We have visited Babylon now
We have visited Babylon now on 3 occasions, each time we have received both good service and an excellent quality of food. This last occasion surpassed our previous experiences, the food was fantastic, Risotto for starters, the sea bass was exquisite and my wife's fillet of beef fantastic. The wine selections were also to a very high standard, a special occasion with great food and ambience, well done Babylon
great for a dinner with family
I took my parents to this venue who enjoyed the food and views out. The service was great.
The set menu was good value for money, but the price of wine is expensive and could well deter people. We felt that the cost of the wine was trying to off set the value of the set menu.
Babylon at The Roof Gardens
When the sun shines like it did on my visit no better place for lunch then the roof gardens
Excellent food & service as usual
Had Sunday Lunch with 6 friends here. The 3 course Sunday lunch was delicious & excellent value. I had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection & well presented. There was a good variety of dishes for all tastes on the set menu & all of our guests were impressed with the dishes they chose. The service, as always was excellent & attentive. A great place to eat with a nice ambience
I went for a Saturday lunch with friends. The lunch menu we had was good value and the food was delicious. The courses were fine on their own but if you are quite hungry then add some side dishes too.
The ambience was relaxed and we were given enough time to chat and didn't feel rushed. It was a very enjoyable lunch in impressive surroundings and I would recommend it to others.
It really is magical .
Fabulous way to spend Sunday lunch in London - great rooftop garden in the middle of London and the Sunday Roast Pork was absolutely scrumptious. Very happy with both service and value, this was a great find. Some fascinating design twists to this restaurant. Recommend pre-booking to get a seat by the window for the garden and London views.
I love this place!!
Please see my previous reviews. I love this place for the excellent food & service and unique location. I would recommend for a special occasion or Sunday lunch. The set menu's have a good variety of choices and are of excellent value. A great place for lunch whilst shopping!
I wish there was a pre-theatre facility as it would be an excellent place to dine before going to The Royal Albert Hall.
the sky's the limit!
What a perfect setting for lunch! Okay, so the sun shone, which did make sipping the champagne cocktail (oh, which one to choose!) on the balcony extra special, but it's a beautiful setting. Sunday lunch was delicious - not your average roast - meltingly tender meat, delicious vegetables and excellent attentive (but not too much) service. For a special meal it was good value - we did have the works! The only slight disappointment was that we could only go down to the Roof Gardens before our meal, as it was closed for a function after. Worth checking if you're keen to visit.
This is a wonderful experience tucked away. The setting is the best...the staff are so friendly and obliging and the food is excellent.
The perfect special occasion
Not that you really need a special occasion to eat at Babylon, but if you're not a regular on the London dining scene then this Kensington restaurant really hits the mark. We were lucky enough to have booked on a sunny evening when we could take full advantage of the terrace for pre-dinner cocktails. The service and food were fantastic and our two birthday girls enjoyed a special birthday treat with thanks to the team at Babylon. Highly recommended.
I absolutely loved the restaurant and the portions were perfect to give you the opportunity to actually enjoy 2 or even 3 courses.
Very friendly and welcoming staff
I will be going back no doubt!
Babylon at the roof garden
Great lunch and fantastic view well worth visiting
Babylon great for special occasion
I chose Babylon to celebrate my partner's birthday and wasn't disappointed. We had a very friendly welcome upon arrival and enjoyed a pre-meal drink on the terrace with great views over London and the Gardens. Sadly the Gardens were not available to visit on the day but that's understandably a bit of a lottery if booking more than a few days in advance.
Due to selecting a fairly early dining time the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere at the start of the meal but it was very lively and busy towards the end and the service was very attentive throughout.
The menu selection is great and the food is presented beautifully. It tastes as good as it looks!
I would certainly go back and also recommend Babylon to my friends.
Very good all round
The Chelsea set very much on display for drinks. Food and service very good. Some of the tables a bit tucked away but can't really complain.
Great food, great location good value very efficient and friendly staff. What's not to like.
Special lunch - arrived a bit early so had a cocktail on the terrace admiring the views - fabulous bread - great food presentation - good service - matching bill - couldn't ask for more!
