A word from The Butchershop Bar & Grill
The Butchershop Bar and Grill is one of Glasgow's most fashionable dining and drinking spots. With its stunning backdrop – Glasgow University and Kelvingrove Art Gallery as its majestic neighbours – The Butchershop, based in the heart of the west end of the city, offers a very modern experience based on the good old fashioned steakhouse and cocktail bar concept.
The contemporary interior of The Butchershop has a Manhattan-loft feel; all exposed brickwork and clean lines with old meeting the very new, creating the ideal setting in which to enjoy the rather fabulous signature cocktail list with favourites such as the Ratpack Manhattan and the Champagne Daisy, before settling in to the grill menu. Here the best 21-28 day- dry aged Scottish beef is served, butchered in-house by our chefs with a fabulous selection of equally good supporting acts including Loch Fyne oysters, fresh fish specials, braised lamb shanks and daily vegetarian options and much, much more...........

Diner Reviews
  • "First time I have been but been meaning to go for a while. I have to say I was impressed, especially as I had my 1 year old with me and I always worry that "nice" resteraunts are not always child freindly, but the staff and mood of the place was great. Food was fantastic. Will certainly return."

  • "My husband and I went for a meal on Saturday 12th April 2014 for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly from staff and shown to our table immediately. There was a good cocktail menu and an excellent wine list .The soft crab starter was delicious and my fillet steak was cooked perfectly although my husband asked for medium well and felt his steak was under done. The desert was lovely and the cheese board delicious. Although it was expensive we felt that the food was excellent. The restaurant was a bit dark for our liking."

  • "Nothing wrong with the food, chips excellent, but nothing special. We asked for certain tables only to be told they were all booked even though, by the time we left, they were still empty. Other staff lovely, very attentive and helpful. Meal a little overpriced but we enjoyed ours. Steak too much gristle but not excessive."

  • "First time in this place as a restaurant and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our waiter was very enthusiastic about their produce and was extremely helpful - even on hand with a tissue when required! The service was prompt and the food delicious, will definitely be back and would recommend."

  • "This was the second time I have dined here. The food and service was great both times. The staff are very attentive and friendly. My steak was very chewy so I said to the waiter who was very nice and got me a new one and also offered me something while I waited. Will definitely return and have already recommended it to people!"

  • "This place is awesome and one of the best restaurants for food and service we have ever even to. The wine we ordered was superb (Sauvignon Blanc - Spy Valley) with some brilliant starters, goats cheese cake and pressed corned beef. For main course we ordered the Chateaubriand for two (£60) that came with chips or mash and a sauce or butter per person. The waiter brought out the meat to show us before it was cooked and then when it was ready carved it at the table for us. Best tasting cut ever! This place is busy (we went Friday night) so book in advance. Absolute find, loved it."

  • "We have visited the Butchershop on special occasions over the last few years and they have Consistently the best steaks ever"
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "The food was very good but not much choice if you don't want a steak. We both had sirloin steaks which were cooked correctly to our specification. The restaurant was noisy (too much background music ) and poorly lit making it difficult to see what we were eating. The staff were attentive but clearly wanted to turn the tables around fast. Altogether quite expensive for what it was."

  • "We dined from pre theatre menu and were very happy with the choices available and the quality of the food. We will definitely be back!"

  • "A group of us went here for a birthday dinner. Food was fantastic although there was a slight wait for the meal but that's not really a major gripe....just that I was hungry! No other complaints....staff wonderful. Would go back."

  • "Visited the butchershop for a birthday lunch last Tuesday. We opted for the 2 steaks & a bottle of wine for £30 on a Tuesday deal. Amazing value!! One of the best steaks iv ever had and still a generous portion even with the deal. We purchased some sidedishes from the main menu which were all delicious, (the cream spinach is a must have) so unfortunately we were too full for dessert but I will definitely be back. I've already recommended the butchershop to many friends. My mum has even booked a table of 9 for June after hearing my great review! I must mention Kane again as his service was excellent, very professional but also very natural and genuinely friendly guy. Staff make all the difference in a place so thanks again."

  • "It was my boyfriend's birthday and he loves steak so I decided to try out the butchershop. I had tried steak in the past but never had a whole one to myself. we both had fillets and they were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone. The waiter Kane was brilliant too."

  • "Massive disappointment after recommended, table booked for 9:15pm included in th booking notes it said we would have a pram with us & booked this time as our daughter sleeps 8pm - 8am! Arrived a little early and was seated in an inappropriate place where the pram was continuously knocked into by staff and diners. Food was lovely & prompt however we given the bill at 10pm & asked to leave as children were not aloud on the premisies after 10pm this was after we'd ordered coffee and wine. So we left swiftly after paying leaving behind a carafe of rijoca & a full pint & coffee very rude & admitted to not reading the notes. Charged just under a £100 and rushed out the restaurant leavin behind our paid for beverages rushed, rude & ripped off."

