A very unexpected treat! Our
A very unexpected treat! Our concierge tried to get us to switch to another French restaurant..Said Chez Bruce was more of a locals place.... It was and I can see why. I eat out almost every meal. I grew up in the business. It was very understated but beautiful.. Extremely clean. Not a spot on anything.. Great wine list. Very attentive but unobtrusive service. The dinner was some of the best food I have ever eaten.. The scallops were a perfect appetizer, but the pork dinner...! I could have eaten it twice...I didn't order the creme brulee, my partner did...everyone has creme brulee....It was incredible....the chocolate was good but I would not miss the creme brulee.. It is a bit of a hike from downtown but definitely worth it! Enjoy!
Chez Bruce in Wandsworth
It was well worth the journey of over an hour to go to Chez Bruce. The food was very good but the Main Meals were a little limited if you did not eat Game or Shellfish. The desserts were lovely. There was a vegetarian option. The ambiance, service and value were very good-3 courses for 45£ (without service)- and they have a very good wine list and an amazing cheeseboard.
We loved Chez Bruce and will definitely be returning to try more of their food, all of which was incredible. Both the guinea fowl and the pork were excellent. The service was perfect - attentive but not overbearing. The wine list was comprehensive without being intimidating, and they were happy to recommend plenty of wines under £40 a bottle. I asked to be seated in their upstairs dining room when I booked, which meant we were in a much smaller room with only about five tables (would do this again). It's not a cheap night out (three courses with pre-dinner drinks, wine and service came to £160 for two), but it's one of those rare occasions when you feel it was worth every penny.
Good but basic
Very good evening as always, but I found the food a little basic for the price/style I'm used to from CB -
This was the first time I've had Sunday dinner, and will be sticking to weekdays from now on.
Wholeheartedly recommend Chez Bruce
Having not been there before I was very pleased with the food, which each of the four of us thought was extremely good. The wine list is very comprehensive which means you can experiment on a new wine knowing it will be to a good standard. The service was very attentive. All in all an excellent evening and a restaurant I very much hope to revisit.
Great place, a top quality restaurant with great, professional yet relaxed, service. Food was outstanding (coming from an extremely fussy individual). Not much more to say. Highly recommend.
Attentive service, but not
Attentive service, but not "in your face". Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Food consistently good - plenty of choices for each course and very good value at £45 for 3 courses for dinner. It's the wine that considerably bumps up the price but for the overall experience it is well worth it.
Sat downstairs on a busy Thursday night and still didn't find it crowded. Loved the foie gras parfait and the attention of the sommelier. Worth the trip to Wandsworth.
This was our second visit
This was our second visit to Chez Bruce and it didn't disappoint, wonderful food, superb wine list and excellent service!
Nice place and great food
Very nice place for a special occasion. And not expensive at all for a michelin star restaurant.
Had a lovely dinner with my mum. £45 for 3 delicious courses. 2nd time I've been to chez Bruce and it was just as good as last time.
This is one of our special occasion restaurants in our local area and never fails to impress. The service and food are always outstanding and the wine well selected. They are always generous with the little extras as well which is always the mark of a good establishment. I would recommend it for a special treat and don't eat too much before hand the day you go!
It was brilliant!
Probably the best meal I have ever had. The quality of food was brilliant, the service terrific and th over all experience, one me and my wife won't forgot. Hope to go back soon. Only downside was the wine was pricey but still amazing
Ultimate neighbourhood restaurant
Chez Bruce is perhaps the best of many good reasons for living where we do - a Michelin-starred but entirely unfussy and welcoming restaurant that knows exactly how to make diners happy. Beautiful food, an exemplary wine list and attentive but unobtrusive service add up to a perfect evening out, a deux or with friends. Outstanding.
We went here for our wedding
We went here for our wedding anniversay. Great food. Great service.
Great food, great service.
Great food, great service. We liked the little touches e.g. the amazing short bread
Very nice menu, expertly altered to meet my dairy issues. Was strange not to be offered more wine after we finished our first half bottle, but otherwise the service was fine.
