A word from Taberna Etrusca
Established in 1967, Taberna Etrusca is an Italian restaurant in the classic trattoria style, with textured walls, tiled floor, open-beamed ceiling and an overall timeless quality. A pretty courtyard catches the sun during the Summer with tables highly sought after. The entire restaurant can be hired evenings and weekends and being so perfectly situated next to Bow Bells Churchyard, wedding receptions are naturally popular here throughout the year.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "As always the food was excellent, the service attentive and well humoured, and the ambiance spot on."
    dined on 17/04/2014
  • "Had dinner with a friend here, service was great, not hurried at all. Food was good, tasty and decent portion sizes. We were left to chat and not pressurised to leave once we had finished eating, even though they were getting busy. We had a very relaxed evening. Definitely recommend."

  • "This is a charming and enjoyable place to eat. The service is charming and efficient (was a little over eager at first (wrong water brought because didn't take time to listen; then two bottle of the right kind for a while!). The chefs agreed an off-menu Zabaglione for the table for dessert - excellent. The food is always good here and they really try to please. Nice wine list, too."

  • "Pros: Classic Italian meal. Beautifully prepared and presented. High quality ingredients meant even simple Fritto Misto was stunning A real treat for foodies at a very reasonable price for the heart of the City of London. Cons: Busy, cramped and noisy at lunchtime, good with friends but not for a business conversation. Recommend: Perfect for an early evening with someone who appreciates fine food and you want to impress."

  • "Booked at last minute. Great service and food improved greatly since last visit. Restaurant full so quite noisy and tables close together."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "Rack of lamb in some gooey casing, vitello alla milanese that was basically cardboard, baby squid in listless tomato soup without a hint of the promised chili. Shame"

  • "Excellent food, good and friendly service, lovely place."

  • "Good food, good service and a good ambience - just right for a business lunch"

  • "I have been eating at this restaurant for about 30 years and have consistently enjoyed its lunchtime ambience of bustling staff and happy diners. This was my first evening visit, with my wife, - early evening so a good test of a pre-theatre meal. It was very good, with prompt service and a nice wine, and I had a great Veal Milanese with pasta. I would recommend the restaurant for both business and pleasure."

  • "Enjoyable evening with my friends and good food too."

  • "I use this restaurant often and once again it has ticked all the appropriate boxes. Highly recommended."

  • "Tucked away in a little square Taberna Etrusca is a good find. Perfect for our early dinner before heading to the Barbican. Good food, unconventional decor, good service and 1000 point to boot."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "I went to Taberna Etrusca for a business lunch. I had Risotto Con Gamberi, Cipollotti E Rucola which was delicious and freshly made. The service is fast and efficient, without feeling too rushed. Just perfect for a very pleasant lunch break in the City."
    dined on 13/11/2013
  • "Better than the average Italian restaurant. Really enjoyed the food. Tables quite close and it was a busy lunchtime so a bit noisy but that added to the ambiance. Good for meeting friends or known business associates but not somewhere to have difficult business discussions."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "Taberna Etrusca is the finest place in the City of London for good wholesome Italian cooking with the warmth of service and cheerful decor to go with it. I've eaten here for c.20 years and even had an office party here and its never let me down. Today was no exception - on a cold, miserably wet day, the sunshine was brought out inside by a quick, simple and enjoyable, hot and delicious pasta. Perfetto!"
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "We booked this for a staff night out and everyone had a great time. All of the meals were delightful although the wine can be a little expensive."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "The menu was quite extensive, and fairly reasonably priced with the 20% offer. Whilst the food was tasy - it could have done with being hotter. Restaurant was almost full, so service was a bit slow - not all the meals came out together, and had to remind waitress to bring a coffee we were missing. May give a it another go at some stage - but not in a rush to go back"

  • "Went to Taberna Estruca with a friend, we were early, got there 10 minutes before they were due to open but were very accomodating and let us in. Food was good and the service was excellent."

  • "We took two clients here after it had been highly recommended by a number of colleagues and we were not disappointed. The service was very attentive and the food delicious. We had the sea bass, chicken and cod and all were served with beautiful sauces and cooked perfectly. Will definitely be going back to sample the pasta!"

