The AthenaeumThe AthenaeumWe are big fans of Afternoon Tea and we found The Anthenaeum really knows how to serve up a most relaxing afternoon. All of us thoroughly enjoyed it and you can book it earlier, if you are short on time. Highly recommend it!01/04/2013 00:00:00Would go back again and againFood was great, atmosphere perfect and just the way to go for an afternoon tea! Absolutely loved the dessert
Cart concept where u r presented with around 15 varieties of dessert. Yummy!25/03/2013 00:00:00Good food and great value for moneyWe went to the Athenaeum for afternoon tea. The service is good and the food is great. Their afternoon tea is amazing value. Finger sandwiches can be refilled. Besides Scones we have crumpets also. Their jam are not too sweet. For me it is perfect. They also have a cake trolley. So we have plenty to choose from. The whole ambience is very homely and comfortable. Would definitely come back again.26/02/2013 00:00:00SpecialThis was a special occasion and we were happy with it for that purpose.15/02/2013 00:00:00This is an old favourite. This is an old favourite. The food is always very good, the service is excellent. The restaurant has great decor and ambience is very relaxed. We had a three course meal from the set menu and were left to chat and finish our evening in our own time. As it was my birthday we also received a surprise little birthday cake at the end. Quality is very good and price more than reasonable. Well worth a visit.15/01/2013 16:00:00toptable reviewService was outstanding and very fast. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The amuse bouche of chestnut foam was brilliant, and the starters were delightful. The meat on the mains was perfectly cooked however the veg was very undercooked. We couldn't really complain because the dessert was incredible. Overall we had a stunning evening and would definitely recommend this restaurant.21/12/2012 16:00:00Athenaeum: excellent prix fixe menuWe had the Seasonal set menu. There was plenty of choice, even for veggie-only and fish-preferred customers. Our group was quite large - 8 people - and the meal went well. Thank you, Athenaeum!19/12/2012 16:00:00Great Christmas menuWe dined here for the Christmas menu - which was oustanding value for oustanding food. We were greeted in the restaurant by an entree with compliments from the chef, which was very welcome and each course that followed was delightful (the creme brulee was perhaps the best I've had). I will definitely be returning!14/12/2012 16:00:00excellent service and foodas always, this place keeps me smiling. Always good for a romnatic dinner.11/11/2012 00:00:00I went for lunch with friendsI went for lunch with friends at the Athenaeum, Piccadilly, London. I have been several times before and find the set lunch at £15 for 2 courses including coffee and a chocolate, very good value for money. Service is very good and the dining room is very pleasant. Another plus is that they do not include service charge like so many restaurants, tipping is up to the individual.02/05/2012 00:00:00First time visit, myself &First time visit, myself & my foodie friend are into hotel dining, but only when there is a special deal! We went on a Sunday night at 6pm. it was very quiet when we first got there but by 8pm it was buzzing. Service was excellent and catered to my gluten free needs seamlessly, I didn't even need to ask, they brought me great gluten free bread. Food was very nice and the restaurant is gorgeous and sumptuous. Definitely recommended and will be going again! Even the palm court bar is nice.25/03/2012 00:00:00Excellent meal again, oneExcellent meal again, one of my all time favourite restaurant in london. Really good quality food with amazing decor. With the TT offer its amazing value for money15/03/2012 17:00:00Excellent food and ambience.Excellent food and ambience. Service was good except for the stiffness of one waiter. When asked if one of the dessert wines could be served by the glass, he immediately replied "If it is not on the menu, it is not available". He made no attempt to offer an alternative by the glass. Only when encouraged to check if an exception could be made, he reluctantly went to check with someone. This aspect of service could be improved - I would then be able to say service is also excellent!14/03/2012 17:00:00The service here was brilliant; The service here was brilliant; very friendly and helpful staff. My scallop starter was nothing special, however my main (a trio of English beef classics) was amazing. The beef was so well cooked and tasted the great, as did the Cottage Pie, albeit very small. The steak and ale pie was just ok and I'm not in a rush to try it again like the others. At £32 for the main alone you really do need the 50% off deal to make this worthwhile.11/03/2012 17:00:00I went with mu family forI went with mu family for Sunday lunch and I must say it was a treat. We chose the roast beef at a £5 supplement but it was well worth it. We had very generous portions of delicious beef. After we had a chocolate torte - delightful - while my son had the cheese platter, which came with lovely homemade biscuits, grapes etc.
Followed by coffee and homemade truffles, we couldn't have managed another morsel. My only criticism was that the menu was very limited - especially the starters.10/03/2012 16:00:00The Athenaeum London. GreatThe Athenaeum London. Great food, atmosphere and service. Very expensive unless you have the TT deal but with the deal it's really worth it. Go to celebrate or treat yourself.07/03/2012 16:00:00I went to lunch at the Athenaeum,I went to lunch at the Athenaeum, Piccadilly, London with a friend. We have both been several times before and and find the ambience attractive and relaxing, as usual the service was friendly and efficient. I would say that the food is good but not great, bu at £15 for a two course set lunch including water and coffee in such a location is exellent value for money.
It remains one of my favourite place for a very pleasant and not too expensive lunch,06/03/2012 00:00:00Went to the Athenaeum in MayfairWent to the Athenaeum in Mayfair on Thurs 16th Feb. Food was great, service was attentive - continually offered sandwiches then on to enjoy crumpets, scones and a selection of desserts! Very yummy and great value for money.
Was very quiet which suited us perfectly - might be on the quiet side if going for a special occasion.16/02/2012 00:00:00family Sunday Lunch at thefamily Sunday Lunch at the Athenaeum London, food was good, service very slow, to much of a hotel feel shame it has not got the views of the Hilton. Special offer was good value.28/01/2012 16:00:00Good. Liked. Friendly staff.Good. Liked. Friendly staff. Good food and prices. Would go again. Recommended.19/01/2012 16:00:00We've had some lovely lunchesWe've had some lovely lunches at the Athenaeum, so had high hopes for their evening 'pudding parlour' events- and we were not disappointed.
There was a tempting variety, including an excellent sticky toffee pudding & a light lemon mirangue pie. Staff were charming & didn't make us feel uncomfortable about the amount of dessert we were putting away. And at 15 for all you can eat plus champagne, it's an excellent value treat.
Only one niggle, chocolate brownies could have been richer!12/01/2012 16:00:00The Athenaeum was packed whenThe Athenaeum was packed when we went for dinner but this did not impact at all on the excellent service. The 3 courses and a glass of champagne for £29.50 was added to with complimentary coffee and mince pies which was an unexpected bonus. Food was great - portions a bit too big for me - offering great value as ever.20/12/2011 16:00:00The Athenaeum was packed whenThe Athenaeum was packed when we went for dinner but this did not impact at all on the excellent service.
