A word from Sartori
A traditional Italian restaurant in the very centre of London, Sartori Restaurant is situated on Great Newport Street, just a minute’s walk from Leicester Square. With a lively, chilled out vibe and modern, cosy décor in earthy tones, this is the perfect post work stop off, allowing Londoners to let their hair down with a cocktail or two alongside excellent, high quality Italian food. Taking in the best of the country’s culinary favourites, Sartori prides itself on offering traditional dishes, a true expression of the vast and varied food landscape of Italy. Of particular note are Sartori’s utterly authentic pizzas, cooked in the restaurant’s custom built Strazzullo Michele wood-fired forno, described by blogger Young & Foodish as "the Stradivarius of pizza ovens". Diner Reviews
  • "Our party of 6 were well looked after and the food came in time for us to get through it comfortably before heading for the theatre. All our different choices (pasta, pizza etc) looked good and were equally enjoyed. The white wine (from the Marche Region) at the top of the list was excellent."

  • "Love the food at sartorial, been a few times! Authentic Italian..... Is quite a small restaurant though so can get a bit loud when full!"

  • "The pizza is great at Sartori and the starters are tasty and fresh. The only issue I have is the noise in the restaurant. It is just too much!"

  • "I normally avoid all restaurants in Leicester Sq area thinking they tourist traps - overpriced and not very good food. However I was nicely surprised by Sartori. The food is of a fair standard - doesn't blow you away but perfectly good, prices are reasonable (including the wine) and waiting staff are attentive and friendly. If you are wanting a restaurant in Leicester Sq for some reason then I would recommend this - but I'd say there are other places on other areas which are better."

  • "authentic Italian dishes and attentive service. the set menus are better deals than the regular priced menu. fresh tasting and lovely pizza oven."

  • "Authentic Italian pizzas, starters big enough to share, lovely service in a bustling atmosphere. On top of that the prices are great. Book to avoid queues. Perfect."

  • "The extensive menu contains many delights - the calamari were plentiful and the other starters were tasty and well-presented. My tuna steak was gloriously tender and the pizzas went down very well with my dining companions. There were plenty of Italians there, which is probably a good sign, and the service was excellent. My only small gripe is that the atmosphere isn't nearly as good downstairs as upstairs - we were near the pizza oven and it felt rather stuffy and not particularly well ventilated, with the very closely packed tables adding to the slightly claustrophobic feel. I'll definitely be back soon, but I'll insist on an upstairs table."

  • "The anti pasta selection in Sartori is second to none in the UK. The plate is full of peppers, anchovies, aubergine, spinach etc and it is all delicious. I have to always sacrifice not being able to eat dessert to finish the starter ! The prosecco is fresh and tasty and the pizza is always amazing"

  • "Sartori is the best Italian Restaurant in London and despite this is not very expensive. Food is 100% Italian and they make many courses. Probably the best pizza in London. Service is fast and all the people are very friendly. It's better to book if you go for dinner."

  • "The pizza was outstanding. Good ingredients, well cooked and super tasty. Service was all-right, a bit cold but the quality of the pizza made up for it. Definitely going to return on a regular basis"

  • "The manager was very nice and presented med hospitality with out a doubt! Food wasn't to my expectations! Maybe because it was a busy Sunday evening? I dunno ? I was recommended the place for its pizza's ! Maybe I give such a review because We tried everything BUT their pizza! Maybe give it another go and try out their pizzas ! Service charge should be at the dinners discretion, similar to how carlousio do Electronically notifies with card payment process, not just forced on the final bill Generally we feel no i ssue to pay such charges when dinning in quality Resturant ! Unfortunatly I rate your establishment as a fast Italian food Carlousio still rocks in my books"

  • "Second time I have been here and will be back. Proper Italian food including v. good pizza from woodfired oven. Very handy for the theatre. Friendly efficient service."

  • "Good location, very loud, nice staff, poor food. Don't get creative and just order a regular pizza. I ordered the house special pizza (closed like a calzone, no sauce) and it was awful. My husband's swordfish was not fresh."

  • "The restaurant was busy as it was a Saturday night, but this didn't stop the staff being very attentive, friendly and helpful. The choice of food was varied and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was good and all of our group enjoyed the meal. One commented it was lush and would highly recommend it."

