AS always you know what you
AS always you know what you are going to get here at Zedel. EXcellent service, nice food. Beautiful room. Excellent for a pre theatre supper as service is fast.
Fabulous and grand
Booked Brasserie Zedel for catch up with girlfriends. What a fabulous place. Felt like Balthazars but on a grander scale. Was very happy with the separate vegetarian menu. We all had the pumpkin soup to start which was lovely. I had the artichoke main (which ok but not brilliant unfortunately, but I put that down to my choice) friends had various fish options which they liked. Our server helped with wine choice and was spot on. Due to having to give tableback, we were very kindy escourted to the Bar Americain and felt we had stepped in to the great gastby era!
Staff were courteous and friendly.
We all enjoyed the evening and would def return
A slice of Paris in Piccadilly!
Wonderful ambiance, outstandingly good value and fine French fare. One to take the parents to when they're in town, or a quick pre-theatre supper.
Great food but service variable
Wonderful food in a glorious setting but service was a bit lacking - delays in getting starters (a cold salad and oysters!) and vegetables that did not arrive with the meal.....clearly the B team are working on Mondays!
This place is a real stunner for appearances. Take someone you want to impress. Dining in the grand style. Sumptuous surroundings but no natural light as it's below ground. Food is fine but some portions e arsmall for a brasserie.
Great design, tables just about the right distance apart, great buzz. You can be comfortable as a couple as well as in a small group. The food is good honest French stuff - very nice. The service was inconsistent. It took ages for someone to take a drinks order. When we ordered a bottle of wine the waitress turned up with a glass of wine! As a party of four, you'd think they might have realised that was wrong. We then felt hassled over dessert with the waitress reappearing so frequently and tutting when we said we needed longer. We didn't have a great table. Right next to the service area and when a breakage occurred that sent glass under the table it felt too close. They were very apologetic. Overall, a great place. Would recommend.
One of my favourites
This was my third visit to Brasserie Zedel and I just love it, great food at amazing prices, terrific buzzy atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff.
This is a perfect restaurant for pre theatre dinner. Very efficient staff but not pushy. Delicious food and the atmosphere was authentically French. I thought it was good value for money. We loved it. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.
GETTING IT RIGHT
This is what all restaurants should aspire to. Whatever the level of the food on offer, it should have great ambience, beautiful surroundings and fantastic service. That's what the Delaunay delivers (and I'm a serial guest!). The food isn't haute cuisine, and doesn't aspire to be - but it's always great. And the staff - wonderful! Go there!!!
We enjoyed our lunch at brasserie
We enjoyed our lunch at brasserie Zedel - it has a lovely art deco feel and thought it was good value for money with prompt and friendly service. We were celebrating our daughters birthday and they kindly piped Happy Birthday on their desert plates
which as a thoughtful touch.
Would definitely recommend.
An elegant spot for dining
Brasserie Zedel is right off Piccadilly Circus and is a dependable place for a good meal at a leisurely pace in one of London's busiest areas. Try the choucroute, a house specialty. All three are good, and the seafood is great.
Brasserie Zedel is perfect at any time, and none more than for a pre-theatre dinner. Great food at brilliant prices, attentive service and a wonderful ambience and décor. Much recommended.
Zedel is Excellent all round
The food is fresh, decent portions and comes quickly and is hot. The service and ambience are spot on with amazing value - go and eat well
brasserie with a buzz
we have eaten at Zedel a few times now and never been disappointed. Tremendous value and atmosphere so close to the heart of Piccadilly.
What a first rate experience.
What a first rate experience. A real treat at a sensible price and what a great find.
This brasserie was recommended to me by a friend, the decor is fantastic especially if you like Art Deco ,we'll worth going in to see that alone.we went on Saturday early evening and it was very busy, the service was top draw and the food very good.I will certainly go back and use there cocktail bar as well .get yourself there and "enjoy"
Glittering and Gorgeous
My favourite restaurant in London. The maitre d' and many of the staff are now almost friends as they same team has been there for a couple of years now. The Front of House even re-charged my Iphone. We had the great set meal, with an special extra. The Apple Tart with ice crean - heaven, and a glass of dessert wine. Double Heaven.
I changed my order from a previous average experience (beef overcooked in the bourgignon and escargots oversauced) and had the soupe de poisson and steak hache. Both were very good and as always the service was first class.
Great value for money before Theatr
Great value for money before Theatre. Great location!
Excellent value for money
Excellent value for money and the food was delicious. It felt like we were in France!
unique dinning experience
A bit of the showbiz setting. Food was OK - could be improved. Service is prompt.
