Returned to the Bonham in
Returned to the Bonham in Edinburgh chosen for a special 60th birthday celebration lunch. The weather outside was atrocious but the food, drink, service and ambiance inside were excellent and to the usual high standard. Quality is never compromised even with a very competitively priced lunch menu. At £20 for 3 courses with a glass of wine, it's a steal and I highly recommend a visit to the Bonham.

We had the special offer menu, which was outstanding value for money and delicious. Would highly recomend.
Nice food, pleasant surroundings.
Nice food, pleasant surroundings. Nice new bar area.
All four of us had the Market
All four of us had the Market Menu Top Table deal which was excellent value and whilst the number of choices was limited (three options for starter, main and dessert) the quality of each option was very good. I chose particularly well and my meal was excellent, reports from the three others were that the food was very good, atmosphere and service top notch.
Second visit and we will be back for sure.
Lunch at the The Bonham Restaurant
Lunch at the The Bonham Restaurant is a leisurely affair with a good value table d'hote menu and excellent friendly and efficient service. At £20 per head it is difficult to find fault but a minor criticism is that the red wine option included in the price is far too light to hold up against the meat based main courses.
A smart location and well worth the visit.
The Restaurant at the Bonham,
The Restaurant at the Bonham, Edinburgh, did not disappoint. As most previous reviews have stated, the service was excellent and the 3 course special with a glass of wine was of good quality and value. You don't get large portions but the food is served in an imaginative and tasteful style.

Had an excellent meal and the service was perfect, the waiter was very attentive, could not fault anything.
Will definitely be back.
I treated my husband and I
I treated my husband and I to the 3 course plus bottle of wine offer at The Bonham Hotel, Edinburgh on Saturday, and what a treat it was! The food on offer was absolutely excellent for the £19.98 per head deal, which included a lovely light bottle of Italian red. The ballotine of rabbit with carrot and cumin was outstanding, as were both mains and desserts. It was obviously a popular choice as by 1pm, the restaurant was full! Service was top class which really made our day. Will defo be back!
2nd visit to The Restaurant
2nd visit to The Restaurant at The Bonham & again the experience was excellent. The service is 2nd to none & the food is excellent.
Restaurant at The Bonham,
Restaurant at The Bonham, Edinburgh. Lovely dining room,we had a table at a window with a view. Service and food was excellent. We ate from the market menu which has a limited choice of 3 starters,3mains and 3desserts but the quality and taste was excellent and good value. A la Carte menu was much more expensive to choose from if you did not like any of the 3 set choices. Enjoyed the free extra touches such as bread and dip, sample glass of chefs' soup and selection of mini cakes with coffee.
relaxing good food at the bonham
a great find in west edinburgh - after walking around in the rain it was lovely to sit by a window and enjoy good food. tomato soup was particularly yummy, with the mains coming a close second best. attentive waiters in relatively empty restaurant
GOOD VALUE LUNCH
Dining room impeccably set out with fresh table cloths, linen napkins and sparkling glassware. The special lunch menu was the choice of all 12. The food was prepared, cooked and presented very well but was just a little sparse. Extra bread was quickly produced after asking. Helpings perhaps 15% larger would have been easily consumed. That apart, the lunch was very good, the staff never pressing to hurry us along (so why the 1200 hrs start?). We drank 6 bottles of the house wine which was of a good quality and we sat for almost an hour after coffee and sweets nattering away - always a good sign of a good place to eat.
Individual cost of £34 (incl tip) made the meal very good value.
The toilets were immaculate and smelled fresh and airy.
Had food from the Market menu. One of us had the squid, which was delicious, but could have done with at least one more piece of squid. Portion size on the starter was very small. The duck was great tasting. The main of the butternut risotto was one of the best we had tasted. A great night out.
Perfect Birthday Treat
I took my husband to The Bonham for a surprise birthday treat. I booked the TopTable offer (yes i know I'm a cheap skate!;-) but believe you me, you would not have thought so because the meal was as good as any I have had in 5 star restaurants! The quality, taste and presentation, were all excellent and best of all were the surprise additional excellent 'amuse bouche' type dishes that were included in the price paid. We were given a very romantic table by the window. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic meal for two or for a good meal out with friends!
Very relaxed evening eating good food. The Toptable deal was excellent value for money.
great food and good service.fantastic value 3 course meal on top table deal.
great place,great staff and food
Been twice now and have had a wonderful time.Excellent service and outstanding value with the market menu. The staff are lovely and very attentive but not intrusive. We really like the ambience and its a great place for group bookings too.
Food was beautiful and well priced. Only quibble was poor service once we had finished and wanted to settle up. Prior to that service had been excellent. They did get busier as the night wore on, but that shouldn't excuse their eventual inattentiveness.
A group of for adult females on trip to Edinburgh for one night. Thoroughly enjoyed the professional exquisite experience. Desert was not what we expected hence reason for 4 stars rather than 5. Definitely recommend however and would call again in another visit. Thank you.
Understated fine cuisine
This is the second visit and on both occasions the food reaches towards Michelin standards, really wonderful for this slightly out of centre hotel & restaurant in the Georgian bit of Edinburgh. Nice ambience in restaurant area especially at night and he menu is exquisite and brilliantly presented at these prices, recommended utterly.
We took my elderly father to The Bonham for a festive lunch to spoil him. He was very impressed with the quality of the food and the portion sizes were perfect for all of us. The service was good and friendly.

