My local - aren't I lucky!
The mussels are awesome!!! - And the fire is great
Bet you wish this was your local!!
Friendly, accomodating service. Food tasty, well presented and decent portions.
Near the fire is the best place to sit - unless I have beaten you to it!
Exactly what a good pub should
Exactly what a good pub should be,coupled with an excellent Chef.
Yes we have been there again!!!
Roaring fire, good food, wonderful friendly service, great drinks. If you want more, you are just greedy!
Superb food and excellent service!
The Crown and Sandys Arms is now our preferred restaurant in the area!
A great night with great food
I booked for a party of friends / ex work colleagues (we meet up every year) and as it was my turn to choose the venue, The Crown and Sandys was within 10 minutes from our home and had great reviews.
We all enjoyed a great evening with stunning food.
The only downside was the poor service (not enough staff to cope) as the ones who were there were doing their utmost to serve everyone but were overwhelmed.
We had to wait approx 8 minutes after our meals arrived for the vegetables to reach our table and even then we had to ask.
Even with this, the food was so good that I would have no hesitation in saying "Go There" as it surpassed our expectations.
All in all we had a great time and will definitely return.
Good food, good service
We had lunch on the Sunday before Christmas, which was a very busy time for them, with a number of large parties. The menu had a very good range of options, the food was good and the service excellent. When my husband asked for a change in the accompaniments to his turkey, the response was `yes, certainly', rather than `I'll ask the chef''. Good training shows.
Thank you for a delicious meal and friendly service.
Excellent venue to meet friends
Excellent venue to meet friends for a lovely lunch by a roaring fire!
Booked for lunch at 1 pm, but due to being stuck in a field off roading was 2 hours late, our table was reserved for us . Staff were friendly and food good. Will return when in area again. Just like to say thank you for keeping a table much appreciated
Loved this place. Food was
Loved this place. Food was outstanding and service was the best we've had for a long time. Definitely would recommend for a special occasion, atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. Will be going back as soon as possible.
have not been back since it
have not been back since it re-opened and mothers day was a good time to test it at possibly one of the busiest days of the year.
whilst it is not the cheapest place to eat, the food is outstanding and in my opinion, good value. you get the quality of food you pay for. Unfortunately it is the drinks that pumps the bill up, so this is the only "minor" negative, but if you go with that in mind, then you really enjoy. The place itself is comfortable and really relaxed.
We took our friend to the Crown and Sandys for Sunday lunch... we had been a few years ago for a birthday celebration and it was lovely... so glad to say if anything, it has got better! The choice is fabulous, all prices to suit every pocket, we opted for the Al A Carte choice and it did not disappoint! I had mussels to start followed by sea bass, cooked perfectly... my friends husband went for the Beef Wellington.. I tried it and it was to die for!! My husband and my friend had the lamb which was again, fab... they had prawns to start and both said although nice, could have done with something to liven them up.. chilli sauce maybe? Wine choice was excellent and both red and white house wines superb value and enjoyable - thanks loved it!
We booked on Sunday morning for Sunday afternoon. The set menu offered good choice & value for money. My husband went for the roast beef & asked for additional potatoes rather than vegetables, he was brought a huge servicing of gorgeous roast potatoes.
The waiting service was excellent especially the main young man behind the bar.
I would recommend & return again
Friendly and attentive staff.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Great value - esp the 2 people/2 courses/bottle of wine for £30.
A great place for my friend and I to meet up and know that we are going to be looked after well.
Although booked last minute this was a real treat, the food delivered was of excellent quality and really good value , service experience very friendly and attentive. Will return to sample more delights. Braised blade of beef recommended!
Lovely place, great menu and lots to choice from. Staff are extremely amenable and something you rearely get these days....excellent service!
This was our third lunch and
This was our third lunch and the food standard is consistently very good.
Went to the Crown and Sandys for a meal with the boyfriend, as we had been together for a year. I have been there a few times before with family and the food has always been exceptional. The food we had on the particular night was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't fault it.
The only criticism I would have is the deserts, if you are eating off of the main menu, are a little too expensive. But they offer set menu's for great value!
The staff were friendly and meals came on time. I Live 20 minutes away from The Crown and Sandys, but it is worth the travel and has the nicest food in the area.