This restaurant is a survivor in the topsy turvy London scene, and rightly so. Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere, splendid staff, and the occasional sighting of flamingos in the undergrowth to boot. Combine these with a good bottle of Sancerre, and in the words of Frank Sinatra -'Who could ask for anything more?'
Great food, sloppy service
I came here for my birthday treat with some girlfriends (4 of us) and decided to come an hour and a half early to have some cocktails on the terrace. We ordered our drinks and 2 came within 20 minutes, and the other 2 we waited in total 45 minutes for the drinks. Despite asking the waiting staff several times, they took an inordinate amount of time to arrive. Perhaps it's because we were sat at the table the furthest away that we were forgotten, but the outside service was poor at best. However once we were seated for dinner and the table service kicked in, there were no complaints and the food and service were both excellent. Not cheap but definitely worth going for a treat.
A summer treat !
First visit to the Babylon Roof Gardens and was very impressed, with the ambiance and the setting as well as the food. A warm summer evening helps, too ! We were able to visit the gardne area as well just as we were leaving. Difficult to believe that your in the heart of London ! Very peaceful.
Fabulous food in lovely setting
Really lovely restaurant with delicious food- I had sea-bass which was so fresh and tasty, friend had salmon, hubby had oysters. Children had sausages and mash, then chocolate brownie and ice-cream All delighted with their food. The atmosphere is really nice too, stylish green/gold interior and lovely views over London although oddly, you can't see the Roof Gardens at all from the restaurant, which is a floor up. Do check before you go that Roof Gardens are open, as undoubtedly a benefit of visiting Babylon is being able to go for a wander amongst the flamingoes, trees and flowers of Roof Garden before dinner - but it's not always open, due to functions. Staff helpful and friendly. Pricey but worth it for special occasion!
Super views, good food
Situated many floors up with views over west London, this makes a super setting for a Sunday lunch on a sunny day - as it was on 25 August. Plentiful staff made for efficient attentive service. Child friendly and child tolerant with several couples bringing young but well behaved youngsters out to lunch. Food was good if not gourmet. I had warm mackerel on thin pasta, 2 large mushroom and aubergine raviolis, and rich dark cheesecake. The wines are expensive but we particularly liked the Argentine torrentes white wine with an aromatic flavour. Definitely somewhere for a special lunch. The Roof Gardens below were out of bounds on this visit as a large private function was about to start.
Decent food in stylish place
Always a good choice, in particular in summer, as we had our pre-dinner drink outside. Food is very nice and so is the service, albeit a bit slow. The place is packed with 'beautiful people' and the price is relatively high.
the food is very good
very good food nice view and lovely furniture i loved bathroom like in romeo and juliette film
we had a very pleasent time
we came with our daughter aged 23monthes and the people were lovely with her
Great lunch, with some good views.
Friendly service, great tasting and presented food. Very modern on clean design.
As always we had an excellent time at Babylon. If I was being critical I would say that my mackerel was very oily however overall the food was very good and excellent value, and the staff were superb.
We were made very welcome by everyone and we had a fantastic meal on a very special occasion. The waiting staff, the cocktail bar-staff and the security team were all great and the food was brilliant! We will definitely be coming back and next time we might even have a dance!
Friendly staff, very good
Friendly staff, very good service and great ambience.
Always a warm welcome and great service brilliant food both in taste and presentation lovely relaxed dinning
Perfect for a romantic evening or a special night-out. Perfect for a glamorous evening out.
Our second visit to Babylon this year. Beautiful weather affording spectacular views of the greatest city on earth!
Dinner was absolutely fabulous - great food, great wine & impeccable service.
We both opted for the salmon to start - delicious!
For my main I had the bream (cooked to perfection). The evening is best described as "perfect"! Highly recommended!
Great service from start to finish, food was lovely. Would definitely recommend!
Sunday Lunch At Babylon
This was my second visit for Sunday lunch here, once again we were very impressed with the whole dining experience from the moment you enter the ground floor reception area to the moment you leave every member of staff you meet makes your time with them a pleasant one, no matter how fleeting.
