Diner Reviews
  • "I love satay, the foods amazing, the drinks are fantastic and the service is wonderful."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "I had booked a dinner for us to catch up with some friends, which I'd booked in February, for a dinner on 12th April, so had completely forgotten about the 2 hour table limit. When I arrived at the restaurant there was no reminder of the 2 hour limit, the service was poor and we were not asked if we would like any more drinks, so we were always trying attract any staffs attention to get drinks. This poor service was compounded when the waitress brought the bill without our asking for it, she didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert, drinks or anything further, with the explanation that we'd already been at the table for 20 minutes extra! Appalling! If you have a 2 hr limit then service your customers so that they're ready to leave in 2 hrs."

  • "Went here and it was just so loud. Can't even have a conversation with my group as I can only hear noise. Food is good but we were rushed and really didnt like the noise. I think it's more of a place for drinks and not dinner."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Having enjoyed the food and cocktails at satay bar I was not happy at the level of noise that came along with it. My friend and I was having trouble hearing each other we then left with a sore theta from shouting across the table. The waitress got a few of our orders wrong due to struggling to hear us."

  • "With a complimentary glass of Prosecco - lovely! As always Satay Bar is good food, good value - all round great bar/restaurant."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Although the food here is very nice, more needs to be done to achieve a pleasant dining experience as the ambience is non extistant.. very noisy and over crowded - at one point I was nudging elbows with the diner next to me - as they tried to squeeze six people on a table for four. To be fair, after a word with the waiter he did relocate them, only to replace them with another group of five!"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "My friends and I enjoyed a night out at the Satay Bar and found the food very tasty and good value for money. With the Happy Hour for cocktails thrown in the experience was a resounding success."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Got seated and served quite quickly. The service was quite good only thing I was disappointed that I couldnt have steamed fish...all the fish options were fried."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "My sister and I went here before we went to the cinema (conveniently located next door!). It was cocktail hour and the atmosphere definitely felt more like a cocktail bar than restaurant. Menus were a bit tatty but service was quick. Starters were great, my tempura prawns had the perfect batter. Then my Pad Thai was a very generous portion size and tasty too. Very good value for money. The staff like to hover a bit which I don't particularly like, but didn't ruin meal. Would return."

  • "They have the best cocktails it's actually my local so I recommend it every time"

  • "I enjoy the restaurant every time I've been there. It's a good ambience and service. The staff are extremely friendly and are always there to help."
    dined on 17/03/2014
  • "This was the very first time that I was able to dine at the Satay Bar, but previous to that I had heard how great the food was. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, and have already recommended this restuarant."
    dined on 18/03/2014
  • "The waitress' we had were very lovely and tried to accommodate for everything we needed. It was a bit noisy, so at times it was hard to hear our conversations and im in two minds about whether to go there with just me and my partner. Overall the food was nice, I would recommend seasoning the chargrilled chicken more though, we had to mix it with our yakitori starter sauce. I will definitely be coming back soon. Thanks"

  • "I've been to Satay on numerous occasions and i have to commend them on their amazing Laksa. I was going to order it this time but being on a diet i ordered the crispy squid + mango salad. I was disappointed when it arrived and all of the squid was battered and deep fried so i was unable to eat any of it. I should've asked really to be fair. Otherwise service, atmosphere, & cocktails are amazing!"

  • "Big fun atmosphere which would be great for groups."

  • "Good service, tasted fresh, staff were friendly, would go there again before a gig for sure"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Took my mum to satay bar for her birthday. Beef ribs were cold and over cooked, .waitress was impatient and unfriendly. Service is usually good at satay bar, I have been coming for years so was very surprised at the food and service"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Eat here prior to going to the Academy fro music. Tasty food and friedly service. Certainly advised to book as it got quite busy but this added atmosphere and didn't spoil the service we received."

  • "First time dinning experience at Satay Bar, very busy atmosphere for a Thursday evening, it took a while to be seen to but i will but that down to the rush period. with that being said the food was delicious, i ended up getting the sea bass as they had run out of snapper,i didn't mind in the end as sea bass was my second option and it was cooked to perfection, just had to add a touch of black pepper for a hint of heat, with a side of greens and sweet potato which was just fine. arrived 5 minutes before happy hour ended so that was cool to double up on cocktail order :-) And the cheese cake was amazing, all in all i had a good evening. Thank you!"

