Steak ExchangeGreat food, somewhat priceyWe went with the 2-4-1 offer for a "romantic" evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had asked for a table with some privacy in our online booking and indeed we received a corner table which was great. The service (we had in total three different waiters/waitresses) were very friendly and warm and very easy to chat with. On occasions they were a bit slow but this was mainly due the staff being very busy rather than unattendive. The food was fab. Highly recommend the steak tartare for starters, less the prawns which were OK but nothing exceptional. Chateaubriand (500g or 800g choice) for main was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding is gorgeous. In addition a carafe of cheaper wine set us back £83 with ~£45 in savings. We were informed that the meat came from our part of the country (Scotland). The Maitre-d had even been the farm where the meat had been sourced, in Aberdeenshire. The quality of the wine was good as well, although I left the select up to my brother-in-law. The manager was extremely helpful regarding our wine choice and gave us a fun blind tasting to help us decide. Starter choices are quite limited I felt - they could do with some pepping up. However, the steaks were to die for. We both had the rib eye and we both they were delicious. The sides were also really good and generous portions.
I would go back but only on the top table offer as otherwise the food is over priced somewhat. EVERY member of staff gave 10 out of 10 service, the Maitre De was a very friendly personable chap - they all knew the menu inside out and the wine choices to match. The food was absolutely divine we had Oysters/Scallops/Prawns to start and all opted for various steaks for main - I had no room left for desert but my friends did indulge and spoke very highly of their choices. We did the 50% off deal but in all honesty this is one place i'd pay full whack and be very happy to have done so. Seems to be aimed at the "yuppie" and/or business account entertaining end of the market, but not set up for stylish fine-dining, (Tables wood, no linen). Service and quality of the food could not be faulted.
