Three course Menu on a Special was divine - And the Waiter and Maitre D were very attentive and the latter giving us options on Starters of the Day that wasn't on the A La Carte Menu . [A nice touch]

My only complaint was the steps were a bit tricky due to their steepness. Three of us had the three course fixed menu. Each of us chose different dishes from the others. Each of us enjoyed the starter / dish / dessert we had chosen. We visited on a Saturday night and it was very busy indeed - surprising as this area is very quiet at weekends once the legal fraturnity leaves. There is a good wine selection and my vennison was superb. My wife enjoyed her plaice main course and we both loved the blood orange cheese cake. Clearly this was a popular dessert as we noticed other tables experienced some dealy in receiving theirs ! I would rate this as one of the best, if not the best deal around at present. Whilst other good deals come and go, The Chancery continues to serve quality service for a very reasonable price. Service was excellent, the food exceeded any expectations we had and the recommended wine sublime. Thoroughly worth the £180 for 4. The restaurant was rather dark, but that kind of added to the ambience of a quiet social catch-up. Overall a very enjoyable evening. The fish was cooked very well, the wine was grand and the staff were friendly. The only minor annoyances were the rather uninspiring vegetarian options. I ordered the starter called 'textures of carrot' and was left slightly confused and very hungry afterwards.
