  • "we went to the bluebridge on monday 14th april and this has fast become our favourite restaurant! my wife had the prawns with chilli jam and she said the best she has ever tasted!! i had the beef wellington wich was perfection. we are very happy eating here!"
    dined on 14/04/2014
  • "The food was pretty good with portions of veg large enough to share between two. The ambiance of the place was good with no rush to serve you although I would recommend the 2nd sitting in the evening. However....I do think this is rather an expensive restaurant and being charged £3.50 for EACH vegetable dish (mains don't come with any veg) I managed to get a bill for over £120 for two and we only had one bottle of wine! Would i go back.... only on special occasions"

  • "We booked for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant was busy without being full. Menu was varied and clear. Braised beef was absolutely superb, really tender. Sweet menu was basic old fashioned English, but none the worse for that. Great value, super food, we will be back"

  • "this was our 4th visit to bluebridge, and i cannot find fault with anything in the restaurant. we came away very happy and very full."

  • "My parents enjoyed a wonderful meal here for their Golden Wedding Anniversary and thoroughly recommended that others go there too. Thank you for making it special for them."

  • "It is a very nice restaurant. The service is fantastic and the food very good. Car park a little small but you can find a space in the surrounding roads."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Disappointed with music as we booked especially for that reason. Noise meant that we could not hear music that well and it would have been better if your singer had moved around the restaurant which would have meant we could hear when in our area"
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "We used to be regulars at the Blue Bridge until we moved away but this was our first meal there for almost 2 years. Still as good as ever; great food, great value."
    dined on 23/03/2014
  • "We celebrated with a meal at the Blue Bridge. Both of us have a special diet which was catered for without fuss. An enjoyable evening and attentive service. Food excellent although having been before a change of menus would have been welcomed. Would certainly recommended this place to all."

  • "I couldn't have asked for better, had my table request fulfilled. Food was brilliant, definitely my type of food. All the staff were very helpful and professional. Service was quick and didn't feel rushed. Will be and have been recommending this to friends and will be returning"

  • "Have been to the blue Bridge before but it is somewhere I forget about going to. We went on a Monday evening and I did think they may have had a cheaper menu for the week. The food was really good though, we had cod and chips, pork belly and steak and chips all of which were great! Our desserts were delicious! My favourite was the chocolate fondant. Will be returning sooner next time."
    dined on 17/03/2014
  • "This restaurant has got great dining for a special occasion down to a fine art.The service fem start to finish is excellent and you are not rushed in any way.The food is as you would expect to the same high standard. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone with no reservations."

  • "somewhat disappointed with experience. My mother came to lunch and although she can walk with crutches, it is difficult. It was clear that my mother would have a problem with access and when we were seated this was not taken into consideration - made worse by the fact that when leaving we were partially obstructed by another diner - the table and chairs were too near the stairway. I complained at the time, but was informed that I should have booked a disable friendly table. Surely the staff could have seen the disabled person when we arrived and would need a more accessible position?!!! However, the staff were very courteous, it was just the food that was problematical and too much for me to expand on through this survey. J May"

  • "A very popular restaurant in Chelmsford. I took a friend and former work colleague to lunch. My first visit for a meal although I had visited the restaurant previously in a professional capacity. I booked a table but the dining room was not very busy due to the weather. Good lunch menu. I had ham hock terriene followed by catch of the day (ie Fish and Chips), an excellently cooked piece of cod. My friend had mackeral pate followed by pasta. Enjoyable food and attentive service. The meal with a glass of wine each, a dessert course for me, two coffee's and a tea came to just over £60 including service charge. I would certainly like to visit for dinner but I understand it gets very busy on Fridays and Saturdays so booking is probably a must"

  • "Lunched with three friends. Cooking was sound without being sensational. Fair value. Service pleasant and well meaning but rather amateurish: men served before the ladies, clumsy handling of plates and dishes. All in all not quite so good an experience as our last visit. Perhaps we caught them on an off day. We would still recommend it though."

  • "Nice Restaurant, but ver pricey. Ok for special occasions. Wine was very good quality. Shame about the shortage of parking spaces."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "I came to the Blue Bridge with my two daughters to treat one to a Birthday lunch, we had a super lunch and the waitress could not have been more charming, I have been to you before but they had not and will return in the future, we had a very enjoyable time. Yours Brigitte"

  • "Having had a few exceptional lunches at the Blue bridge we thought long and hard about booking for an evening meal ( it was mums treat and this doesn't happen very often!!) My reservation was because it is so much more expensive to eat there on a Saturday evening as opposed to a Thursday and this annoys me. I have to say it was worth every penny, food and service was truly superb, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Blue Bridge (4 people). Food was very good, would have been perfect except x4 roast sirloin beef ordered and when asked how we'd like it done, x2 said medium to well-done, and x2 said medium to rare. When the plates arrived all x4 were identical. Good to eat but not quite what was ordered. We did raise it and were given a small plate of pinker beef slices, but it would have been better if weren't asked when we ordered. But that's minor. The dining room was very pleasant and the service was excellent."

