We had a fabulous time at Duck & Waffle! Came for lunch to celebrate a 40th birthday. Had mentioned on the top table booking that it was a special occasion and got a great table by the window, and outstanding service, included a little birthday treat at the end. Food was innovative and truly tasty, all of this with an outstanding view. Would definitely recommend!
amazing! must try it for the
amazing! must try it for the lovely food and the outstanding view!!! food was excellent!
Amazing views & food
We booked here for our Wedding anniversary and weren't disappointed. I had emailed ahead and asked for a table with a nice view and had an amazing table waiting for us on arrival, right by one of the windows with incredible views of the city, London bridge, The Gherkin Etc. stunning. The service was also fantastic and the staff made our anniversary feel very special. Food was lovely (really recommend the duck & waffle!) and lived up to reputation.
Duck and waffle review
Had a fabulous time. Thoroughly recommended (especially if you are seated by the floor to ceiling windows - amazing views). Watch out for the lift though - felt a little queasy on the way up the 40th floor!
Great for a romantic breakfast
We went along to Duck & Waffle for a weekday breakfast to celebrate my husbands birthday. The excellent service began upon arrival when without us even requesting the staff organised for us to be moved to a window seat as soon as one became available. The food was very decadent for breakfast but great for a special occasion. We ordered the signature Duck and Waffle dish, and the Pbj/Fat boy combination - both were excellent twists on breakfast classics. Would highly recommend.
Food great, service lacking
I arrived early and was told to take a set in the bar. The table had not been clearer & it was 15 minutes before I eventually persuaded a waiter to bring a cocktail list. I then had to wait in line to order. When we moved to the restaurant we seemed to be the only people whose coats weren't taken, I was starting to get frustrated.
However, our waitress was great and there was plenty of choice on the menu although unfortunately the ox cheek doughnut wasn't available. The rillete would have benefited from more toast & the beetroot wasn't quite exciting enough. We waited a long time for our drinks so we were told they were on the house. Food was great but service could have been better & I hope it will be next time.
Delicious dining experience.
Delicious dining experience. An incredible view and ambience, impeccable service. The cocktail list has a different take on some classics as well as some inventive new ones with fresh and exciting ingredients. The different dishes on the menu were creative taste sensation and I cannot reccommend the restaurant more highly.
Well worth every penny spent (and there were a few).
Amazing service and delicious food
We visited this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. There were high expectations and we definitely weren't disappointed. We were given window seats with a nice view, a very attentive and personable waiter and the food was delicious. The drinks were a bit overpriced but that's to be expected in that sort of location. We'll be dining here again and for sure recommending the restaurant to friends.
Will go back
Cool trendy and awesome location and view - 40th floor in the city
Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Amazing views over London, great, inventive dishes and attentive service. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and somewhere I wouldn't hesitate to go back to.
High in the London Sky
Booked for a breakfast session but got contacted if I would confirm my evening booking It ended all in answering machine terror
Anyway on D Day all was well set . Perfect morning ,perfect company and a delightful view and ditto breakfast on the
40 th floor
Next to the elevator prices got a lift too as I found the price for not fresh orange juice op 5 GBP far over the top
Coffee room for improvement but waffle ,duck & egg were of superb quality
Staff friendly &helpful
The experience as such was absolutely worth the money , drinks could be improved
Nice brunch with a friend
The view is so beautiful, the food is very good and waiters are nice. Only Negative point: the wine which is very expensive...
The menus items seem a little unnecessarily over complicated to me, but execution is decent. When you read the menu, you just know that even the most 'normal' item — in this case a Full English — will be overly fancy-fied. But the main reason to go is the outstanding view. For such (relatively) reasonable prices for breakfast and brunch (I have only had breakfast and brunch there), I can't imagine anywhere else with better views in central London. Spectacular!
just a great experience, with a table by the window, helpful service and food from heaven! Foie gras brulee was a perfect way to start and amazing dishes kept coming right to the end with a shared desert. Sunshine and unrivaled views over London just made it a day to remember.
We wanted to bring our visiting guest to a restaurant that would impress and make a special night more special.
We were not disappointed!
Apart from the amazing view and design, the food was out of this world.
One tip, don't bother with the other mains, just order the Duck & Waffle - simple!