The food is excellent, the service attentive but not intrusive, the décor is bright and well maintained, the views across south London fabulous.
Having worked within the building over 20 years ago I know the gardens are special and from your table a small glimpse of these acts as the backdrop. unfortunately the gardens have been closed on the occasion of my recent visits but I will persevere in the hope of walking through them again.
Babylon at The Roof Gardens
Babylon at The Roof Gardens never disappoints. Took my fiance there for his 30th birthday and he loved it. The food, ambience and service were excellent and so was the gardens and club. Highly recommend it.
good food, nice restaurant, very no
food was great and service was brilliant. perhaps we were unfortunate that there were two very loud groups sitting near us, to the point that someone had to shout at them to quiet them down.
We went on Sunday for a birthday lunch. Everything was brilliant:the atmosphere, the food, the staff. Would recommend for sure.
Two generations girlie dinner
Excellent celebration dinner for two mums and their daughters all celebrating aforementioned daughters' new careers!.
Excellent value in stunning locatio
I was impressed to find an affordable toptable offer in this legendary location. And the food and service were excellent. I will return, and also try to make it for lunch on a clear day so I can see the roof garden and views of the london skyline.
Babylon at the Roof Gardens is a lovely restaurant with a spectacular view over Kensington's roof tops. The food was very nice - we had the £21.50 menu (2 courses and a glass of champagne) - the choice was limited but what we ordered was tasty.
A very good Saturday lunch
We ate at Babylon recently for a celebration lunch and were very pleased with the excellent service, very friendly staff and good food. There are lovely views and a walk through the gardens afterwards completed a lovely afternoon.
I booked this for 4 of us as a family treat having the set Sunday menu which was good value for money. The staff were all very attentive and pleasant and all dishes were very good in terms of taste and presentation, deserts being the less favourable though. The nice ambience and views were further enhanced by a very talent and humorous magician who performed at our table. All in all a very enjoyable after. Keep an eye on the alcohol spend though as this literally doubled my final bill.
I had wanted to see the Roof
I had wanted to see the Roof Gardens for years and they didn't disappoint, adding the wow factor to our anniversary celebration. The fact that that food was great made for a special evening. Would love to come back during the day and see the views over London. People with disabilities should not be put off as it is all level access by lift - claim the rooftops!
I have had lunch at Babylon at The Roof Gardens on a few occasions. Twice was for special occasions. Once was to celebrate giving up work with a friend who was also giving up work. The most recent time was to celebrate my friend's 80th birthday. It is an ideal place and venue for a celebration. We really loved the fact that a tiny little cake with a candle was brought to the birthday girl, along with a happy birthday script in chocolate, on a plate! She adored it.
The service is excellent - very attentive without being intrusive.
Good service, Great food. Very happy with the evening,!
We lunched at the Babylon.
We lunched at the Babylon. We had the three course special which was excellent in choice and value. Great views over London. MK
I booked this for my in-laws anniversary, they came away buzzing. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and went to great lengths to ensure their visit was special.
Dining in the sky
Londoners are spoilt for choice and I do enjoy trying out new restaurants. Babylon has remained a favourite over the years. I haven't been in over a year so this was an opportunity to see if things were still as good. It was. The Sunday lunch menu was familiar and beautifully executed. The service was near faultless and the wine list decent with prices ranging from sensible to the lifetime treat. The gardens were open and the flamingos delightfully active. If you've not been, it's a mature garden on the roof ordered into several styles. Recommended for the special occasion.
what a great place
Stunning venue, lots to look at both inside and outside. The roof terrace garden has to be seen to be believed.
Babylon - an oasis in Kensington !
Hidden away - but once found - wow ! We had pre drinks outside - complete with blankets & hot water bottles, while we took in the skyline. Restaurant lovely ambience. Staff friendly, attentitive but not overly - just right balance. Food yummy - flavours really came through. Can't wait to return !
Excellent presentation - delicious
Excellent presentation - delicious meal - quite unexpected surroundings. Brilliant.
The Gluten Free Bread is truly exceptional. THank you
