day31/03/2013 00:00:00No major faults found!Read some mixed reviews before going so expected the worse of them. The food may not be modern or exciting but what they offer they did exceptionally well. Went for a Sunday roast and it was perfect. The only thing we found wrong with the place are the paintings hanging on the wall, it looks like a child painted them. Recommend you go, enjoy the simple food perfectly cooked in a beautifully styled room with fantastic attentive service and have a giggle at the art work! 5* all round except for value 4* but we didn’t go for value and its rather subjective so actually 5* for value – it’s just not cheap!31/03/2013 00:00:00Relaxed place to breakfastBeautiful grand cafe, the perfect location for weekend breakfast treat. I booked a table to meet a friend for breakfast when passing through London. On arrival the service was excellent, we were taken straight to our table and given enough time to order but not left waiting to long. Food and drink arrived promptly and was really good. The atmosphere was so relaxed and meant me and my friend could enjoy a social, easy going breakfast without being harassed by staff. Very good cafe, will definitely return!30/03/2013 00:00:00defantastic delaunayme and my good lady had an incredible and memmorable evening at the delaunay...the food was a bit special..cant
wait to go back.30/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent DelauanyLovely brunch menu, service was top notch and food was as expected from an establishment like this. Celeb hangout from time to time and always seems to be buzzing here29/03/2013 00:00:00Best in town!We took a friend for her birthday and it was such a special occassion. Not only great food but the ambiance, decor and style of the venue made it utterly wonderful! Thank you, we will most definitely be back!29/03/2013 00:00:00Perfect for birthday breakfastI treated my parents to breakfast during a trip to London and the Delaunay proved to be the perfect spot. The decor is quite special with its tiled floors and wooden paneling - a real brasserie feel. On the Wednesday morning in question there was a real mix of business and leisure customers and the place had a real buzz about it. Although pricey compared to cafes and coffee shops, especially for drinks, this was perfect for a special occasion and there was a good range of price tags and an excellent choice of food and drink. When they were out of the mini pastry selection that we had ordered, we were given a number of full-sized products in its place at no additional cost which is great service.27/03/2013 00:00:00Brilliant eveningI emailed the Delaunay beforehand, asking for a really nice table, as it was for a special birthday celebration. They not only gave us one of the best tables in the house, they remembered that it was a special occasion when we arrived and, unasked, added a special birthday message to our dessert. The food was great, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. A great place to go and celebrate!26/03/2013 00:00:00Went there for Sunday Lunch.Went there for Sunday Lunch. All the food was high quality as was the service. It has a busy Brasserie air with Austrian / mid European menu; varied and good. Not cheap but would definitely go back and reccommend24/03/2013 00:00:00Splendid EveningWe always make the Delaunay a must whenever we visit London. Well prepared food served by an attentive, but not intrusive staff. The atmosphere is comfortable and elegant. We look forward to a return visit sometime very soon!24/03/2013 00:00:00I always LOve the DeLaunay.I always LOve the DeLaunay. Great staff, great food and overall a great ambience.
very affordable and great for all occasions24/03/2013 00:00:00Old school glamour birthday brunchFrom the doorman, to the cloakroom, to the maitre de, to the waiting staff, everything about the Delaunay screams glamour (well, not so much screams as whispers, as it's that sort of place). The menu, which features European classics along with some modern additions (new york hot dog anyone?), is well thought out, and perfect for brunch. The buzzy atmosphere and discreet service all add to the sense of occasion. This wasn't our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last.
Just practice your poker face for when the bill arrives!24/03/2013 00:00:00Welcome at The DelaunayWe arrived early due to the awful weather, where we warmly greeted by everyone. From the cloakroom attendant to our waitress. We were given time to browse the menu and question were answered.
Our table was well set out and the ambience was super. Our meal came at the right pace and the wine choice was perfect. The soufflé for two was one of the best we have eaten, you must try it!
Well placed for the theatre and Covent Garden. Our French friends would love it....22/03/2013 00:00:00Amazing atmosphere!I was slightly dubious about this restaurant having read many negative reviews about the quality of the food. I admit that the food is not particularly special BUT the fantastic buzzy atmosphere and great service make it a worthwhile experience in itself. The dining room is a fantastic space with fabulously comfy booths and great acoustics. I was also very impressed with my desert, the Austrian Apple Cake and my partner's pastry. Overall, considering the rather reasonable pricing of the food, I have no doubt I will be returning very soon!22/03/2013 00:00:00Fine location, but very expensiveThe food and service were good, but it's very expensive. Even toast had to be ordered extra, when having an English Breakfast for 15,25.16/03/2013 00:00:00Dinner at the DelaunayA bit too much like the Wolseley, but still great fun. Loved the menu. Atmosphere was great. On criticism would be that the food is a bit basic - it's not culinary excellence...! But a great place nevertheless..16/03/2013 00:00:00Dees breakfastSuperb 80th birthday breakfast . Lovely staff and wonderful treat basket wih pastries and a chocolate Happy Birthay sign as a surprise. Would definitely reccommend14/03/2013 00:00:00Can't wait to returnI hadn't been back to The Delaunay since going during its 'soft opening' and was so impressed. The huge menu caters for all tastes and I will be returning as often as possible to work my way through it !14/03/2013 00:00:00BreakfastAside from a booking error (email system down for which apologies were sincere) a first class experience. Surely the best bacon roll in Town?13/03/2013 00:00:00Good Old DelauneyWe have been to the Delauney on numerous occasions, having been introduced to it by my son. It is always a pleasure to walk through the door and be greeted by friendly faces. The food is good but the service is even better!13/03/2013 00:00:00