We will return.
I love the special atmosphere generated by the decor and high ceilings coupled with the French feel of cafe dining. The variety of dishes on offer means that you need to return and try them all out. It may seem passe, but I loved the French onion soup and the steak with pepper sauce was gorgeous. The four people dining were unanimous in their praise of the food (all different choices) together with the friendly attentive service and resonablness of the cost.
Best place in town
Brasserie Zedel is my favourite restaurant in London. I eat out a lot, and while the food here is not incredible (although the menu is vast, with a separate one available for vegetarians), the whole experience is just fantastic when having dinner with friends. It's incredibly good value (especially considering the location - there are starters available for £3, for example), and the atmosphere in the stunning dining room is unmatched even in its sister-venues of the Wolesley and Delauney. The wine list allows for any type of budget, and the service is excellent.
There are few occasions where this restaurant would not be an ideal choice; and try the (slightly more pricey) cocktail bar attached to it too for an excellent range of tipples!
Lovely lunch at Brasserie
Lovely lunch at Brasserie Zedel - service excellent and food very good. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely location, good food
Lovely ambiance, fantastic service, great location. The food was ok - not 5 stars but good, and I suspect that there are items on the menu that are indeed excellent - will have to go back and try to uncover them. Overall a tasty evening and would recommend.
Elegant setting with wonderful
Elegant setting with wonderful staff. The food is excellent for the price and cant wait to return!
Another great meal
Been to Brasserie Zedel a few times now. Perfect place to head with a group especially if you request one of the round tables at the centre. It was my birthday so a nice touch was them giving me a dessert with a birthday message. The menu has slightly changed since I was last there. I ordered the onglet which I found to be disappointingly tough. Usually the steak here is good. I preferred the old recipe. Nonetheless the service and ambience remain excellent here. A hidden gem in the heart of Piccadilly.
Lavishly over the top surroundings make this place a bit cartoonish, but it's all the more fun for it... The food was absolutely fine, and really good value - portions were large, prices cheap and quality was good.
Very impressed. Authentic french brasserie feel. Large seating area but good buzzy atmosphere and unusually the tables weren't packed close together. Food was very good and well priced. I have french onion soup and a very nice steak, cooked in french style. Nice wine list and also sensibly priced. Would recommend.
A most enjoyable experience
Not a regular visitor to London but this was a special occasion so everything had to be just right and Zedels ticked all the boxes for a pre-theatre lunch. Service was prompt without being hurried and the décor was impressive. Food wasn't in large quantities (so don't arrive looking for a Desperate Dan meal) but it was enough for lunch and what there was very tasty. 5 stars for the staff who were very attentive and looked very smart.
Lovely family Sunday lunch
Great lunch for the whole family - a child friendly menu without pandering to them too much! And very nice steaks....
Central London location
Buzzy French -style brasserie in the heart of London. Stunning old-world interior with very good value food and attentive, rapid service.
Great venue for pre theatre dinner
The efficiency of service and the sensible portion size of the meals means that it is possible to have two courses and coffee and get the theatre In good time having only sat down to dinner at 6.15
Since discovering Zedel six months ago I've been 4 times. It has amazing wow factor so is perfect when you have friends in town. The food isn't amazing but it doesn't pretend to be and it's good. And it's great value. Where else in the west end can you get a 3 course meal with wine for £40 a head in such amazing surroundings and with such great service? The steak, lamb and trout were all really good, the puddings delicious especially the opera cake. The wine very affordable and the frogs legs surprisingly good too! I love it! I'll be back!
8/10 French Restaurant
Went to this restaurant on Sunday night with my gf. We decided on there as we had never been before but had seen good reviews. The restaurant is in a lovely building and it has been decorated in a great way keeping a lot of the original features of the building.
The staff were very nice and speak to you regarding the building and the food etc and were very polite. The food was very good but in some places not great. the fresh french bread and butter is very nice, starters were good. My main was a hanger steak but it was quite chewy in places but had a lovely sauce with it. for desert we shared a tartetatin and it was a big portion. The caramel was ever so slightly burnt which was a shame but we still ate it. overall we would return.
Great dinner in an impressive room
Had dinner here with a friend on Wednesday night. The food was excellent - very French and the dining room (actually the whole place) was very impressive. This isn't an intimate affair kind of place though - its huge and there are a lot of people in here. So go with a good friend rather than on a first date but it's definitely worth checking out!
Outstanding x 6!