We had a wonderful lunch at
We had a wonderful lunch at the Bonham. It's been a while since I ate at the restaurant and wished I had been back sooner. There was 7 in my party and everyone was extremely satisfied with their meal and the attentive service.
We went to Bonhams for our daughters 20th birthday. The front of house gentleman - sorry did not get his name - was exceedingly helpful. Despite not really making a fuss about it being a birthday they produced 5 glasses of fizz with their compliments - a super gesture. Great food and very good value
Excellent as always!
The Market Menu has been discontinued and the A La Carte menu is more affordable. The food was amazing as always, especially the mushroom, egg and jerusalem artichoke starter. Absolutely delicious. Keep up the good work
What more could you want?
The staff went out of their way to accommodate allergy needs (gluten and dairy free) and had prepared a subset of the menu in advanced suitable for the person with the allergies.
The ambiance was fantastic and the food was just as good. The service was impeccable.
Highly recommended and would definitely go back.
Have had late lunch at tha
Have had late lunch at tha bonham several times and the service and food has always been 1st class. Highly recommend.
Good Starter & Main -dessert not so
Enjoyed the starter (duck parfait) and main (pork) - both well presented and tasty. We ordered dessert as an extra (as availed of the £18.50 for 2 courses & a wine deal) and was a little disappointed with this - I had the frangipan pie and was a little dry and not all that tasty
Very lovely place to relax on a Saturday lunch it will last till 5 pm if you want to.
Food delicious. interesting menu
Busy a bit noisy but could cope!
Will be back
Afternoon tea going past looked fab
Think might be expensive for dinner
house wine yum
Boozy Snoozy - superb value
The boozy snoozy deal at the Bonham is a long standing deal that epitomises value for money without a drop in standards. The menu choices were excellent, service just right and the relaxed but classy surroundings continue to make this one of my favourite places to dine. Hard to fault.
Friends who lunch
I love to lunch a "boozy snooze" here as it is great . The menu was varied and something for all tastes. 4 of us seated at a table with lots of space . You never feel crowded when eating - and the ambience lovely and relaxing. Food as always excellent - could have chosen all dishes for main! Beetroot and caramelised walnuts risotto was delicious, and the chocolate dessert amazing ! The staff as always attentive yet not intrusive.
Not the first and definitely not the last time we visit this lovely restaurant, fabulous food, great wines, and friendly professional service. Never let's me down when we want to be a bit spoiled!
Dinner at The Bonham
I dined at the Bonham on Saturday 23rd November 2013. A warm welcome followed by an excellent Gin and Tonic was a good start to the evening. I have dined here several times over the past years and the food , wine and service was as good as ever. I have no reservations in recommending this restaurant and in fact have done so in the past year.
V. pleasant dining experience
Had dinner for 2, standard menu. Service was excellent & the dining room lovely. We were seated next to the wall which was fine but diners near us were complaining about the draft from the door (which is next to main door of hotel) My starter (mushrooms on brioche) was great, but my husband thought his steak tartare a bit average. The mains were v good, the venison a bit chewy but the slow-cooked beef was gorgeous. However, the menu said it came with mash so we didn't order any sides. It actually came with 3 bean-sized (ie tiny) lumps of mash!! Desserts were v good in parts (cinnamon ice-cream!) but rumbaba needed more syrup & millefeuille was a bit tough. Overall good, but more attention to detail would make it great.