  • "Had dinner with my wife on Saturday night, booked the late table at 9.15 so we didn't feel rushed to give up our table to someone else. We felt welcome from the start as the gentleman at the front of house took my wifes coat and asked for us to be seated early. Service was good all night, a singer was performing in the bar and she was quite good. The food was really nice and the time between courses was perfect, no long wait nor too quick . My only gripe would be that the food is maybe slightly overpriced (£106 for 2 and only 1 glass of wine) compared to other restaurants of similar standings and Im not a fan of service charges being put on the bill, I decide whether they deserve a tip, they shouldn't always assume they have done a good job"
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "We took my parents who were visiting us here in the UK from NZ for Christmas. We enjoy going here on special occasions as the food is delicious but it is a bit more expensive. I have to say the food wasn't as brilliant as usual, maybe this was as it was a few days after what Im sure was a very busy xmas day for them. It was very quiet. Service was perfect as always and we enjoyed ourselves."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "Went with my wife for my sixty-something Birthday Lunch. Greeting friendly & we were shown immediately to our table. Tho the restaurant was nearly empty, we were shown to a table partly in a doorway. On request, the staff were happy to move us to a more acceptable spot. As usual, the food was good, tho the apple sauce was very sweet & seemed "manufactured"! The courses didn't arrive as promptly as they might have, but the staff were pleasant & attentive. The starters & main course were perfectly acceptable, but my lemon tart was merely adequate. All in all quite a pleasant experience & one we will probably repeat in the not too distant future."

  • "A very good experience. We particularly like the good value for pensioners. good food with pleasant staff. a good place for groups of ladies of a certain age!!!"
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "This was our third visit and much like the first two was a very enjoyable one. The restaurant is very well laid out and suitable for groups, couples and families alike. My wife and I had the 3 course Sunday lunch which was delicious. I thoroughly recommend the mixed meats roast, however everything looks fantastic. Plate presentation is impressive as is the quality of staff throughout the restaurant who are always welcoming and attentive. Look forward to our fourth visit!"

  • "I have been to the Blue Bridge one before and have always meant to return. My husband and I visited on his birthday and it was as good as I remembered. The staff are helpful without being over-bearing, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food is excellent. We ate from the set dinner menu which had some excellent choices. Can't recommend this place enough."
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "Bluebridge is my favourite local reastaurant for lunch or dinner. Beautiful food with lots of choice always perfectly cooked. Best Beef Wellington I've eaten and lovely choice of fish dishes. Sunday lunch is very good with a choice of early or late sitting. The set menu is good value with a great choice of dishes. Good choice of side orders. Excellent service and a nice bar for pre-pot dinner drinks or cocktails. Bluebridge never disappoints."
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "We have been to the Blue Bridge on several occasions for sunday lunch and on a saturday evening, the food has always been superb and the staff are all so very welcoming and attentive"

  • "Great food, service, setting - would definitely recommend."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "We've came here for the Sunday Lunch menu as a special treat for our elderly friend. Everything about the experience was great - and we thought it was the best meal out we'd ever had! We therefore brought some more friends along for a very treat and were faced with a very expensive A la carte evening meal menu. The food was pretty awesome and service could not be faulted. £26 for a fillet steak seemed a bit overboard though - which didn't include vegetables!!"
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "Absolutely great food. Would rate this as absolute best in the Chelmsford area, we were 4 diners and all had something different - every dish was both aesthetically pleasing and absolutely delicious. Well worth paying a bit extra!"
    dined on 08/01/2014
  • "Fab meal as always, great service, left there feeling thoroughly spoilt."
    dined on 30/12/2013
  • "All staff friendly, explaining anything we asked, food was great especially the steak and 3 x cooked chips, & the classic caesar salad fab. Dessert was ordered for 2, treacle tart but not as expected so was taken off the bill. Wine was affordable."
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "The Blue Bridge is very local to us - only a 20 minute drive - so perfect for a mid-week catch up with foodie friends - we've eaten here several times & never been disappointed - good value & service - will be back again soon"
    dined on 28/11/2013
  • "We took my Mum-in-law and daughter (age 8) out for Sunday lunch and had a lovely time. The service was outstandingly friendly and very efficient without ever making us feel hurried. Our waitress was excellent, taking time to chat to us. The food was excellent and the variety of choice - stunning! We would definitely go back again - the mussels to start with and the steak received a massive thumbs up from my husband, and I thoroughly enjoyed the roast (especially the delicious Dauphinoise potatoes). A lovely, chilled out and enjoyable Sunday lunch."
    dined on 08/12/2013
  • "As a party with 'special dietary needs' i.e. vegetarian with no dairy plus gluten free, nothing was too much trouble. Staff were well prepared for our requests and able to accommodate them, which in my view is what marks out the great from the mediocre. The service was excellent and the food was completely delicious, with an imaginative menu. The only slight criticism I have is that we did not have a dish of vegetables to go with the food which would have made it perfect. Otherwise A* and great value. Would definitely return and recommend to a friend."
    dined on 06/12/2013
  • "We have enjoyed meals at the blue bridge a few times now, we are always welcomed by there very professional staff, the meal is of excellent quality and perfection we highly recommend you enjoy a meal there, the setting is great especially if you are having a romantic meal ;-)"
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "We recently visited the Blue Bridge with friends from overseas. They, and indeed us were extremely impressed with the food and service and felt that the steaks were exceptional! We were rather perturbed when entering the restaurant to find a crowd two to three deep at the bar, a rather raucous singer and a shortage of staff to take us to our table. However, once seated at the rear of the restaurant things improved immeasurably and the evening was a great success"
    dined on 23/11/2013
  • "Good quality, imaginative food. Attentive but not intrusive service. Bread & olives were excellent. Wide choice of wines A little pricey so would only go on special occasions."
    dined on 22/11/2013
  • "I took my wife here for Sunday Lunch on her birthday. The food was outstanding quality, and a wide range to choose from. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and their service was excellent. Finally, I thought for the quality and service, the value was amazing, thoroughly recommend it."
