It was the ideal setting for out 10th anniversary and I would like to say that we were taken care of very well. We opted to the 3 course menu and each course was absolutely perfect in both presentation, quality and taste. The restaurant also laid on some hand made chocolates and champagne which was an extremely nice touch at the end of our meal. The restaurant itself was very intimate (OK - others could say "small"). The quality of the food (the menu gourmand) was great and the service was both efficient and friendly.
Compared to other similar tasting menus, I thought this was good value. My wife and I also appreciated the fact that we left feeling contentedly replete and "merry" rather than full to the gills and blotto from the wine pairings!

All lovely but no real surprises or anything magical. The service was excellent but lacked personality-maybe that was what was missing - Personality. It was all rather serious. The paired wines were excellent and good value with different ones served to the vegetarian and the meat eater. As i say - we had a great time but the staff were a little stiff and starchy and need to be a bit more open and friendlier with guests. This time it was our London anniversary and we enjoyed every minute of it! The food is of high quality, everything is brilliant and well balanced. I started with scallops which cooked perfectly, followed by a lamb dish which again delivered and provided this excellent foodie experience. Before dessert, we were so pleasantly surprised by the little dessert/palate cleanser - it had such clean flavours and so clean, I actually wanted more of that! I really enjoy dessert and again, the caramelized banana was so good, I really wanted to eat all of it quickly! It was so delicious and well executed that every mouthful was an experience. He was very impressed by the choice of venue, service, food and wine. I have a slight issue with the positioning of the table which was adjacent to the bar area and as a result my guest was slightly discomforted by guests and staff pushing by his chair. I went with an old friend who has visited most restaurants in the vicinity of St James's and he was extremely impressed not only with the excellent food/good service but the Pinot Blanc from Alsace. Once again we received a friendly welcome at the the St James's Hotel entrance folowing which we were shown to our table in the restaurant where again we were pleasantly received by smiling staff including the excellent sommelier.