One of the best meals I've had in ages. Service was impeccable as well. Wine list outstanding.
The Chez Bruce X Factor
I selected Chez Bruce for my 60th birthday dinner approximately 3,700 miles from Wandsworth Common (I live in Washington, DC). I drew upon the glowing reviews, the restaurant website, the menu, my familiarity with the neighborhood.... and coincidence of our name in common. The one factor that would have been impossible to gauge in advance was the people. The staff at Chez Bruce - from the hostess, to the wait-staff, to the sommelier, to the woman who brought with the cheese board - were exceptional. They were welcoming, knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. Needless to say, the food and atmosphere at Chez Bruce are very special. However, it was the staff that made for a memorable experience.
Excellent food and service
10/10. Can't fault the food nor the service. Will be back again (I hope!)
Great food, poor service
As the title says lovely food, well cooked and presented. Unfortunately the whole lunch was let down by the service. At table the service was excellent but it was very difficult to catch anyone's attention and often 5 staff members could be seen chatting amongst themselves and faffing on with little jobs. The service charge was removed from the bill without me promoting this which was a fair result.
Many friends have recommended this restaurant so quite probably just an off day for them.
We didn't want this meal to end!!
My girlfriend and I came for an anniversary and have decided we don't want to wait for the next special occasion to return, especially as it was better value than we had imagined (£45 for 3 courses). Our semelier helped pick out some brilliant wines to match our food. I had the salmon sashimi salad, served with the tastiest Asian dressing I've ever had and some delicious treats hidden amongst the leaves. My girlfriend had crab and scallop ravioli in a perfectly balanced, rich bisque with cockles. Then we shared melt-in-the-mouth cote de boeuf with triple cooked chips, and a fantastic bearnaise sauce. We then had an indulgent chocolate pot with salted caramel and honeycomb, then a fabulous selection from the cheese board.
there is literally nothing i can say more than perfection, service, food, wine
Always a Treat!
We try to book a table at Chez Bruce whenever we visit London and we are never disappointed. As tourists in central London using public transport we always find getting there a challenge and this time we braved service outages, rain, and a short walk across the Common but it was worth every bit to enjoy the service, the decor, and the food at what has long been my favorite London restaurant.
Chez Bruce is a superb dining experience. Awesome food favours, particularly the white chocolate mousse, pistachio macaroons & passion fruit ice cream - yummy!
It has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.
The biggest surprise was the price. 3 courses for £45 at a Saturday dinner sitting in a Michelin starred restaurant in London - happy days!
Can't wait to go again.
We have been coming to Chez Bruce for years and it never fails to disappoint. Delicious, unpretentious food and efficient, knowledgeable staff. Unlike some restaurants that try too hard, Chez Bruce focuses on quality ingredients and simple yet excellent cooking. The wine list and the cheese board are also fantastic. Not cheap, but good value.
Everything was absolutely superb. The standard of the cooking and the different flavours created are simply the best! The wine, the service and the venue are equal to the food.
My favourite restaurant
Fabulous, as always. Great food, thoughtfully put together and served in a relaxing environment with helpful and attentive staff. The caramelised apple in pastry with nutmeg ice cream was outstanding
I had lunch with a couple
I had lunch with a couple of friends on Friday, and having been a regular at Chez Bruce over the years, this was one of the best meals I have had. Everything about the experience was excellent and the extremely good value for money.
Reservation made by phone and changed later on - all no problem at all. Confirmed later by Chez Bruce by email and phone - perfect service. Staff very friendly and knowledgable about food and wine. Cod was not completely satisfactory (it is cod.... might easily happen!) they did not charge us for our dessert. Very considerate.
Yes - would definitely go there again and recommend!
If you fancy a fine dining experience but not the price, Chez Bruce's lunch might just be the answer. The food is great and 3 course menu is good value. Start lunch at two, enjoy the afternoon eating and drinking well. Happy days.
Fabulous evening at Chez Bruce.
