Four of us went for dinner on Thursday night and it was great fun. It was really buzzy and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I took my wife for her birthday, having eaten at most of Gordon's restraurants we were expecting something very special. It didn't disappoint; food, service and ambience were all outstanding. They have a great way of making you feel very welcome.
Pre theatre Savoy Grill
Fantastic food and good ambiance - we've been to the Savoy before but not this restaurant but we will definitely go back here for dinner or a pre theatre menu again.
Lobster bisque was lovely as was the lamb wellington and perfectly cooked fillet steak.............really nice house champagne too.
A lively, noisy and busy dining room. Very pleasant staff and good, personal attention though our main waiter was sometimes supplemented by a colleague. A good selection on the menu and food prepared as requested. A large and not over priced wine list, though the bottle we chose (at a modest £38) was perhaps average. I would happily visit again for a special occasion.
We stayed at the savoy when we got married and the 10 of us had our wedding lunch in the savoy grill and it was exceptional. Food was gorgeous, service was second to none and they provided me with a cushion for my back as I'm pregnant. And they made sure any cheese I ate was pasteurised. Brilliant all round, they thought of everything. Might even go back for our anniversary!
My sister's 50th Birthday
We had a brilliant evening to celebrate my sister's 50th Birthday. The food and service was amazing and it certainly created a most memorable time,
We love eating out and sometimes are disappointed as my husband is an excellent cook but I have to say that this is one of the best dining experiences we have had in recent times. Excellent Food, excellent Service and wonderful company!
Classy and elegant.
Classy and elegant.
Very good food - good drinks and wine.
Very service minded staff.
dinner at the savoy
Really enjoyed our evening meal , which my husband had booked for us. my daughter and I dined after the theatre and it was lovely.
The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Booked this for my birthday & it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly & made good recommendations regarding food & wine.
The atmosphere is very sophisticated and would defiantly impress.
We where selebrating a birthday
We where selebrating a birthday in Savoy Grill and everything was perfect. Good food and service. There was too dark inside, i like to see what i am eating. But they change our table more lighter place and then it was all very good.
40th Birthday Celebration
I had taken some time deciding where to go for lunch during a girlie trip to London. We were not dissappointed at all the set 3 course menu was a good deal. each course was a taste sensation! The service was impeccable. A most enjoyable experience.
Post Theatre treat
From the time we were welcomed, to the time we had to say good night, this was an exceptional evening.
The starters were extremely well presented, and so very fresh (Shellfish bisque with poached lobster, and the Oysters). The main was cooked to perfection (we all had the Dover sole, we tried both grilled and meunière). The hand cut chips must be mentioned, we believe they were double cooked, as the French take the time to do so well, and my word they were excellent! and the mash was on a par! The veg, as you would expect, was done to perfection. I am afraid we had no room to try the dessert, however we were given a surprise of some miniatures - which was such a nice touch!
Thank you for such a perfect evening.
If you're looking for good food and service this is the place to be in London.
Perfect Sunday Lunch
Splendid food, wines and service, as near to perfect as you can get for the 'British' classics!
Still a little pricey at £32 for three courses and a bellini at lunch, but the food was excellent and the service faultless. Note that they will add on a service charge and a charity donation to the bill automatically.
Dinner at the Savoy grill was excellent, the food was taste and the service fitst class
A brilliant dining experience
The experience as a whole was amazing - from arrival at the restaurant until the very last bite. Our waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite. The food was, as to be expected at the Savoy Grill, outstanding. Little extra touches made the meal even more delightful - with waiting staff presenting us with two complementary mignardises with chocolate-written 'Happy Anniversary' upon finding out that it was a special occasion. I cannot recommend The Savoy Grill enough.
steak was excellent! Service was good and the decor of the restaurant wonderful! Especially liked the birthday service they offered my dad
Everything was perfect in my business group. Attendees from Italy, Germany, France, Spain, other parts of UK were impresed for the dinner, also for the place.
Always a winner
We opted for the three course menu. The sticky toffee pudding was delightful. Savoy Grill has a splendid reputation and I always feel pleased for choosing this place time and time again.
Unforgettable night with friend
I was dining at Savoy Grill 28.11.2013 with my best friend. I had very high expectations, and Savoy Grill exceeded all of them clearly. I didn't even know that so good food exists.
