A word from Sen Nin Japanese Teppanyaki & Sushi Restaurant - Camden
Sen Nin Japanese Teppanyaki and Sushi restaurant, located in London on Camden's Pratt Street, is a hip spot to stop-off for a sushi-and-sake break, and this restaurant's relaxed, zen interior and excellent value-for-money menu attract a regular crowd of local scenesters, sushi enthusiasts and media folk. Everyone gathers in a group around teppanyaki grills in groups of ten, maybe orders a starter or two, then watches in delight as the chef performs, searing squid, meats, chicken and more. Sen Nin’s teppanyaki-style service guarantees a good show, and the theatrical chefs provide the perfect backdrop for first dates, pre-gig bites and fun nights out with friends. Sen Nin’s other Japanese menu specialties include fresh sushi, teppanyaki, tempura and soups with cocktails and chilled or hot sake on the side – we recommend the deluxe assorted sashimi platter, the udon gozen noodles with tempura prawns and vegetables. Diner Reviews
  • "Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. Good choice of food and prices very reasonable. The Filipino cook entertained with tricks while cooking the teppanyaki, making it a pleasant & enjoyable night-out."

  • "If you are looking for something different with some entertainment thrown into your meal out - this is the place to go! Watch your food be cooked live in front of you and get involved! some chef more interactive then others but such a fun night - something different! Food was really good as well - and with the TT offer it makes it all the more appealing!"

  • "A lively Japanese "experience". Starters were lovely, but we had to wait for another group to arrive as they feed everyone at the same time. It's more for parties and birthdays, lots of high octane chopping and throwing things around. Main course, pretty average. Very noisy!"

  • "Nice restaurant and fun chefs. We had to wait quite a bit for our table, but once the chef entered it was kinda fun. Been on better Teppanyaki places, but well worth the visit"

  • "Superb service and quality of the food. Very freindly service and we all (2 adults and daugther on 17 year) felt very velcome and entertaint. Would absolut recommend the restaurant."

  • "Had a really fun time at Sen-Nin. Very entertaining chef and good food. Great value with the 50% deal"

  • "Sen Nin Japanese was truly quite an experience and with the TopTable offers on their set menus, it made it even better! The entertaining chefs showing us their skills with the tepanyaki was amazing! The food was lovely and fresh and all the staff were very attentive, they also remembered my guest who had been before. I would recommend it for a cosy dinner party with friends/family and will definitely go back again."

  • "I have never been to a teppanyaki restaurant but always wanted to. And this really met all my expectations and went over and above on service. I thought that the chef would come out and just cook then leave...i was wrong. The chef put on a show for us a little bit of crowd participation aswel including a raw egg and a chefs hat. Really brilliant time and i feel i got my monies worth aswel. Roughly about £55-£60 for 2. You really must go. I will be goin again for my birthday."