  • "Me and my wife went there on Saturday 22/03/2014. The place is very nice. The food was amazing ( a wee bit prices for what you get but it was very good). Service was brilliant the place has a buzz about. Will be back"

  • "The butchers shop was recommmended to us by several people as being one of glasgows premier staeakhouses and they were right. Superb food, good service and a decent wine list means it fully deserves it reputation. The food was of very good quality and cooked to perfection, i would recommend the signature dish cote d'bouef"

  • "This was our first time at the butchershop bar and grill, it had been recommend by a friend. The staff where friendly and food was good, however we had to wait over 45 minutes for our dinner to arrive. We both had the sunday roast. We watched three other tables order their food, eat it and two of the tables actually paid and left the restaurant before our dinner was at our table. We felt the staff, although very friend, didn't really bother to much about us, we were also left with our dirty plates once we were finished for ages, we had to call some over to clear them and get our bill. We would probably try the restaurant again, however the amount of time we waited to be served through our visit may make us think twice."

  • "We enjoyed lunch from the 2 course set menu. Service was good but the ambience wasn't great as there were so few other diners there that Friday. We were surprised at that as the quality if the produce and the cooking merits regular custom. We'll be back soon."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "This was our 2nd visit to The Butchers Shop in less than 6 months and again we were delighted with everything. The steaks were first class. Cocktails and wine excellent. We had cocktail before dinner wine with dinner starter and main each coffee and brandy and our bill was £109. We had booked our table for 6.30pm and there was a lovely atmosphere and by 7.30pm every table was filled. We were staying in the city centre but so easy to get there by bus, underground or taxi we travelled by taxi both ways."

  • "I have been several times to the butchershop and always had a great meal.i went for the burger v steak offer and was very disappointed.my burger came with the wrong cheese and by the time the correct one arrived my partner was half way through his steak.this may be due to the size of the steak which was much smaller than I expected.i have had the steak on the lunch menu and was expecting a similar size.when my burger did arrive it was hard around the edges and the bun was so burnt that I could not eat it.£30 seemed like good value but I would prefer to pay full price and actually be able to eat my meal.the manager did discount the bill but unfortunately I am not sure if I would choose the butchershop again"

  • "Delicious Sunday lunch. The tafelspitz was delicious & very tender. Great price for the quality of food."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "Quality of food good to very good but value for money very poor. Crab/Prawn starter excellent but outrageously priced at just under £10. Avoid Short Beef Rib starter (very fatty, small portion). Fillet steaks were very good but again portions were meagre. Desserts are also very pricey (£6.95+) which leaves a sour taste after spending almost £200. No beef burger on a Sunday night which was one of the main reasons for the (first time) visit. Would only go back again on a Tuesday night when they offer the £30 `two for one` menu. Nicks Bar & Grill & Stravagin are both far better value for money and both also have significantly better atmosphere."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "We don't normally do steak houses but I was on an Atkins diet and we had my fiances birthday to celebrate. We were very impressed by both the food and the atmosphere. The biggest surprise was my starter: beet salad. Not often I rave about something veggie but this was truly excellent. For my main course, there was no problem with me swapping my chips for creamed spinach and they didn't even raise an eyebrow at my quirky wine aerator that I insisted on using. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the service was attentive yet discreet. I would thoroughly recommend it. It is pricey but the quality is there to match."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "Very noisey restaurant, we weresquashed in the corner near a coffee machine, so had the joys of looking at all the dirt underneath that My other half had Prawn & Crab cocktail was very dry and consisted of mostly lettuce and for the price of £10 not worth it, I had the short ribs, which were tiny. The steaks were average nothing great, handcut chips very basic and the green beans over garlicked. The coffee was cold"
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "From the second we arrived until we left the staff were friendly, attentive and invisible. Nothing was too much trouble and they knew when to leave you alone. Food was fab, very tasty although for me slightly on the expensive side. Would highly recommend a visit and I hope to return again soon."

  • "I was here mid week on a TT special (3 courses for £15.95). Service was super efficient, but not that friendly. I had a lovely beetroot starter, followed by the Coley fillet. However judging for the steaks being served all around me, I definitely should have gone for a red meat choice. Atmosphere was nice with up beat music and I felt comfortable even though I was dining alone. I will definitely return at a later date for a steak."

  • "Great steak, well presented in a buzzy, well managed restaurant. We went on Tuesday night and it was packed."