Service was excellent - me and my friend were student tourists from Finland, so we didn't order highest price champagnes or wines, while table next to us ordered everything to priced. And yet there was absolutely no difference in service quality between our table and table next to us.
Good, but not perfect.
I ordered Omelette Arnold Bennett for starters, Fillet steak with mashed potatoes and béarnaise for main and Chocolate marquis with dark chocolate ganache and peppermint ice cream for dessert.
The Omelette was really tasty, perfectly done, however, there was a big fish bone in mine, and I really dislike fish bones in my meal even if this dish contains fish.
The Fillet steak was perfectly red in the middle and lightly cooked on the outside as I ordered it and was really tender as one would expect from a fillet.
The potatoes where fine, but the béarnaise was way too spicy.
The Chocolate marquis with dark chocolate ganache was superb, however the ice cream was crystallized from being thawed and frozen again.
Overall 4/5 due to staff.
I took my boyfriend on Friday evening for his birthday, the experience, food, service and atmosphere was truly brilliant. We had initially booked for the pre theatre dinner but the menu was very limited so we opted for a la carte. Glad wad did, oysters we sublime, Mains delicious and the desserts were fantastic, they even brought a little birthday cake for my man. Truly amazing experience would recommend without hesitation.
As you would expect from such
As you would expect from such a venerable establishment, the Savoy staff were very attentive to their customers, the food was good and delivered promptly. Yes it was expensive, but the ambience of the place put us at our ease and all in all I thought it was a great place to eat. My only gripe is that the hotel management should ensure their staff know how to understand English - our waitress could not understand my husband's accent and could not get the name of his whisky. It was sorted quickly but if you are paying that much you should expect all the staff be more aware of accents both local and foreign and be able to cope with them.
Finally, Gordon Ramsey has lived up to expectations. The savoy grill was lovely - pretty place, delicious food and flawless service. The scallop dish was very good.
Me and my wife were celebrating our second wedding anniversary at The Savoy Grill and have to say that it was perfect!!! The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even treated us to an 'Happy Anniversary' message spelt out in chocolate with a couple of delicious chocolate cakes to finish!!! Superb!!!
We will be attending again in the future.
sommelier left bad taste
Had lunch here this weekend of the al a carte menu and the food was superb, service highly efficient and polite could bot fault. However, with our
Main courses we asked for a glass of wine from the lunch menu, nothing special purely just a house wine as that would be very much nice enough in this establishment. The sommelier spoke to us about the wine and gave us an option of wine as if they were from the lunch menu, we chose one and had lunch. At the end of the meal we got the wine an. It was 22 pounds a glass! Firstly this is not what we had ordered secondly it certainly wasn't worth it, and most importantly this is bad ethics of a sommelier to give wines at this price when all we had asked for was two House whites of the lunch menu.
The Savoy Grill
I had a wonderful lunch at the Savoy Grill. I had the Heirloom beetroot tart with goat’s curd and caper berries which was light but delicious. I followed that with the Pan-fried sea bream with puy lentil stew, smoked chorizo and roasted fennel with a couple of sides of spinach and buttered new potatoes. All perfectly cooked (I always think the true test of a restaurant is to order fish) and absolutely delicious. I had to indulge in dessert as I couldn't resist the Vanilla crème brûlée with shortbread biscuits. I am rather fond of crème brûlée and we cook it at home but this version did not disappoint. Infused with vanilla, it had the perfect cream consistency contrasting with the crunchy sugar topping. I would highly recommend.
We were at the restaurant to celebrate a very special day and the restaurant staff made it even more special for us. Unfortunately we had to wait for a table at the hotel bar for a long time but the lunch at the Grill made it up for us. The service was really good and the food was very good. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
impeccable service and attention
impeccable service and attention to detail , delicious food ...
A Class Act
Beautiful ambience. Waiters very nice. My daughters and I loved it. Will certaining go again. One of the classiest hotels in town. Recommend without hesitation.
Change of venue
For the last ten years a group of us have gone to Claridges for a Pre Christmas lunch on the first Sunday in December. As the Gordon Ramsey restaurant there has closed we chose the Savoy to replace it this year and we were not disappointed.
The ambiance was excellent as was the service and the value corn£30 for three courses was terrific.
Will go again!