  • "The restaurant its self has a lovely relaxed but elegant vibe, so if you get there first it is nice to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and read a book whilst you wait for friends, it can be a little cold though. The food is good, nothing magnificent but cooked well and tastes good. I have fund the service a bit hit and miss as I have been here several times, sometimes its great and everything arrives as you would expect but recently I went there with one friend and there were a few groups in and we seemed to be waiting a long time for our orders. Whene ever I've gone here with a group there haven't been any problems"
    dined on 15/01/2014
  • "I met a business colleague for lunch and chose the restaurant because I had been before and enjoyed the food. I wasn't disappointed and we both very much enjoyed the food this time. It was a Friday so the restaurant was relatively busy with a good atmosphere. The staff were prompt and business-like. The menu was very good with an excellent range of options that would suit vegetarians as well as meat eaters. There were a number of daily specials which added to the variety. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food which is of a very high standard. I would definitely recommend the restaurant as a good lunch option"

  • "This was a return visit for us and again food and service were excellent. What very much recommend for a traditional Italian in the City."
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "My third visit and once again i enjoyed it....food wine and service were excellent.....i had the vitello with a lemon sauce .....didnt have a dessert but i was satisfied with a starter and main course..."
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "I have not noticed this restaurant before, tucked in bow churchyard The food was ok , but what really annoyed us was the playing of rock music, and this was a city lunch meeting. The staff were young and European, so clearly had no understanding of the relevance of city folk who meet at lunchtimes almost always to talk business. I asked them to turn it off which they did for about half am hour and then they turned it back on again. I won't go back ."
    dined on 06/01/2014
  • "Restaurant was nice looking, a little bit expensive I have to say. My friend had some spaghetti with tomatoes and it was swimming in olive oil. Mine was cod with potatoes and lots of mustard. Both meals were 14 and 15 pounds. I think I could get a better food in pub for a lot cheaper. Service good, nice people."
    dined on 19/12/2013
  • "I'd booked on the day and when my friend and I arrived, we were impressed with the two choices of festive menu. I really enjoyed the sea bass tortelloni starter but was not so impressed with the cod as the fish was dry and the sides of potatoes and vegetables lukewarm. I ordered a rich chocolate dessert but was alarmed to discover a hair in it. However, the too numerous staff were over-attentive and kept asking us if we were ready to order at extremely frequent intervals which proved very irritating. As a consequence, we did not leave a tip whereupon the staff proved very dismissive and appeared happy that we were leaving. Would not be in a rush to return and would not recommend on the basis of attitude and sub standard food."
    dined on 18/12/2013
  • "Friendly, efficient service and great food. We were there for a business lunch but equally good for personal dining - nice atmosphere"
    dined on 16/12/2013
  • "Taberna Etrusca in bow Lane. Busy, good atmosphere, generally good service and nice, dependable food. Everything was good and met with expectations. Service was welcoming and the food was reliably good. A very pleasant place for a business lunch."

  • "A busy Friday lunchtime just before Christmas and the restaurant was heaving. Nonetheless we were seated promptly (and the waitress was helpful about changing our table as I am heavily pregnant and could not get into the first one allocated). Good traditional Italian menu - service was quick and the food good. Very noisy (all those wooden floors) and the tables are packed closely together - stops just short of feeling too crowded/overbearing rather than a bustling Italian restaurant with atmosphere."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "First visit but really enjoyed it. Busy, good atmosphere, good service and very nice food. Will certainly return"

  • "Really enjoyed it - there was a better ambience and service this time around, and the food was really good."
    dined on 27/11/2013
  • "There's nothing actually wrong with Taberna Etrusca, but there's not sufficient difference between it and the hundreds of other choices in the area. The restaurant lacks charm and while the food is fair and service perfectly civil, it feels tired and dated."
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "I visited this place for lunch on Monday afternoon. It was my first visit for 8 years since my last visit, the place had maintained its very cosy and comfortable atmosphere during this time. The food here is always promising, especially when you are looking for pasta. I had a very pleasant time with my 2 guests from abroad, who really liked the Spaghetti Enzo, a tomato sauce and Scottish beef fillets pasta. It is a place I recommend for business lunches for busy people, who cannot afford to spend 3 hours for a lunch!"
    dined on 25/11/2013
  • "Whilst this restaurant is part of a chain, you are made to feel like you are being served by a family run business. The ambience was well set to make you feel like you were in Milan or Rome and the food was just exceptional! Highly recommended!"
    dined on 21/11/2013
  • "Another good visit to Taberna Etrusca. They have an excellent specials menu each day which is value for money and quickly delivered. A busy restaurant which has a loyal following."

  • "Always enjoy this restaurant, been using it for 20 years....dependable."

  • "Third visit to the restaurant, first time was at lunch and couldn't fault it. But this time and the previous occasion went in the evening. Went to celebrate daughters new job. On arrival was tables were an issue even though they were pretty empty and the manager said we could sit outside if we didn't like where we were sitting. The rest of the evening was dire, with three waiters constantly staring at us and they couldn't wait to get rid of us. The bill was just dumped on the table. Shame because the food is lovely but service terrible."
    dined on 23/10/2013
  • "excellent for business lunch, busy yet the service is good, food is excellent and prices are reasonable"
