too good for words
This was our second time at Petrus. We were so impressed the first time, that we simply had to do back.
a different menu reflecting the season but exceptionally good - nothing could be improved. Everything tasted so good, was presented so well . Wonderful place.
Amazing food, worth every cent
The ambience and service at Petrus was beyond our expectations, and the food was over and beyond that. We had a great meal, with full attention of the staff never leaving us to need a thing. The only slight downfall was that we asked the staff to call us a taxi at the end of our dinner (around midnight) and let them know that we needed them to take credit cards. The staff let us know when the taxi arrived and told us they had confirmed that credit cards were accepted, however, when we got to our hotel we found out they did not accept cards. Luckily the driver was nice and let us pay in Euros, but that could have been a big issue considering that time of night. Other than that, however, I would highly recommend.
Did everything it said on the tin, food was beautiful to look at and great to eat, staff were just about perfect too
Wine prices make it wincingly expensive but just do it, you deserve it at least once in your life!
A lunchtime delight
Second visit and not disappointed. Had the tasting menu. Everything was excellent. Great service as usual. A lovely lunch.
We want for a lunch. The service was brilliant, we felt very special. I can not describe the food properly, i haven't had anything similar before and would definitelly go again. I loved the part when every dish was described to us so we knew exactly what we were eating and How it was prepared. The restaurant itself looks fabulous. I am still overwhelmed.
This was a wonderful evening.
This was a wonderful evening. The food and ambiance was perfect, but the wine service was well above and beyond. The sommelier served us outstanding wine, and below the budget that we noted for her. While our head captain basically ignored us, the junior staff and the wine staff stepped in and made us feel welcome and well taken care of. This is a lovely place to go anytime.
My wife and I visited Petrus on 17th October for lunch. We chose the Chef's tasting menu. The food was fantastic and it was well worth the price of £75 per head. There were other meal options but I would strongly recommend the Chef's tasting menu. Staff were plentiful and extremely friendly. The dining experience was superb. My only small criticism was that the wine was a bit pricey and there wasn't much choice of white wine from the new world. There was lots of choice if you wanted French wine.
I would recommend a visit either for lunch or dinner. A great experience, which we will do again.
We had a fantastic meal here on Friday night - the food was excellent as you would expect at this price. The restaurant was quite busy, mainly with groups, so not as intimate as some other top restaurants.
Great experience !
Our excellent experience at Petrus started as soon as we entered the restaurant with a very warm and friendly reception. Staff were attentive without being intrusive and the imaginative and mouth watering food was served in a well executed manner. A firm favourite, the suckling pig was cooked to perfection and the subsequent desserts presented in a unique and memorable way. In summary a fantastic meal, in convivial surroundings and supported by knowledgeable and professional staff.
Had the 5 course tasting menu, great selction and lots of extra courses/amuse bouches etc. Lovely food, good service, a little slow on occasion, it took us a long time to order any drinks but overall easy to see why so highly rated on trip advisor.
fanatastic evening out, suberb
fanatastic evening out, suberb food and service.enjoyed the whole experience.
A star in Gordon's stable.
If all of his properties were as well run and as enjoyable as Petrus, he would be even richer
Dinner at Petrus
Decided to go here due to the rave reviews, it did not disappoint. Was originally meant to go as my birthday present but couldn't get a table, then eventually did but had to reschedule. Finally ended up going in October and it was worth the wait. had the Chef's Menu and it was very good with lots and lots of little extras. It isn't cheap but it isn't a normal restaurant. The food is well thought out, well presented and almost perfectly cooked.
Excellent service from the waiting team who served us and they helped to make the meal more enjoyable and treated everyone the same.
overall I would return for another fantastic meal.
The dinner at Petrus was absolutly a pleasure, from the service to the food and the atmosphere. Wish I could eat there every day, the chocolate sphere is the most amazing presentation I've ever seen.
The most amazing food ever
We were two for business lunch. There are not enough words to describe the experience. The food was "Out of this World", and I mean real heaven. The tastes, the plating, the small gesture in between, the most professional smiling service. We started with Code and Artichokes -supreme. Then the Duck - no words, pink tender, full of flavors, then the deserts. You need to see it to believe someone can come with this level of making things. It is an ART, everything was synchronized, top top way of putting food together. Pure generosity. On top of that - professional, ultra nice people that all they want is to make sure that everything is 1000%. At the end we were invited to the kitchen to meet with the chef.
Lunch at Petrus
Great experience at Petrus. Brilliant food and service. When we were finished we were asked to see the kitchen if we wanted (which we wanted) and to ask any questions. Great initiative!
