Spread Eagle RestaurantMost excellent lunchWhilst only 3 starters and 3 mains on the lunchtime special the food was excellent. Tuna starter was 3 large pieces seared perfectly so as to have 2 textures - cooked exterior and sushi interior. So fresh and the black bean/spring onion and dressing along with the red pepper puree were wonderful compliments. Lamb on artichoke with puree main was also delightful. Perfectly cooked. Portions were adequate. Warm bread beforehand and the house red was of great quality. Waiter was diligent, very friendly and polite but not intrusive. Lots of large paintings and prints of Greenwich, Thames thro to London going back over centuries. Only minor gripe was £3 for small coffee after - £3.37 once service charge added. Definitely going back again27/03/2013 00:00:00Outstanding food + Superb serviceHad a fantastic meal at the Spread Eagle, in the heart of Greenwich. The service was outstanding and very attentive. The food was impeccable and served quickly. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Will definitly be returning in future.16/02/2013 00:00:00Pre-theatre dining experienceWe had reservations about booking this restaurant given the mixed reviews. On arrival we were given a warm welcome and shown to our table. The service was good - friendly and attentive - and the food was very good too. The restaurant was pretty quiet as it was pre theatre but it does have a nice atmosphere and I particularly like the collection of art on the walls. We intend to dine at the restaurant again and would recommend it to others.02/02/2013 00:00:00Impressed againThis was my second visit and again I was very impressed.
I really like the old styling of the place and the food is simple and very good quality.
Would definitely recommend.18/11/2012 00:00:00I have used this restaurantI have used this restaurant for many years and seen some changes. Our Sunday lunch was extremely good, best beef and Yorkshire (I don't usually like Yorkshire). Pity there were not more people there. Used to be booking only on Sunday.
WC26/08/2012 00:00:00The Spread Eagle is one ofThe Spread Eagle is one of the best places to eat in Greenwich. The food is simply great and the service is excellent. It has an old world charm about it - the small bar area is particularly appealing with a fire roaring in the grate. Have been here a few times over the past couple of years and have never been disappointed. Will definitely be coming back!30/03/2012 16:00:00One enters the Spread EagleOne enters the Spread Eagle through the best restaurant door in London and then into a very pleasant space with old maritime pictures on the walls. Is this Greenwich fine dining? Not quite. No one takes coats which have to have hang over chairs. Food is good but pricey. Wine list has few wines in the lower twenties. The overall impression is below the prices charged and at west end prices, a trip into town would be a good investment.17/02/2012 16:00:00