  • "Its a nice place to get together with a few friends to have a nice catch up"
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "I have eaten at Satay many times, the food is always good plus the staff are friendly. My recent visit was with a friend who has not eaten at Satay before, my friend loved the food and, the cocktails. We'll definitely visit again soon."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "The Satay bar always offer great food and portions are large. It get's very busy so it is always advisable to book especially if you want to come on a weekend. They will only allow you to keep the table for 2 hours but the service is speedy so it gives plenty of time to finish the meal. It is a very noisy restaurant/bar so I wouldn't go there for a first date but it is great for a night out with your friends!"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "We waited quite a while to be served even though there weren't that many diners in the restaurant, we had to call the waiter over. But when we ordered the food came out fairly quickly."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "I visit Satay Bar as often as I can, but everytime I go the standard of the food seems to go down... I had the "very crispy" seabass and very very bland egg fried rice. Atmosphere is always lively and they definitely do the BEST cocktails in London."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Had a lovely time at satay bar. The service was excellent and the food was even better. Will definitely go back"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "We went before going to the Academy, food & service was excellent,"
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "First time here- booked it mostly as they had a decent happy hour and close to Brixton Academy so great for a pre-gig bite to eat. As an added bonus the food was absolutely delicious- shared some dishes between us: the tofu udon noodles, salmon teriyaki with coconut rice, chicken satay were all really tasty. Would definitely go back."
    dined on 11/02/2014
  • "I am a regular satay bar lover the service and ambience never fails me"
    dined on 17/05/2013
  • "One of our local favourites. Food excellent as always. Disappointed they changed their menu though, loved the "lazy beef rendang" they used to have on the menu which was my regular order, but they still do a great thai curry. Also, there seems to be a recurring issue with this particular restaurant that they don't seem to confirm diner attendance with toptable, for the second time I have had to contact toptable directly to let them know I did attend and therefore qualify for reward points. Sort it out, Satay Bar, in all other respects you're great."
    dined on 06/02/2014
  • "My friend and I were out for my birthday. We ordered the chicken wings, you are supposed to get 6 my friend got 5. Also we were overcharged on our bill. We ordered x2 ducks wraps and were charged for 3. Other than that Satay Bar is still my favourite place to go in South London because the food and cocktails are so good."
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "This is was my 2nd time at Satay Bar. It was really good. My friends and I loved it. The only thing that spoilt it was that after 2 hours we were chased out."
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "The food and service are excellent, the loaction is handy, and the cocktails are outstanding."
    dined on 03/02/2014
  • "Satay bar never let's me down, there Thai green curry always hits the spot! Fully enjoyed the cocktails as well! Big thimbs up!!!"
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Good for a quick bite, just what is needed to tickle your taste buds in a intimate and friendly setting . Appetizers were fantastic although the mains desired a touch more love of the craft. All in all a fantastic spot for a nibble and fantastic cocktails, a real hard find in this area of south London"
    dined on 31/01/2014
  • "My guests said the noodles were greasy and the coconut rice was really dry and crumbly. The teryaki salmon just tasted like soy sauce was poured over it. Wasn't a very enjoyable experience overall I am afraid. I have been to Satay bar in the past so was surprised that the food wasn't the usual standard."
    dined on 25/01/2014
  • "Unhappy the cha han has been removed. Keep trying different dishes but none compare. Tried vermicelli noodles and was awful, all I tasted was curry powder. Always get black pepper prawns on every visit but tasted re fried and very oily. Wondering what has happened in the kitchen.....did not pay service charge but usually do. Not worth the £70 spent!"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Satay always provide an amazing experience! Love it everytime"
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Great atmosphere, food is delicious. The service is a little uneven - our food came within 5 minutes but I was half way through my meal before we got our cocktails. They definitely need to speed up the bar service on busy nights."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "Food here is exceptional, service friendly and efficient, and prices very reasonable. Only downside is that it can get very noisy especially on Friday and Saturday."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "I went to satay with one of my friends. The cocktails and food are great. Really go for sharing place of different dishes. One thing that let me down was the service. After booking we where told we have the table for 2 hours yet after 1 hr 50mins we were asked to leave. (We had already asked for the bill and where left waiting) it was very rude to ask someone to leave even though we have the table till 9. I would recommend for the cocktails and good however I am hesitant to become a regular as I felt undervalued as a customer. Very busy loud atmosphere more for dinner with friends less romance!"