My husband & I chose to visit Petrus for a special romantic lunch and (despite never having visited before) we both loved it. The atmosphere was very grown up without being stuffy or formal: we were made to feel most welcome and treated with utmost cordiality. We elected to splash out and have the full Chef's Menu accompanied by recommended wines, but a much more affordable menu was available at under £40 per head which also looked good. My husband's favourite dish was the unexpected amuse bouche which was an unusual beetroot mousse served with Krug Champagne; the cheese selections amazed him too. Personally I liked the scallops best. We got to visit the Chef's Table downstairs too - might choose to sit there next time...
This restaurant is the most restaurant ever!
The High-qualified and heartily-attentive staff, the fashionable interior, exclusive and wide wine list - everything is excellent in here. The meal and never ending chef's compliments are truly haute-cuisine chef-d'ouvres.
A fantastic experience!
From the moment we walked through the door, the service was top class. Friendly, relaxed, professional staff, all taking time to chat, inform and check we were ok. The food was amazing, with extra appetizers appearing in between courses. We will definitely return and will be recommending.
In comparison to other Michelin Starred restaurants, Petrus was not extraordinary but still very good.
Great for an evening meal
We went to Petrus on a Thursday evening in November and had the a la carte 3 course menu. It was our first time dining at Petrus having dined at other Gordan Ramsay restaurants which were a bit of a let down - this was completely the opposite. The service was exceptional even more so than other fine dining restaurants. Our waiters were extremely friendly, knew the menu very well and were very attentive. The food was very good as well - we had the snails and red mullet to start followed by the Grouse and Venison for mains with a souffle and chocolate Sphere for dessert (which I would not recommend). Overall we had a fantastic evening which was well worth the money - surprised it has lost its star. Definately recommend!
Celebrating our 1st anniversary is deffinately memorable and will deffinately be visiting another ramsay restaurant. We got engaged at restaurant gordon ramsay so thought this would fit the bill. As a special treat we had a tour of the kitchen to meet the team and personally thank them
A gem in the heart of London.
We reguarly go to London and have often walked past Petrus and for my wife's birthday I decided it was worth a shot. There was a hick up with some champagne on arrival which I had ordered which made the night feel a little awkward at the start but it was soon back on track, the food was awesome and the restaurant both beautiful and overall very welcoming. We look forward to returning.
50 years Birthday
Once in a lifetime experience - outstanding food, wines and service - elegant and yet relaxing atmosphere. We felt very special. Ordered 5 dishes (Chef's menu and wines) ended up with 9 servings. Pre-starter Beetroot cream very nice, but maybe could have been a little more chilled, Foie Gras beautifully served, a little too large serving at least for the ladies, missed a little more sour (acid) than the grapes on top as contrast to the "fat" taste of the dish. Scallops were perfect. Main courses Duck and Partridge outstanding. Blackcurrent sorbet beautiful and delicious, however could have used a little more sweet merengue pieces or sweet in the sorbet itself. Chocolate sphere fantastic serving, chocolate taste very intense. Lollipop great.
Having been fans of Gordon Ramsay's and having dined at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay the previous day, we had high expectations for Petrus. Petrus did not disappoint, all the dishes we had were superb and very reasonably priced. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone
Petrus Lunch in November
The service was friendly with a welcome hint of informality but this lapsed once or twice towards casual that, at this level, I did not expect. The wrong dish was delivered, twice it was hard to find a waiter and once the bread was removed before I had finished. The Maitre D needs to up his game; perhaps he is a little understaffed? Otherwise, the staff attending our table were very efficient and genuinely helpful.
However, whichever menu you choose, you are going to be delighted by the quality of the ingredients, the masterly preparation of the food and the remarkable presentation of each dish. Sean Burbidge, the chef, is outstanding; another star in recognition of his work is held back only by the minor lapses in service.
Excellent food.very creative.
Excellent food.very creative.
I really loved the small delicate food parcels we were served in-between our three courses.
Wine was expensive and was sparingly served .
Enjoyed the Petrus experience, staff just right in terms of being both attentive and human, food really good and wine list not bad either!
I went to Petrus for Dinner and was impressed with the Service, very polite and very attentive. The food itself was outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the Partridge. The wine selection was impressive, we ordered a Montrachet which was delightful, Very expensive though so only for special occasions or a romantic date!
5 cousre taster menu .
We dined here to celebrate my sons Duke of Edinburgh Gold award . A special occasion was made even better with an exquisite lunch , wonderful service, the food was not only delicious but also a work of art . Extra little courses snuck in and a lovely touch to finish with a " Congratulations " course . We just loved it .
Just amazing dining experience.
I went here with my mother for lunch & had the chefs menu which was great value. We had a taste of everything. A lot of dishes I had never tasted before. Our waitress was very attentive & friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant for a dining experience.
Great restaurant with wonderful food and service. The staff really go that extra mile to make sure you feel welcome. The food is out of this world.
Impressed in every way
Against my better judgement I chose a restaurant from Tripadvisor during a recent break in London with my fiancé. However, I'm so glad I did!
We were highly impressed from start to finish and the maître d' made the whole experience that bit better, being friendly and welcoming yet professional and efficient, a rare combination!