  • "Sartori is a great restaurant and has become one of my go-to places if I find myself going out near Leicester Square and in need of somewhere for dinner. Good quality italian food; cheerful service; and very generous plates at extremely reasonable prices. All of this combined with - outstandingly - a restaurant that is twenty paces from Leicester Square station and always miraculously seems to have spare tables and welcome you in with open arms. In fact, I'm reluctant to submit this review for fear that people will read it and more of you will start coming to Sartori. Then I won't be able to get a table any more, and I shall be sad."

  • "Was pleasantly surprised by Sartori and the food was good - I had doubts due to the location. Would definitely visit again if in the area and in the mood for Italian."

  • "I love this place. It has yet to disappoint.... in my tipsy state I even ordered the wrong main course (the waiter and I misunderstood each other) - but it wasn't a problem my meal was changed and my friends was whisked away and brought back when my dish was ready - the sign of a very good kitchen. The staff are lovely and fun; this place is a wonderful addition to the bustling area of Leicester Square. Will I go back? - of course it will.... and soon (I hope!)"

  • "I have been going to Sartori for years. I am always welcomed back like a long-lost friend and the food has never disappointed. In fact it always amazes me how consistently good the food is. Simple and well executed southern italian food. Delicious stuff!"

  • "A very good experience overall. Staff very friendly, food always good!"
    dined on 20/01/2014
  • "The food was good, and my espresso martini was delicious. I would definitely go back - my only reservation is that the restaurant is almost a victim of its own success in as much as it's very noisy - it was quite tricky at times to hear what my dining companion was saying."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "Went for a pre theatre meal - booked based on previous reviews. Have to say it did not live up to comments. Food was ordinary and everything was bit rushed - won't be back."
    dined on 10/01/2014
  • "My friend and I met for lunch in Sartori and stayed for 3 hours. The food was great, the service was good and best of all there was no sense that we were being rushed to finish our meal. I really appreciated the fact that the staff were there when we wanted to be served but left us to it when we were relaxing."

  • "I took my son who is 2-year-old to this restaurant. Staff were very kind and we could spend happy time. Lunch is very reasonable and especcially pizza was very tasty!!"

  • "Satori is great value and an excellent place for pre-theatre. Good traditional Italian food and plentiful. The portions are huge! Service is attentive and you are not rushed in anyway."
    dined on 04/01/2014
  • "We had starters and shared three metre-long pizzas between a group of adults. All the food was great and service was friendly. Can recommend the cocktails, the antipasti and the giant pizzas... Made for a sense of occasion to have something to share and it was well-priced for tasty food."
    dined on 21/12/2013
  • "This is the best Italian restaurant outside of Italy. The antipasta was delicious and the pizza was the best I have had in London. Prices very reasonable and service good and friendly."
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "Went for a business lunch mid-week. Wide range of dishes on the menu including their famous 1 metre long pizzas for sharing. We didn't have pizza - I had calves liver and my colleagues had rib-eye steak and sea bass. All good quality though my liver was pretty small portion for the price. Excellent Barbera to wash all down - given the convenient location next to Leicester Square tube and most theatres, am sure it will be a popular choice"

  • "Our party really enjoyed their pre-theatre meal. Good choice on the menu, good sized servings and excellent value for money. A great start to the evening!"

  • "Lived up to it's reviews for homemade woodfired pizza. Definitely one of the best in London and by far the best I have tried in the West End. The very friendly and efficient service was a lovely change from some of the many West End dining experiences we have had in the past, especially pre-theatre. Try it, you won't regret it!"
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "The pizzas here are quite outstanding. The metres of pizza are fun, while the panuozzo (panuozzi?) are delicious and unusual. They also do a tasty rolled pizza. Yum!"
    dined on 12/11/2013
  • "Everything just like in Italy..besides the prices, but all worth it :D Definitely try the antipasto misto and pizza! Delight!"
    dined on 08/11/2013
  • "A Neapolitan friend recommended this place saying it the best pizza in London. He knows his pizza and this place did not disappoint. I shared the half foot pizza and it was beautifully cooked and the best pizza I have had outside of Italy and New York for that matter. Good place for a date. Friendly staff that are attentively but not intrusive. Good wine selection."
