Another great meal at Crompton's at the Olive Branch in Horsham - friendly service and lovely food, much better than you would expect from a "pub" dining room!
Family occasion dinner
Despite appalling weather conditions outside of Cromptons, we were greeted with a warm welcome and were seated according to my booking request. The service was excellent and only exceeded in quality by the standard of food. Although a somewhat restricted menu all of my guests agreed that all tastes were catered for and everyone returned clean plates after each course! A perfect celebration evening, relaxed and informal. If your choice is `fast food` then go somewhere else.
Great food, nice place
Well worth a visit to Cromptons for the tastiest food and friendliest service.
Great restuarant pub. In my
Great restuarant pub. In my opinion the best place to eat in Horsham town centre (by some margin). Friendly staff, good food, nice service - highly recommended.
Slower than usual...
Cromptons in Horsham provided great food in a nice atmosphere (again) but the service was very slow - although friendly and knowledgable. We waited 30 minutes to start to have our order taken and then our server disappeared for another 15 minutes before finishing taking the order - so over an hour from arriving and starting to eat - and this was Saturday lunchtime and the place was only 50% full.
We could see 3 chefs working away but only one waiter at first, although some extra help appeared towards the end of our long lunch.
This is unusual - we've eaten there a few times - and the food was excellent, so let's hope it was a one off problem. Still happy to recommend.
feels more like a club
a town pub which not only leaves all other town pubs behind with its ambience , beautiful log fires and wooden beams , but the service and treatment you recieve is second to none ...... , nothing is too much trouble
This the second time I have
This the second time I have visited The Olive Branch, its an idea place to catch up with friends over a meal.
Superb service and food!
What a wonderful place to eat! The staff couldn't do enough for us, although we had to wait quite a while for our good it was definatly worth the wait!
I recommend dining her! 5star!
Valentines special menu
The food was great, the service was great, the staff were very attentive and helpful, the food was presented to a high level and tasted great! We would both recommend the chips! The evening was great and everything went very very well thank you!
We had a wonderful lunch last week, the food was amazing and the service was outstanding, the team really do go above and beyond!
We cannot wait to visit again!
I dined at Crompton's at the Olive Branch on Sunday for Mother's Day. The owner is extremely personable and good humoured, without being overbearing, and made us feel extremely welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff charming. I would recommend highly.
Excellent service, no rush or pushiness but there when you wanted them to be. Lovely food enjoyed by all 6 of us
At last some service
It's no wonder they are a busy bar and restaurant, the whole experience was exceptional from when we arrived to when we left, this is one review I'm lothed to give as its a secret I don't want to share. Service, quality and value for money are words early found today but the experience had there by my date and I will always be remembered. There were no if buts or maybes it was the perfect night.
went sunday for a girlie lunch
went sunday for a girlie lunch ...... shared a platter for starter( think it was 7.95) includes whole baked camembert, beautiful olives ,lots of bread and other great nibbles, great value we didn`t really need our main .....
perfect setting overlooking the garden ..... a great afternnoon
My friend and I had a lovely evening at the Olive Branch. The staff were very friendly and the food and service very good. It is hard to give any more information as we were the only 2 diners that night! We said that we would be having another meal in the future so if they are busier I will be able to give more comments if anything was different.
I went to Crompton's for dinner
I went to Crompton's for dinner on a Monday night on the recommendation of a friend from work. Despite Monday not being the busiest night of the week, I found the restaurant had a nice feel to it and the atmosphere was not lacking because of it. The food we had during dinner was excellent and the waiter and waitress who were serving us were helpful and friendly. After dinner we popped into the bar area next door and had a cocktail to end the evening. A great experience and I would certainly recommend Crompton's and I will be returning in the future.
Food & Music-Saviours of (the) Soul
Sunday lunch celebrating a special birthday. Two beautifully cooked and presented Sunday roasts to choose from plus an excellent selection of other mains and lighter meals for those who had already had a hearty breakfast! Special dietary needs catered for with no fuss. The pannacotta was very popular as there was none left for us late lunchers but the gooey chocolate brownie was an excellent second choice! Service was attentive but not intrusive. All our meals arrived piping hot although one just a little behind the others which was not ideal.
The afternoon perfectly rounded off with 3 hours of exceptional music from the Saviours of Soul. If you were still peckish, you could always take advantage of the delicious BBQ! Highly recommended!
Slow again at Cromptons
We come for the great food and friendly staff - unfortunately there's never enough of them! Waited 10 minutes to get seated in a virtually empty dining room, waited another 20 to order.
Slow service more than balanced out by the excellent, tasty food - this is michelin star food in a pub!
Come on Mr C - get some more staff in when it's busy (and congratulate the chefs).
A touch of Down Under in Horsham
We had never visited Cromptons before and was reminded by Andrew, the owner that it was the old Green Dragon pub which has been completely renovated and transformed but done in a sympathetic way retaining many of the old oak beams. We were greeted hospitably on arrival and although it was an exceptionally busy night the service continued to be good and attentive. The menu was limited but very well presented and cooked - I had the belly of pork as a starter and traditional fish and chips for mains. The chips are really chunky and quite delicious as was the fish. The wine was expensive and put the cost of the overall meal for two up to over £70. It was an enjoyable meal and I would certainly eat there again and recommend it to other diners.
Not your regular pub dinner
Cute little pub in the centre of the town. Staff were friendly but not pushy. We sat by the Window which was overlooking the back garden and beautiful as the sun set. Not a massive amount of vegetarian choice but what we had was delicious.
Dining at Cromptons is usually a pleasure and our evening out was no exception. A very helpful welcome and an attractive new menu. The menu is small but the `tapas` style recommendations for starters/mains is excellent. Food standards were, with one exception, high, the salmon dish in particular was very well received by two of my guests. Puddings and drinks well thought out. In summary a good value sociable evening with no complaints only praise from my table companions.
Nice pub atmosphere
Went with friends for a mid week supper. Service fast, friendly and attentive. Food very nice, freshly cooked, though menu not extensive. Bill bit pricey for fish and chips etc, but mainly down to price of wine. Food prices reasonable. Food well cooked and presented with chef on show. Slight downside is kitchen noise and though atmosphere was very nice, warm and inviting, this was somewhat spoiled when chef put on the food warming lights in the kitchen, which were very bright and spoiled the ambience immediately. Overall very good and would go again and recommend to others. Ps the loos were very nice!