We had the two courses and
We had the two courses and bottle of wine special offer for £30.00 on a Thursday evening. The food and service were excellent. Would highly recommend.
Enjoyed by all
Our party ranged from 9 to 67 and all very much enjoyed the excellent food. The service was excellent and the meal was very good value.
This was our first visit to
This was our first visit to the Crown and Sandys Arms and loved it. We will definately return soon.
good food - slow service
While I don't like being rushed, I think an hour before the starter arrives is too much.
Great Sunday evening meal
Booked online and requested a table in the bar area. Everything was ready when we arrived (so the online booking DOES work!). Love the ambience in the Crown & Sandys. Service was prompt and polite, and it's nice being able to order drinks at your table even in a pub situation. The food came quickly and was very good. The bill came to about £22 per head for 2 courses and included around of drinks and a bottle of house wine which I thought was not bad.
Some reviewers have marked this place as "fit for foodies". I have too but hesitated! It is more "excellent pub food" so good for a meal out, but if you were expecting more than that you would be disappointed.
Overall, a really enjoyable place and thoroughly recommended.
We had a lovely evening, the
We had a lovely evening, the menu options and food chosen were excellent value and very tasty. The restaurant was fairly busy which made for a nice atmosphere and felt very comfortable and friendly.
We will definitely return and recommend to others.
Mid Week Supper
Wonderful value - two courses for two plus a bottle of house wine for £30.
No stinting on portions or quality.
Good all round restaurant
On arriving we were seated at a table in the middle of a section 2 seater where we felt boxed in. Glad the sun was in my eyes and moved to a better table of our choice.
We both chose of the a la carte menu. Food was good through the 3 courses, and service was excellent.
There was also special dishes and a good budget menu too.
Overall the experience was good but found the pub quite dark in decor!
Well worth a visit.. very
Well worth a visit.. very reasonably priced, excellent service and top quality food.
We arrived early for our booking
We arrived early for our booking and we sat at the table having a pre-dinner drink. Service was effecient and friendly. Our food was very good - homemade tomato soup, fish pie and lemon loaf cake being particular favourites. because we were dining early, the pub was a litttle empty initially, but it began to fill up as the evening progressed, creating a pleasant ambience. We do not live in the area, and I had only been to The Crown and Sandys once before, some years ago, We arranged to meet somebody there and it was certainly a good choice, as we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Good food and location
Highly recommend as the food is excellent and the decor is lovely.
Great value for money
The Crown and Sandys is local to us though we had not been in a while. We expected to have a hefty bill, however, they had a fantastic offer on 2 courses and a bottle of house wine £30. The food was fantastic. We had a lovely evening. Definitely going next week.
Friday early dining
We were a party of six and all enjoyed their meal. Good job we came early as it was very busy later and when we left
we had some old friends to stay with us having recently retired to worcs from sussex and enjoyed the evening meal and the atmosphere it was a very pleasant experience
Really enjoyable evening with friends, great service and great food.
Went with a friend and we ordered 4 British tapas for £14 to start. 1 each would have been plenty! Had cod goujons and deep fried brie. Lovely plenty of it. then we both had worcestershire pork belly - absolutely lovely, had crackling, pork melted in mouth Hough the pork loin was a little tough. Was lovely though. We were stuffed, so no dessert. Wines were not great to match the quality of food.
Had a lovely evening, staff were excellent. Would go again!
Excellent service from start to finish, food was served prompt and hot all freshly cooked, will be returning.
Had a great time catching up with neighbours after various holidays. Great food, great value and beautifully presented. The traditional roasts were generous. The fish less so. We would do it all again.
Six of us dined recently at the Crown & Sandys and all had the set priced menu for £30 per couple with a bottle of wine.
The food was excellent with a great choice of dishes and very generous portions. I thoroughly recommend paying them a visit.
Excellent food and service
Excellent food and service in a comfortable environment. A little on the expensive side for house wine (£16.00). Otherwise enjoyable.
Starters not as good as the rest of the meal.
However sunday roast excellent and puddings delicious.
Service very friendly.
We would definitely go again.
Mid Week Marvel
The weekday offer of two courses for two and a bottle of wine is excellent value and they do not compromise on quality.