Fabulous evening at Chez Bruce. First time there and won't be the last. Staff outstanding, no rush and wonderful food.
Not been here for a while, but food did nt disappoint and still very good. The service was a bit slow but still attentive.
one of best place to eat in London
A professional cooking and caring services, warm atmosphere and wonderful food. This restaurant is really very good place to eat. Great value for lunch menu.
Birthday 3 course set lunch for 3
Everything very good. Consistent quality. Requested window table.
A lovely birthday dinner
It was our first time at Chez Bruce the staff was very attentive and the food of a very high standard. We would definetly come back very soon.
Deserves its Reputation
Had an early table in the small room upstairs. Atmosphere perhaps too quiet though perhaps to be expected when you eat at 7pm, but service exemplary and we were able to keep the table and have a lovely relaxed meal. I find it annoying that when you have a fixed price menu so many dishes have a supplement, but the food really was excellent and unlike many places not overpriced.
I will go there again, and you should.
Always wonderful 3 course
Always wonderful 3 course lunch. V good menu suggestions from the lovely young waiter that served us. Can't wait to go back. What's not to like?
...time at Chez Bruce yet again. Nothing to fault and love eating here every time.
This was a celebratory lunch for my wife though I naturally did not day so to the restaurant. We had a very pleasant table by the window and were looked after by very attentive staff. The food overall was very good except for a disappointing foie gras.
Chicken liver and foie gras starter was outstanding so was the chinese salmon starter. Pork main course was excellent. The lamb dish wasn't my favourite. I would normally have chosen fish but the only one I fancied was too like the starter. There were too many nuts in the puddings and my husband hates nuts! It would have been good to include a fruit tart without nuts. Ribera Del Duero red wine excellent. The breads and biscuits and shortbread were amazing.
Fabulous food and great value
We visit Chez Bruce about once a year.
We could not believe that it is even better than the previous visit.
Food, welcome, ambiance and fantastic value are delivered effortlessly.
Fantastic dinner at Chez Bruce. Delightful food (my wife practically spellbound by a venison dish) and charming service. Some nice little touches (parmesan biscuits etc) between courses done without fuss or pretention.
Delicious meal, well cooked, perfect portions and an excellent bottle of wine to go with it.
Service was non intrusive and seamless
Recommend that you book immediately and try it yourself- can't wait to go back
Never fails to dissapoint!
Had yet another excellent meal at Chez Bruce. This is my 3rd time dining here this year and every meal has been amazing. The 3 courses for £45 is excellent value for food of such high quality and unlike some Michelin star restaurants, you always leave feeling like you could not eat another bite!
Starters of Foie Gras and a Mussel ragout starter were the winners in our group, and the Venison for main was outstanding. All 3 desserts were declared winners, but the caramel parfait, with banana and popcorn was really out of this world.
As usual with this restaurant... I will be back!
Have not been to Chez Bruce for about six years but its still as good as ever- posh without being pretentious, elegant and intimate. We had the pumpkin soup for starters which was absolutely divine. My main course (roast cod) was slightly over powered by the basil pesto and my dessert (honey and ginger ice-cream) a bit too heavy on the ginger for my liking but that's a matter of taste. But overall it was a lovely lunch, the service was faultless and the ambience lovely.
Great food, shame about the table
We were seated in the middle of the back room near the kitchen which meant that the waiters had to walk around us every time they went to or from the kitchen, resulting in multiple bumps to the back of our chairs. We also had to wait a while to order both our starter/main and desert and as we had a late sitting this meant we didn't leave until nearly midnight. Having said that the food was excellent and great value so would definitely visit again (just request a different table).
Went with my wife for a birthday dinner. Terrific service, very knowledgeable. Food was very good and portions were spot on. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
We booked this meal as a treat
We booked this meal as a treat to celebrate our anniversary. And very pleased we did! We really enjoyed the food. We thought it was excellent value for such good food. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. Would thoroughly recommend it.
2nd time and equally memorable.
2nd time and equally memorable. Great wine and cheese recommendations and all food impeccable.