High quality food, high in the sky
We specifically booked Duck & Waffle for Sunday brunch after reading reviews about it in Time Out. It didn't disappoint and, in fact, exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent and the brunch menu offered so many exciting and tantalizing options, it was difficult to choose just one dish. The toasted PBJ with a fried duck egg and caramelised bacon on top was especially good, as were the sausages in the full English breakfast dishes. The service was efficient and top-notch - the waiter went out of his way to make a special request of the kitchen for a picky eater in our group and our glasses were refilled with tap water throughout the meal without our having to ask (a rarity in London!). Very reasonable prices as well (£9-£15 mains).
Brilliant experience, big surprise
Loved this place, fantastic location on a bright day or in evening, and food and service was brilliant.
Loved the Duck and Waffle, amazing combination and everything cooked to perfection.
Bread was delicious but over priced.
Great meal would highly recommend. Its a sharing experience so go with people your comfortable sharing food with.
Absolutely incredible dining experience mainly due to the views of the city. If you can request a window table, do because you can happily sit and stare and the view for hours. Duck and waffle for main is yummy and the pheasent small plat is spectacular!!!
Would come again!
It was a little crowded (and noisy) when we went, more so than I expected at least, since it was about 3+pm when we went.
We ordered a plate of Duck and Waffle each - amazing. Highly recommend it! The duck was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside - loved it! Could have eaten another plate.
We also got the Pollock Meat Balls in Lobster Cream. Unfortunately, all 3 of us thought it was quite a bad dish... So I'd recommend others not to get it for sure. I love lobster and I thought it'd be interesting to taste how the lobster cream was, but it didn't quite work out well.
We also had 2 desserts to share: dark chocolate brownie with ice cream and tiramisu. Both were great! Paid £30 each.
The service was great, staff attentive!
Out of this world
An outstanding, not to be missed experience made even better with the incredible sunshine we were blessed with on the day to really take in that amazing view. The food was incredible, the staff were amazing - I will be finding an excuse I can to keep coming back time and time again.
Tasty food in a beautiful
Tasty food in a beautiful setting - highly recommend for a weekend brunch.
Has a wonderful meal here for a birthday. The views were incredible and the service was brilliant. Will definitely go again
What a view
FantAstic location at the top of the heron tower, overlooking the whole of London and even looking down on the gherkin. The food was very different and wonderfully presented. The service in the bar was rather slow and no set place to order a drink you were left to stand around waiting Nd hoping to be served, the drinks had still not arrived when we were asked to sit at the table. The service in the restaurant for the food was faultless our waiters were charming (again they were let down by the bar staff). Considering restaurants make money on alcohol you would think the bar would be ably manned!!! We were offered a selection of deserts by the management as a gesture for keeping us waiting which was very nice. Would def go back.
This place is a great value
This place is a great value for money with exceptional view and great service. We've came around for my boyfriend's birthday, unfortunately everything but 11.30 pm was booked out, so by then we didnt feel like eating but had some drinks. We were asked in a very polite way to order something in order to keep a table and even had a small dessert with a candle and a little happy bday song from the restaurant. Would definately come here again for bfast or sunset since the menue seems great, especially the value...should investigate on which side the sun goes up and down though :)
Who needs the Shard !!
A great place to visit for that special meal. The surroundings are breathtaking as you look out over the city. My wife had to put up with the views of the Thames meandering around the Isle of Dogs, London Bridge, The Tower of London and people ice skating at the Xmas skating ring at the tower. The food was served by very polite and helpful staff. The atmosphere was that of a full but not overcrowded restaurant. You are given time to make your selection and when it arrives is presented very tastefully. There was a selection from breakfast to brunch. Our was the English and we were not disappointed. All in all a very pleasant experience and we will be returning. Many thanks to the staff.
great views of london
had an amazing lunch at duck and waffle. the service was great - the staff were so helpful.
the known dish of 'duck and waffle' was amazing! defo would go again.
nice Monday brunch
We really appreciated the location of our table: on the corner close to the window, which gave us a very beautiful vue of London.
The food was good, the service very nice.
the room wasn't crowded so it was a nice time to spend.
Weird but tastes so good!
We had a lovely meal, ate pigs ears, raw fillet of beef, foie gras and of course the famous duck and waffle! It all tastes so good, and the service was fab. Be adventurous and try something new!
Great food with fantastic view
We were in London on our honeymoon and Duck and Waffle was a fabulous place to have dinner as well as drinks afterwards. We stayed in the bar area after dinner and our server was fantastic at recommending different drinks for us to try out. The fact that it is open later in a city that most bars close relatively early is also great! Cabs were easily accessible after leaving.