  • "Excellent restaurant, it was very fun. Chef was really great"
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Good food and even better service. The only problem: all your clothes will end smelling like hell. "Fritanga" we say in Spanish. Great time for my 10 and 12 yo girls!"
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Set meal, three small beers and starter close to £50 per person. Food portions were small and left wanting to stop somewhere else to grab something to eat. You pay for the show, but i was expecting more generous portions, for £10 you have similar products and more generous portions on any asian takeaway. Good as a novelty experience but im sure no one repeats"
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Booked on the day via toptable with a 50% discount on the set meal. We did have to wait a while for our main meal to be cooked as one of the chefs had sliced open his hand earlier that day and had to go to hospital! But we were given extra miso soup whilst waiting. However, we did not have to wait too long and it did give us chance to allow x2 miso soups and appetizers to go down before the main meal. I enjoyed watching the teppanyaki being made, the chef was funny and there was more than enough for us to eat. At full price this would be a very expensive meal and not worth it, but at £25 each this is definitely worth the money and is different to any normal restaurant"
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "Really gorgeous food, wonderful service. Only really worth it with Toptable discount though."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "Slow service. Waited for a booked table. Didn't take order for a good 30 mins"
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Great place for food and entertainment but be warned you smell like a chip pan fryer when you come out. Dont wear your best coat :)"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The food is good, but a little pricey. I know you are also paying for the entertainment of the chef. This was merely ok. Quantities of food could have been greater. We ordered two starters and two mains to share and I had ample room left for more food. Also, I booked through Top Table with a 25% off the total bill deal. At the end the full bill was given to me and i had to send it back for the 25% deduction to be made (is that a mere oversight, or are they hoping people will no notice/be too embarrassed to ask for the deduction)?? Overall it is nice, but not amazing."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "The food was lovely although the chef that cooked it in front if us and threw egg for us to catch in out mouths needs to work on his accuracy! It was a perfect non - stuffy and super tasty meal out"
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Friendly yet professional, really appreciated the extra effort the staff went to in making our visit (for my husband's birthday) very special --could not have asked for anything more!"
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "An ok venue and the food was fairly good but would be a rip off without the toptable offer. Still I liked the concept and found it a fun night out."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Ambience excellent, especially with talented teppanyaki chefs doing tricks in front of you! Service could be a touch more attentive and a few orders were mixed up, otherwise great evening."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "it was really gooo fun, the chef was very cheerful and interact whilst cooking your food right in front of you! Overall, happy with the service."
    dined on 06/02/2014
  • "I took advantage of the Teppanyaki offer (twice!) and it was great value for money! Both times I had the same chef, who engaged with the diners and cooking had an entertainment factor. It's a great place to to in a group (max 10 people around a table) and watch the chef cook. The staff are very friendly too. We were tended to straight away, and drinks.starters came quickly, although you may have to wait a while for main meal as the chef may be cooking at another table, or will wait for more people to join to cook for them all at the same time. I had a great time, and will be booking again for another birthday next week :)"
    dined on 18/01/2014
  • "Good food well prepared, although only one chef on for three full tables so had to wait a while for our food."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "Amazing fun, with very cheerful chefs who interact whilst cooking your food right in front of you! Food was delicious and with everything half price on a Tuesday it's absolutely incredible value!"
    dined on 28/01/2014
  • "Compared to other teppanyaki restaurants, there is very little atmosphere here, and the chef we had did not engage with diners - the theatre which is part of the experience you would hope for is lacking. The food did not make up for this - it was very average, perhaps slightly above eg Benihana chain, which is much cheaper and better fun. For the very high prices it felt like poor value."
    dined on 03/05/2013
  • "If you are in the area and fancy some decent food at an OK price then it's worth a visit - there are better places"
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "Was a bit worried about the mixed reviews but I'm really glad I took the risk for a birthday dinner. We both had the lobster set meal which was cooked well and really was exceptional. The cook was really friendly and had some fun tricks. The ginger based cocktail was also really nice. This is a great atmospheric restaurant which serves really good food and is a cheaper alternative to other tepanaki places. Will be going back!"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "I took advantage of the 50% off menu. With this it was certainly worth it. Very tasty and well cooked food and a very entertaning experience at the Teppanyaki bar. The chef was very friendly and good fun and when it came to the food everything was beautifully prepared. Give it a go!"
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "It's really worth a visit. Kids would be mesmerised too!"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Nothing to shout about it either the negative or the positive largely, pleasant enough food with staff pleased to help in a good location"
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "Good food with an entertaining "teppanyaki martial art" performance by the chef!"
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "We arrived to an empty restaurant but it was soon packed and with their 50% off deal it was a great find! The chef was very friendly and entertaining."
    dined on 09/01/2014
  • "Service was great and food was nice, but it is quite pricey."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "The service was of the highest standard and the food was delicious. However, the price for what you get is steep."
    dined on 02/01/2014
  • "Very good meal with great entertainment from the chef!"

  • "There isn't anything fantastic I can write, but also there isn't anything bad about it. It warrants it's ratings as a pretty reliable place but nothing out of this world. I've been to a similar place before called BeniHana but that was very expensive for very little food. Here they give you better portions, and for less (much better once you get the toptable discount). The service was friendly. The chef was good but couldn't do any of the tricks - so not sure why he was there? Isn't the whole point of these places is that the chef does tricks?? Regardless I can't complain. Between 2 we had soup, 3 starters each, noodles with chicken and prawns and then ice cream for £50 (£25 each) after the Toptable discount. That's good value!"
    dined on 03/01/2014
  • "poor quality and presentation of food so much so left restaurant and ate somewhere else. Very dissapointed !!!!"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "Good was great. We tried the Lobster which was amazing with a sauce the chef used. I would recomened to anyone. Also the waiter told us every Tuesday is half price. :)"
    dined on 23/12/2013
  • "We went here as a group of four. The food was amazing and great value with the discount. We paid about £25 each for starters, beers, whiskey and more seafood, yummy fried rice and sushi than we should have ordered. We even included a generous tip as the service was great and our chef was lovely. Perfect for a big group (tables seemed to fit max 10, 12 or 15)"