I had scallops, duck then the chocolate sphere and all were exceptional. They had a variety of textures to them and were extremely appealing to eat rather than being constructed more for effect as can sometimes be the case. There were also some little extra treats.
Finally, a tour into the kitchen was a lovely end.
My only complaint is that it spoilt us, making our following night seem so disappointing in comparison!
As always with a Ramsay establishment service is always at the fore front, but never forget its the staff that make the restaurant, and the staff at Petrus are excellent.
From a simple introductory conversation and my wife letting slip it was my birthday to being given a small "cake" at the end of the night as a birthday surprise without any prompting. That you cannot pay for!!.
Well done Petrus a great night and great food as well!
Fabulous food experience!
Great food and perfect service to go with it. Good and interesting food combinations and a remarkable "Chocolate sphere" to die for - so put your camera in video mode.
We dined at Perry's after
We dined at Perry's after arriving the same day from New York and even with jet lag it was a lovely experience. I have already recommended it to friends who will try to get a reservation for next week before they return to New York
Great food and ambience
I booked this restaurant for my husband's birthday. The food was great and we really liked the decor and ambience. Service was good but not outstanding I would say. We were seated to the table immediately but then left without a menu for a while. Then they brought us twice the same canapes (which we didn't really mind but I don't think it should happen in this kind of restaurant). Then again, we were left for at least 20min with the desert menu. But otherwise all waiters were great and my husband got a 'happy birthday' macaron with a candle when I told them it's his birthday today. I would go there again.
Seasonal menu had a lot of seafood
Really great service, atmosphere and place to go. Starters and dessert were of good quality. Main menu lacking in variety as had mostly seafood. Main was more like comfort food rather than fine dining. But would still recommend for good quality food and service.
Walk the talk
Great expectations met by an even greater service and food!
It went all perfect and the blend of taste, FLAVORS and the great staff are the right mix for a sure success.
We will go back!
Delicious food, fantastic
Delicious food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. Petrus is definitely one of my top restaurants in London.
Thirty third anniversary dinner
My spouse and I recently traveled from the States to London to celebrate our anniversary. From beet mousse to digestif, our experience was superlative. The well coordinated team approach made us feel that the entire staff was at our disposal. Our tour to the kitchen and opportunity to discuss some of the preparation with Chef was a special treat. The food was prepared and served with care. My scallop starter was excellent, the duck entree was its equal and the orange and yeast parfait with pistachio tulle was a delicious not on which to end my meal. My spouse chose the lobster and crab ravioli with the venison entree. For desert my spouse had the chestnut soufflée, which was a perfect finish to her meal.
The overall experience was excellent and very relaxed. We chose the Al a carte menu and the food was exceptional with chef treats in between each course. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and the staff made it special by giving us a decorative anniversary surprise. The staff were polite and professional at all times. Would definitely recommend.
The weekday set lunch at Petrus is outstanding and unbelievably good value. The food was exceptional and the service exemplary.
From the minute my wife and I walked through the door we were welcomed and made to feel special. The staff were fantastic and the food was beautiful. As far as our experience of Gordon Ramsay's establishments so far, Petrus is at the top.
We had the Chef's recommended dish of beef, and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed the hor d'oeuvres as well as the various amuse-bouches that came between courses.
A very special evening.
Petrus never disappoints
Every single person at Petrus is friendly, knowledgable and go out of their way to make the experience special. My husband and I have been there for birthdays and anniversaries and they always do something special. The food is always amazing and menu has so much choice you can't decide what to order. I can't say enough good things about the team at Petrus. We will go back again and again for special occasions and to treat ourselves to an outstanding meal.
Great food, fantastic staff,
Great food, fantastic staff, friendly yet not overbearing. Highlight for us was bumping into Gordon Ramsay himself outside the restaurant as we were leaving!
Chef's tasting menu with wine
Chef's tasting menu with wine combinations was simply fantastic - one of the best meals I've had. Staff attentiveness and informality was a perfect balance, as was their knowledge of wine and taste combinations. We really did enjoy ourselves - take you time and enjoy it!
worth the trip!
Flew into the UK from the USA Friday morning for a wonderful dinner at Petrus. The staff was very helpful and aided us in making great dinner and wine choices. A tour of the kitchen was delightful! We will come back.
Exemplary Dining Experience
Gordon Ramsay's Petrus definitely deserves it's reputation for excellence. It is expensive, however it's a place you eat for a special occassion. You really feel the luxury, I took my partner for a birthday meal and we had the chefs tasting menu with the sommelliers choice of wine. The food was immaculately crafted and was presented beautifully and as expected cooked to perfection. The staff were knowledgeable and unpretentious and incredibly attentive. We were made to feel very welcome and unrushed,I would reccommend Petrus to anyone who wishes to enjoy true fine dining and exceptional service.