I went to D&F with a friend for dinner.First five minutes we were looking around with mouth opened as the view of a London was breathtaking. We took beetroot with goat cheese and octopus for starters, and duck for the main course, then we went for baked Alaska and ice-cream.The food was very delicious and the service was outstanding.Highly recommended!will definitely go there again.
Amazing way to start a day on the 40th floor. Experience starts from getting in the lift with a super fast journey to the 40th floor. A little odd to be faced with toilets instead of reception staff once on the right floor but view from the restaurant is amazing. Food was good too. Portion sizes are not too big, but more than enough to fill you up for the day. Gets busier from about 7.30am onwards with lots of suited city folk. Highly recommended for a special occasion, even if it means getting up at 6am for breakfast.
Tasty dishes & well presented. Was given a table with a great view of surrounds, which enhanced the overall experience. Suitable eaterie for young and old alike. Service was pleasant, helpful & co-operative when we asked for special favours. Ordered too much but no problem with providing us with a doggy bag. A very enjoyable meal!
Amazing view from Duck & Waffle
I took clients to Duck and Waffle and we were given the private room, which has an amazing view and the sun streamed straight in. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the roasted chicken and the duck and waffle. Tried some interesting things such as pig ears, ox cheek and pig head. I wouldn't recommend this place for vegetarians! But worth going for the good food and the view.
Duck and Waffle
amazing experience, views out over london. Food lovely and great staff, well worth the trip to the 40th floor.
The food was very good, especially
The food was very good, especially the duck egg en cocotte. The views of London at night time were amazing too!
What a view!
You feel dizzy going up in the lift, but what a great view when you get to the top! We had the signature 'duck and waffle' dish - delicious. The other food was variable - pollock fishballs (neither of us enjoyed this), duck egg en cocotte (good), crispy pig ears (good), bacon wrapped dates (OK), baked alaska (good).
Definitely something to try!
Duck and Waffle as a dish might sound a bit funny but in fact the combination is pretty good. How we all know, the combination between sweet + saltiness always works if it's well balanced! Their signature dish might be the perfect one to experience this good balance.
Also, this is such a pretty place to visit. Worth visiting here.
Brilliant afternoon catching
Brilliant afternoon catching up with the girlfriends, brunching and giggling over cocktails - looking forward to going back again!
Great early evening dinner
We went at 3:30 and and saw the beautiful view of London in daylight and into the evening. Great time to go so you see the twinkling lights. Amazing food, I could've tried every dish.
The staff were great. Which
The staff were great. Which is rare in London. The food was inventive and delicious. Can't wait to go back. The only sad part is that it is so popular you need to book a couple weeks in advance.
really welcoming staff
stunning view of the sunrise at half 7 in the morning
really good coffee
good value for all of the above :)
another great breakfast, the
another great breakfast, the views are just stunning!
Superb service and yummy food!
I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Yummy food, even better service and an unbelievable view, all for an extremely reasonable price.
The only way is up up up!!!
The ride in the elevator was the first thrill, followed by a beautiful view while sitting in the bar having a glass of champagne. The Oystyers, not usually my favorite, were perfect, followed by a very tasty watercress and goats cheese salad and a baby octupus with chorizo salad I am still dreaming of! We topped this off with the signature dish - 'Duck & waffle' - suited me very much as I love the mix of sweet and savory which this definitely had. Sez, our lovely waiter, kindly sliced all the meat off the bone for us and split it evenly in two. My only real niggle was the wine - although a good choice by the sommelier, I was not very happy to be paying £55 for a 2011 bottle of beujolais! Still the rest of the experience was well worth it!
Great atmosphere, friendly
Great atmosphere, friendly & attentive service and delicious Belgian waffles; loved it!
An experience +++
A nice 1 hour snack and drink experience with a friend which was worth the amount spent on the food considering the view and the atmosphere provided. Yes, i would highly recommend!
The view was outstanding! The food was a bit pricey for me but we ended up paying £35 each for 2 glasses of wine, 2 starters and 2 mains.
Good service and quick service!
Lovely food on top of that!
I would definitely recommend and will go back there again for sure!
A real London night out
Its hard not to have expectations before going to a place like this...I wanted a wow factor to match the occasion I was planning for. The restaurant and staff overdelivered on every count. It was for a teenagers birthday dinner and the look on her face on sitting down at the table was priceless, its a million dollar view in every direction. The staff were accomodating and so knowledgable. The music was suitable for the Generation X'ers that made up most of the clientele. I had a fantastic night out and was reminded why London is one of the world premiere cities.
Amazing views, amazing foods!
Perfect place for special occasions. Food is exquisite but the wine is very expensive