I have given a five star rating for outstanding performance in value, ambience, service, food and the overall experience of dining at Zédel, and every one of them is deserved. Friends only recently introduced me to Zédel, about which I had heard mixed opinions, but I would have awarded five outstandings for that evening, too. So, it struck me as the perfect post-Lion King restaurant for dinner with my 17-year old grandson. We both enjoyed our three courses, Jack the parfait de foie de volaille, champagne chicken and a lemon tart, while I chose endive and Roquefort salad, duck and vanilla slice. All the staff were delightful, looking after us beautifully, which enhanced an already smashing evening, so smiles earn a sixth outstanding.
Good value tasty food.
Very nice setting, soups and meat dishse very tasty and great value for money.
A tardis of a venue
Finding Zedel is easy. Just off Piccadilly circus by way of the big Boots chemist. What the modest entrance does not prepare you for is the cavernous basement which branches off to Zedel brasserie, the American Bar and a cabaret space. Exquisitely refurbished, the brasserie almost transports you to Paris. The atmosphere is casual yet camp with everyone seemingly having a fab time. The food for such a large dining space was prompt and hot. The waiter misheard medium to rare chateaubriand to mean medium to well done but that was quickly rectified with fresh hot fries accompanying the reorder. Nice. Good well oiled operation. I most certainly will be back.
london's hidden gem
We had a family lunch here on Sunday and it was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The service is one of the best I have experienced in London. Our glasses were never empty. Our party hadnt seen eachother for a long time so we took our time chatting and hence slow ordering and eating. The waiters were extremely patient and accommodating. I absolutely love the venue and felt like I was n Paris, great vibe. The food was really good. We had a few starters to share. The fish soup, Escargot, pate, pumpkin soup were delicious and couldnt fault them. the lamb, the hanger steak and the fish were also equally delicious again couldnt fault it. To finish the Ile Flottante and Gateau Opera were divine, Will definitely be back!
5th visit; still as good............................tho' bring back the pissaladiere.
Good for Pre-Theatre
We went to Brasserie Zedel for a pre-theatre dinner, so we didn't have much time. When they showed us to our table they commented that they had a note that we had to leave by 7.15pm which was reassuring. The service was very efficient without feeling rushed and the food was very good. The restaurant décor is also quite grand and impressive. All in all a lovely meal and would definitely go back.
excellent catch up lunch with a friend and her grandson - attentive and baby friendly staff!
Great room good buzz
Great room. Good buzz. Excellent value for location.
Great atmosphere in a beautiful place. Such a lot of choice on the menu with some more unusual dishes. Lovely food and so reasonable for the standard.
Service was a little slow but we were well dealt with and it was particularly busy that evening.
Ideal for a great meal and a post dinner cocktail in the bar next door.
Nice place, good food, very goo ser
Good food, good choice, very good service, the place is very nice. Might be a bit too famous now as we noticed the price of the big hits has increased quite a lot which make it not the good value place it used to be a few months ago.
Lunch at Brasserie Zedel
Having been to this restaurant twice before, I took 3 friends for their first visit. As you descend from the small cafe at street level you do not expect the sight of the cavernous restaurant downstairs, and, I'm sure that like most people who visit Brasserie Zedel for the first time, my friends were blown away by the place. The restaurant was packed at 2.00pm which made for a fantastic ambience. The food was very good, particularly the starter of foie de volaille. Also, the waiting staff were very efficient and helpful with the menu and wines, even though it was so busy. It is good value, especially considering it is right in the heart of London near Picadilly Circus.
Loved the decor
And the food wasn't bad either. I ordered the hanger steak, which had loads of flavour, and friends were quite happy with the choucroute. We ended with dessert (impressive profiteroles and meringue+chestnut ice cream), which was the perfect compliment to our mains.
A revisit to.Brasserie Zedel
We were not disappointed by our lunch at Zedel. We had been a few times before but not for at least six months. As good as before. I had the Prix fixe lunch (carrot salad and then steak hache -excellent taste and value). My husband the special (shoulder of lamb). Again excellent. Bit of a delay in getting our main course (I think they forgot it) but they came and apologised and it was really no problem. Will certainly be back.
This was my first time eating
This was my first time eating at Zedel. Food was good but the service was a bit rushed. We ordered and within 5 mins our mains were in front of us. Hence i would worry about the 'freshness' of the food. There was NO WAY they could have cooked the food in 5 mins. It tasted ok however, so perhaps they just prepare the meals. The live music looked good fun too, so may try that next time.