I booked online to get the £30 set lunch, but when we got here the a la carte menu looked better value! Both of us had the Sunday Rump of Beef from the trolley, was absolutely outstanding quality of meat. Service was spot-on, always attentive but never intrusive. Very nice old-school feel to the ambience and decor. Obviously not the cheapest place for Sunday lunch, but given the above comments, far better value for money than somewhere like Toby Carvery! Would highly recommend.
For special occasions... and not!!!
Great ambience, fantastic food. Very good the Italian waiter. Not a great sommelier, too inaccurate, he did drip wine on the tablecloth. Rejected, considering the level of the restaurant. (In my modest opinion, of course)
Comfortable uncluttered dining room. Varied and imagine imaginative menu, fantastically presented dishes. Faultless discrete service. Exactly what one wants.
Top Top Savoy
I took my wife for Lunch on her birthday, the experience, food & service was brilliant. The Mains were delicious and the desserts were fantastic, they even brought a little birthday cake for my wife.
Amazing experience would recommend to everyone to book your table
Well done Savoy Grill
There are only two opinions about the Savoy Grill - either very positive or very negative ones. I believed the service was outstanding (waiter Mark - he was always there for you without being too intrusive, so was the rest of the team) and the food was great - starters just the right size (great snails), steaks cooked to perfection, desserts interesting and delicious. I believe it to be a good value for money especially when taking location and service into consideration. Would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone!
Took my bestfriend for dinner. She was so excited. Staff amazing and food excellent.
An excellent lunch!
A excellent lunch that went into early evening! Excellent surroundings perfect staff and no rushing (we went for the 2:30 booking!).
Food excellent went for lunch menu, it is like they say...being on stage at the theatre!! you face out to be part of the show an excellent lunch.
the savoy experience
The service was exceptional, the waiter,Mark (serving Table 26) made me and my family feel very special.
I would recommend it to all.
We booked late afternoon .
We booked late afternoon . We had great service and food . Although i am sure that a lot of wealthy people will bemoan how scruffy top table diners STAND OUT . especially the English. Just like on Holiday they just do not know how to dress anymore . The same old excuse is except me for what i am attitude .
pre theatre dinner
We arrived at the savoy & we were shown straight to our table, we shown 2 menus al carte and the set menu both were very good. We opted for the al carte. The meal arrived very quickly beautifully presented and it tasted divine, the dessert list was amazing and didn't let us down. The only thing is apart from the service charge there is £2 per person added to the bill plus £1 for street smart we gave our waiteress our money but she never brought us any change
A treat for anyone
We went to The Savoy Grill while up in London shopping on Friday. The restaurant was very busy with business lunches and therefore very noisy, which was a pity, spoilt it somewhat for us. But in saying that the food was excellent the service was a bit below what we expected, even though they were busy. Would we come back - yes but not on a Friday lunch
Had a great evening , service and food outstanding.
Really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere was lovely, it was an amazing experience and i would recommend it to anyone. Expensive but worth it
We really enjoyed our meal at the Savoy Grill. As always the service and food were excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant for an exceptiional dining experience.
This is the second time that we have dined at the Savoy and the experience was as good as the first. Food was excellent and the service was second to none. Definately recommed
Had an excellent meal in the Savoy with my husband and his parents on Sunday night for their anniversary. Starters of escargot and soup went down well and the steaks and partridge for main courses were beautiful. Desserts were also all amazing. The Savoy had a lovely festive feeling too which added to our enjoyment. It's pricey enough but perfect for a special occasion. Will be back
Great food Great sevice
need I say anymore really. My wife is not 100% ad during her main was taken ill. The staff felt she didn't like her meal and offered an immediate replacement. we explained it was not the case but how attentive can that be - some restaurants cant bother to refill your glass
Book it, you won't be disappointed
We booked for the Sunday Lunch as a bit of a treat when we were in London for the weekend. We were not disappointed! The Savoy certainly lives up to it's reputation and the whole experience was much more than lunch on a Sunday. The food was exceptional and the service and attention to detail was second to none. We had a stunning meal in a beautiful place with our needs being exceeded by the staff and the pride they take in ensuring that you do have a 5 star experience. I simply can't wait to go back and would encourage anyone to allow themselves a treat and enjoy what The Savoy Grill offers.
